These lessons are drafts that represent various ways the curriculum can be taught while placing emphasis on vocabulary and how it is used in narrative text. Whenever possible the definition of task/evaluative vocabulary is presented in the mini lessson and work period. The words are presented visually (including copies of documents, political cartoons, and various images found on the internet) and a user friendly definition (from Webster's Dictionary) is incorporated into the lesson. The lessons can be, and should be supplemented with copies of original source documents. The suggested work periods can be enhanced to include document-based questions.
