8. CHALLENGES AND OVERVIEW:
We asked islanders to
tell us about their problems
ACCESS:
lack of access to
electricity, fresh water
and health care
impact the lives of
islanders daily.
EDUCATION:
Many islands don’t have
education opportunities
post primary school. This
traps islanders into
subsistent fishing or
farming as a career.
ECONOMY:
A weak local economy is a
product of poor access to
opportunities and low
emphasis on education. It’s
impossible to address the
economy without addressing
the two previous issues.

9. IDEAFORCE VTO INITIATIVE:
You are invited to engage the community, survey data and your critical thinking to find innovative
and sustainable solutions. Below is a break down of what the week will look like:
LEARN:
Volunteers will learn
about issues from
local communities and
through survey data
gathered by V2I
IDEA:
We will break
volunteers into
groups to discuss
learning and
brainstorm ideas
BUILD:
Review all ideas
brainstormed, take
the strongest and
build an MVP to test
with the community
ENGAGE:
Bring community
back test MVP,
provide feedback,
and determine
next steps
