Control of the mite in honeybee colonies
Amitraz was evaluated for its efficacy against Varroa destructor mites in honeybee colonies. Ten colonies were divided into treated and control groups. The treated colonies received plastic strips impregnated with amitraz for 30 days, followed by coumaphos strips for 45 days. Samples found the amitraz treatment killed 93.82% of mites on average, significantly higher than the 11.11% in the control group. The results show amitraz is an effective control agent against Varroa mites.
Novel staple food-based strategies to improve micronutrient status in Africa
Yellow cassava with beta-carotene has been produced in Kenya as part of novel staple food strategies to improve micronutrient status in Africa. Malaria infection can reduce the efficacy of iron fortification programs by blunting iron absorption. A booklet was made available with traditional recipes using micronutrient-rich millet, sorghum and maize from West Africa, available in English and French. A training handbook was also produced on solutions to micronutrient malnutrition.

The temple and the sanctuary around were dedicated to Asklepios Zmidrenus. This name has been known since 1875 when an inscription dedicated to him was discovered in Rome. The inscription is dated in 227 AD and was left by soldiers originating from the city of Philippopolis (modern Plovdiv).
