Human activities are negatively impacting ecosystems in various ways. Deforestation, oil spills, water and air pollution, insecticides, acid rain, dynamite fishing, eutrophication, mining, desertification, and large-scale land conversion are reducing biodiversity and degrading natural habitats. Students are tasked with creating a short video, paper, or presentation exploring how human influence affects ecosystems, with examples from Australia if possible. The document provides examples of human impacts and asks students to consider what is occurring in each case and how impacts might be addressed.
