Our Seniors provided a competitive and close game to start the afternoon off.
We always knew it was going to be a tough and hard game against Bond uni,
but as a team we nearly delivered the upset of the season. A couple of early
injuries to our key players had set us back a little, but Jess Wiggan stood up
and provided the goods (not just with her run-down tackle). Our midfielders
had a solid game as always with Megan hunt as the leader in the midfield and
in the huddle. Grace Brennan took away a couple of sausage rolls continuing
her consistent run of performances and in our backs Jess stallard, even when
injured, along side Halle Pearce were able to provide great directional chat. We
are learning from this game and taking both positives and negatives away,
looking at taking on Yeronga this week!!!

After a bye round and a few extra sets of
gruelling conditioning (cheers Luke
Glacken, we love feeling our lunch in our
throats), the ressies came back this
weekend in full force.
The intensity was present from the first
bounce. Aided by the speed of Louise
Tyson, the midfield worked hard to keep
the ball in our forward 50. The relentless
work of our BOG Annelise Crilly and her
intercept marks and constant chat
ensured the ball rarely went into our
backline. The forwards finished the job
off, lead by the wealth of experience that
is Bec Barnes.
Nothing restores the confidence like
coming back from a narrow loss to beat a
renowned University rival 70 to zip.
Halfway through the season sees us at the
top of the table, and we are keen to put in
the work and have a few more belters to
keep us there until the very end.

After kicking off the season with a
convincing win at home against the
Ipswich Cats last week, the boys carried
the momentum in round two with a
convincing 69-point win over the Ferny
Grove-Murri Mavericks. The players
were met with dewy conditions typical
of an April night in Brisbane’s burbs
which made the game a tough contest
for the soap like ball.
The first quarter kicked off with the
Falcons being much harder at the ball
than we were which led to some stern
words from the birthday boy Coach
Woody Woodward at quarter time.
However, as the game went on the boys
began to put the foot down and matched
Ferny Grove’s pressure around the
contest.
The back six put up defensive pressure
akin to a ship stuck in the Suez Canal,
keeping Ferny Grove goalless for the
entire game. Lachlan Otto claimed best
on ground taking some taking some
strong intercept marks and making big
some spoils in the backline.
With two wins under our belt from two
games the boys are looking forward to a
tough game away next week against
Coorparoo.
Friday night backline stalwarts Bronwny
and Dicko also limited Ferny Groves
scoring opportunities with some strong
contested possessions.
The midfielders were quick to the ball at
centre bounces with Wills McCulloch and
Jack Halley delivering some clean ball to
the forward line for the talls to convert.
Sully GJ threw his body around putting
on some bone crushing bumps.
Up front Nate Cutcliffe, Jack Halley, Andy
Luck, Frasers brother and Wills
McCulloch got themselves on the scoring
sheet kicking snags and even old head
Olly Smith kicked a couple, despite an
abysmal attempt at a bicycle kick.
