Conference of Parties (COP) 28 and the African Climate Week as significant platforms for
discussing and addressing disaster risk reduction.

interactive workshop to discuss disaster planning and recovery efforts, with Hamza invited to
share his expertise. Participants were encouraged to share their experiences and insights on
disaster activities in their areas, particularly those with experience in disasters, planning for
them, or participating in recovery actions.
Disaster Recovery and Community Involvement
The meeting was primarily a discussion about community involvement and experiences, with a
focus on disaster recovery efforts. There were technical issues with mute buttons and audio,
but participants were still encouraged to share their experiences.
H.E. shared his experiences working with the American Red Cross, primarily assisting those
affected by fire-related disasters by providing healthcare services, coordinating transportation,
and offering psychological support. He emphasized the importance of follow-up care and the
need for data reporting. The conversation ended with Israel sharing his experience of
community development service in Nigeria, specifically in Platu State, where he was part of a
group called Nema, which stands for Nigeria Emergency Management Agency. He was trained
in retrieving drowned individuals from water, providing first aid, and handling treatments. He
also mentioned his participation in disaster recovery efforts, specifically in relation to an
orphanage near the earthquake site.
Disaster Preparedness and Personal Experience
israel shared his personal experience with a fire incident and how the platform has helped him
learn from it. He appreciated the educational opportunities the platform provided. Andrew then

identify and assess risks, estimate capability requirements, and build and sustain capabilities.
He encouraged everyone to use online resources for disaster preparedness. The meeting
highlighted the importance of disaster planning, preparation, and recovery activities. There was
also mention of a person named Hamza, who was expected to provide specifics about disaster
management activities or projects, but his participation remained unclear. Towards the end,
there was an issue with Pastor James's ability to engage in the ongoing discussion.
Recognizing Outstanding Volunteers and Their Impact
The meeting recognized outstanding volunteers from various organizations, including
corporations, governmental agencies, and embassies. The US Department of State's Foreign
Service Department announced the winners of the associates of American foreign service,

organizations focused on providing vital medical equipment and supplies to underserved
communities, especially in Africa. They prioritize the acquisition and distribution of essential
medical equipment and supplies, as well as partnering with local hospitals and healthcare
organizations to identify areas of greatest need and establish sustainable healthcare
programs. Since 2013, the organizations have donated $400 million worth of free medical
equipment and hospital supplies to communities in three countries.

organization. The speaker highlighted the foundation's initiatives to improve healthcare and
education in Nigeria, Kenya, and Canada, as well as their disaster relief efforts. The Chaplain
stressed the importance of active participation in programs, with certificates only being
awarded to those present throughout. A future meeting was scheduled for the same time and
place, with a homework assignment given for participants to prepare an example of a disaster
they had experienced and how it impacted them.
Next steps
• Chaplain will send the Whatsapp presentation to Andrewnetworks.com.
• Andrewnetworks.com will consider using the new fly sent by the Chaplain for future events.
• Attendees should prepare for the next session by sharing an example of a disaster they've
experienced, how it impacted them, and how they can prepare a better plan for disaster
awareness, planning, preparation, or recovery in their own local community.

Today's workshop on Monday, 27th of December. addresses four key areas, as I mentioned
disaster awareness, disaster planning, disaster preparation, and disaster recovery.
However, it's important for you to know that this is not an activity that's just beginning right
this minute. This has been an ongoing commitment on my part, and I'll share with you where
we began.
SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH
I am president of five points youth foundation, as I said, based here in Los Angeles,
California, but I'm also a member of the United Nations Global Compact.
I was able to have the pleasure of becoming involved with the United Nations, not just global
compact, however, not just in 2015 when I was appointed as president of five points youth
foundation, but at the very beginning.
That in 2000, the United Nations Global Compact was founded. actually announced in
January of 1999, back COVID-19 on, the world doubles well economic form and officially
launched in 2000.
COVID-19 was also the Secretary General of the United Nations and he launched
simultaneously with the Millennium Development Goals. He launched as a companion the
United Nations Global Compact.
What we are dealing with now, the sustainable development goals, is only what we call the
second iteration of the Millennium Development Goals.
I'm unable to clearly modify my spring here, so I'm going to share with you the commitment
that we made back in 2015.
And my role then as the Chairperson of the International Board of Advisors, Goodwill
Investors, and Goodwill Investors. That has evolved now to what we now know as...
the ad hoc International Advisory Board of Goodwill Ambassadors, which Pastor James is
one of our trusted and appreciated ambassadors.
However, back in 2015, we announced we were taking a five-things plan to cover all the 15
years of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Phase 1 will be dealing with the United Nations Global Compact, Phase 2, Chair in
Reclimbant, Phase 3, establishing and strengthening local networks, Phase 4, working for
business for peace, and Phase 5 to build community resiliency, neighborhood empowerment
and economic development networks.
This is a document that was actually filed with the United Nations, so the work we're doing
now is just a continuation of the commitment that we made.
Specifically, we are looking to work through interfaith and neighborhood partnerships, while
the Sustainable Development Goals were aligned. The left will see that we set a goal back in
2015 of raising awareness about that at that time that brand new sustainable development
goals.
We were able to have over 50,000 unique hits on social media, but that was only done
through a collaboration myself and over 100 people ambassadors.
At that time, we were working with Lady Alicia Hamilton, will be joining us later today and the
revelation network.
And TR International, where I'm hosting regular events to address challenges that we're
facing. In fact, this today's show is actually being streamed live onto our international as well.
There's a very specific outcome of our time to accomplish. We're trying to raise the
awareness so that nonprofit organizations around the world can join the United Nations
Global Compact or whether you join or not.
To uphold those questions. principles of the United Nations Global Compact and holding
accountable those 15,000 businesses around the world that are already members of the
United Nations Global Compact.
They make commitments on a regular basis for their corporate social responsibility
objectives. So we're asking you to be able to understand that they have commitments in 10
to these 10 principles and they're cover four major areas.
One is human rights, another is labor, environment, and anti-proruption. This information is
easily available. Just go to www.unclobalcompact.org and you'll find out all this information.
This is a model that we began using in 2015 and we're now suggesting that you members of
this volunteer workshop consider to take advantage of the resources that are commonly
available to accomplish worldwide objectives that you can use in your
local community. That's the whole point of this exercise to provide you information that is
available that you can use locally.
I actually coined the term, globalize. That's localized with a G in front of it. So we can deliver
local solutions that we source globally and local and global solutions that we, and local,
solution that we source globally.
So this is an exchange, a transfer of information. There's a very simple United Nations
Global Compact Management model that any organization can use.
You do not have to be a member of the United Nations Global Compact to use the resources
that they make available.
This is the model that we're using. First, there must be a commitment on a prior leadership.
Then you have to assess the opportunities, define your goals, objectives, implement your
policies, measure, and monitor all the outcomes, communicate that information to the
general public, and then start the cycle of
already all over again. Back in 2015, as I said, our first focus was on a caring for climate plan
of action.
This is even more important now because the places in the first that are where people are
most likely to die from the adverse impacts of climate change are also in those places with
the least number of these local networks.
So part of our objective is to find out what's happening on a global scale so that you can
engage your government and with policies your government is already committed to that you
can adapt to your local situation.
So when you go knocking on their doors, you're going in with information, sharing climate,
any organization in the world can just go to caring for climate for its lash.
I'm sorry, they can go to climate caring for climate at UN.org and they can make commitment
to focus on these objectives.
of caring for climate and let's see if I can change my spring so you can see more of what I'm
trying to share with you here.
Yes, so there is impact. The United Nations Global Compact caring for climate to build
community resiliency. So business people around the world realize the climate change and
environmental degradation holds important new risk and opportunities for their companies,
competitors, growth and development.
As I scroll down here, you'll see that there are caring for climate offers maximum value for
the Singapore Global level, including the ability to demonstrate leadership, increase your
ability, showcase action, share best practices and shape policy agenda.
All the information. is very relevant to you and our work about this after planning preparation
and recovery, because you're going to have to engage with the existing framework in order
to know how what you're doing locally can benefit from the work that's already been done.
This is the caring for climate, business leadership platform, this is a statement where
business leaders make a commitment to taking further practical actions to address climate
impact in their local communities, their expectations from governments, but also
expectations from the businesses themselves.
And again, no one has to be a member of anything to simply go online and register to
register to make this commitment so that you individually can take responsibility for your own
work.
So companies can join caring for climate by simply endorsing the caring for climate
statement to join the highest level executive to sign a copy of the climate theory for climate.
I'm a statement. And send it to the Care for Climate Sanitary Act at carrying the number four
climate at UN.org.
And please CC me at 5.0%gmail.com. In 2015, we've made a special effort, as I said, to
focus on creating our planet.
Because there is no planet beat. This is the only planet we have to work with. As you can
see, we also support growing food as one of the ways that we can support our local
communities.
This is an introduction of the United Nations plans. I'm sorry, initiatives. This, however, has
been discontinued. It's a cities program where cities and entire cities were asked to make the
commitment on what have their entire populations to focus on these goals and objectives.
However, the best This for Peace platform is still in place. And this is one of the areas where
we'll be asking those in Nigeria in particular to take advantage of this opportunity.
There are several organizations set up around the world and Nigeria just happens to be one
of those countries that does have a local network focused on.
Business for Peace. So recognizing that local ownership and knowledge are vital to driving
change. Business for Peace is adopted a locally driven approach.
Business for Peace works to develop the capacity of global compact local networks to
support participants in their efforts to conduct responsible business practices and advanced
peace, which is the commitment.
Folk. 18 local networks have already joined in this foreign movement, including Canada,
Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Iraq, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Republic of
Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United States.
and it came in. And before we begin today's presentation, I do want to again ask you to find
out more about these local networks.
There are particular people that we can reach to share the work that you're doing in your
local area with what we're trying to accomplish worldwide.
Again, today this is 2023. We began this effort in 2015, so we're building faith-based and
neighborhood partnerships for the sustainable development goal.
And a worldwide global compact for business and community resiliency networks. Focusing
on sustainable development goal number 17, multi stakeholder partnerships.
One of the day's guest is Lady Alicia Hamilton. At that time in 2015 and even now, two is
responsible for making sure we have access to a global market for a global audience.
And again, we're streaming right now on Facebook on the Chair in International News
website. as well as New World Network website, which is now the parent of this organization.
You can find information about which is doing a PAC read, and that's again focused on
preparation and awareness for community resiliency and emergencies and disasters.
So we're asking subject matter experts here to join this collaboration. Again, this is not
something we're just thought of right now.
The subject has been going on for quite some time. Our other special guest this week will be
Charles D.
Sharpe, CEO of the Black Emergency Managers Association, both Lady Alicia and I, our
lifetime members of BIMA, and we believe it is and critically important that you and your local
area consider joining BIMA as non-profit organizations, but also to get your businesses
involved as well so you can connect that dot.
I'll make this document available to all of the participants whose email addresses that we
have. So you can find the background information about our speakers today and I'm going to
stop sharing my screen just briefly and see if we have a set of channels sharp available here
or if Pastor James is able to unmute himself will allow him to give our opening.
But you can see that the work we're doing has impact on a wide area of hazards not just five
wildfires but floods.
They were all experienced around the world. There is no planet B so the effort is to all
engage our activities and finding out how we can work together to leverage to lead to have a
major impact on the outcomes for our local communities and worldwide.
So Pastor James again I'm going to ask you if you can thank you.
@34:10 - Chaplain James Mercy O.
I'm using my phone because I'm coming in. I think if call comes in, it comes that way. It's a
pleasure meeting you again.
This is Chaplin James. Maybe from World Man in Theory and Organization for Peace and
Ethnic. It is a pleasure day once again today starting another program for volunteers on this
as a, this as a management, this as a preparedness, this as a recovery and so on and so
forth.
In this program, we are going to let mom have a watch. This is all about and how can we
come in as individual organizations.
What's the rule? Are we going to play? This is part of what we are going to learn in this
program.
And we have facilitators and special guests for this program. And that is why we waited a bit
for more to join us.
But the quite number we're having here now, we are about 25 already. It is a good start in
this program and we are splitting more to join us.
And do not forget, we are going to give facilitators at this training as we have done in two
weeks time we had, two weeks time and last week.
And this is another week. We have also told you that when you are entering a training like
this, we are spending due to input your name in your name, shall ask you a comment.
We can see some others that are not really put ...in their names. ...and that is why you keep
on disturbing us after giving your certificate complaining about incorrect names and things
like that.
...not just texting your name and your emails. We want you as you are coming in to put in
your name.
Like somebody that puts friends here now. We don't know you. And if we put friends here in
your certificate, whose fault is that?
When you are coming into a program, putting your name, we can see some others putting in
their phone name, or people in one K.
couldn't understand that. Please, if you have not put your name, please do that. To help us
know who is attending the program.
And it will help us to input your name rightfully into your certificate. Hint of training after this
training. So I want to say congratulations for those that participated in our programs.
Congratulations for those joining us today. As we proceed officially further into this program,
are having his agency, Dr. Ambasidou Andrew William-Gino, who has taken us for a couple
of weeks and is also here today.
We want to say thank you, Ambassador Andrew, for all you do and what you have been
doing for humanity, for who and for the world in general.
We have to appreciate you, I will say thank you. And the special guest for today is Sir Dr.
Shahz David.
I don't know if he's here with us already. Do we be joining us in this training, in this workshop

Thank you. Yes, very welcome. I'm going to continue the presentation. This ends at, you
know, four-day workshop. So I'll take the heavy lifting.
This today, I apologize to all of you. Normally, we get started freshly into our content. But in
many of you have already here before, but we are trying to reach a new audience.
So I want to bring us back to where we began. Again, I mentioned earlier to you that our
situation is that climate change is having a negative impact all over the world.
And our objective is to find ways that we can adapt to that. I'll share with you this booklet

at the bottom where you see the light area, that's the place where the least number of local
networks. I do want to give you full, all of you full respect and ask you to respect your selves,
particularly those in Africa, because while the world is talking about the sustainable
development goals, we don't talk about the fact that it was the African Union of Gen.
26, 23 that provides some basis for the bulk of the content that we use now for the
sustainable development goals.
So, it's really like it's yours. It's not something that someone's trying to impose upon us, it's
something that we own, but we have to take advantage of that.
Again, we're trying to work within the context of the United Nations Global Compact, dealing
with these principles affecting everyone, human rights, labor, anticarption, and transparency.
It's important that we all again decide and identify which of these 17 sustainable
development goals your work is. is most focused on.
We do understand that your work may impact one or more. We ask you to, again, indicate to
us which of these 17 sustainable development goals you're focused on.
This booklet will be given out to everyone here. It describes the United Nations Global Top
Pack initiatives that anyone can participate whether you are a number or not.
And finally, on the right-hand side, we will have a registration form so that your non-
governmental organization can register with us.
This will also be available on the whole website so that you will be able to easily plan ways to
identify the skills and abilities that you have and how they're most relevant to the work that's
going all around the world.

So our presentation will begin. I'm going to briefly share my screen. So in the future, we can
mark this as the beginning of the official presentation.
Andrew Waves, Jr. here. This is day one. of the four-day-biologist workshop for disaster
awareness planning, preparation and recovery. Again, the work that we're doing here is
being done just through our own efforts in our own local communities, but it's part of a
worldwide effort around the world and is focused on something called the SINDA framework
for disaster risk reduction.
Now that may not sound familiar to you, but it's important that you understand the
background of what it is that we're doing.
SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH
So I'm going to share with you this brief video. you Okay, I'll just now connectivity. So,

I'm going to begin again. Thank you. Thank you. Many I think. I think you are correct. We
should get.
Though... Thank Well, thank you so much for that very brief review of what the SENDA
framework disaster risk reduction is.
But to give you a further in-depth understanding of what it is, let's go back to the beginning.
Again, what we're talking about now did not begin yesterday.
SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH
This is an ongoing collaboration. And this all began alongside the 2015 Paris climate change
and also the 2015 launch of the sustainable development goals.
The SENDA framework was established to focus on global challenges targets to achieve the
2020-20 2015 and 2030. Again, this information is
publicly available. You can just type in prevention web and send-out framework at a glance
and this information will pop up.
We will of course provide you with these links, but we do want to make sure you're able to
access this information, whether you ever hear from us again or not, we're empowering you
to empower yourself and your community.
The entire world is focused on these seven targets achieved by 2030. The intent is to
substantially reduce a global disaster mortality, be the number of affected people, see
economic loss in relation to both national products, and be damaged, equitable
infrastructure, and services disruptions.
e. The number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies. health,
international cooperation to developing countries, and G, and access to early warning
systems and disaster risk reduction information.
So those are the areas on the left hand side of the purple. We want to reduce global disaster
mortality, reduce the number of affected people, reduce economic loss, and reduce damage
to critical infrastructure.
At the same time, we want to, on the right, increase the number of countries and nations,
and communities for the local disaster reduction strategies, international cooperation by
developing countries, and availability and access to early warning systems and information.
What I'm asking you to do is take human right number 29 responsibility and find ways that
you can use in your local community, what these countries are doing.
on a global scale, only then when you have conversation with your governments can they
understand that you're talking the same language that they are.
These are terms and terms and explanations that you need to familiarize yourself with. We're
in a focus of lifelong learning.
So for example, we have to focus on the stoke and purpose of your activity, expected
outcome, goal and targets.
This is true not just for disaster risk reduction, but also for any business operation. But one of
the key things are the term of what your priorities are for action.
In terms of disaster planning, priority one is understanding the disaster risk. Priority number
two, strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk.
Priority three, investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience. Priority number four, enhance
disaster preparedness for effective response and to build back better and recovery
rehabilitation and reconstruction.
Again, this is not something we're asking you to do on your own, we're asking you to
understand that governments have made the commitment to achieve these objectives, but
you can only participate with them when you know what they are.
So there are several guiding principles that governments are asked to follow. We're asking
you, as responsible volunteers, to find out more about how to take advantage of this
opportunity to educate yourself and educate your community.
On this page, you can click on this link and get more information. There is, in fact, entire
curriculum around this where you can plan out more about what the specific tools and
resources are.
This is a SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction. And I do want to say to you that the
name SINDI is not just a made up word.
It's actually a place in Japan, SINDI Japan, which is where this framework was launched,
where the meeting was held to launch this framework.
Now, all of you here are, in fact, members of just the United Nations, but members of your
local community.
But you have representatives at the highest levels of government working on this SINDI
framework for disaster risk reduction. In particular, this right now is called the midterm
review.
It was launched in 2015, just as we're halfway towards accomplishing or addressing the
sustainable development goals, we're halfway through the SINDI framework for disaster risk
reduction.
So there's high level of political meetings. that are being held at the United Nations, where
people representing all parts of the world are having these conversations.
So it's again important for you to educate yourself about how your representative is speaking
about these areas on an international and national basis that actually impact you locally.
So again, you can go find out where these activities are happening. For example, earlier this
year there was a high level meeting for the midterm review of the SINDI framework.
And may there is a risk reduction hub where there was an area of session side events and
engagements in preparation for what we now have as the report for the midterm review of
the SINDI framework.
Again, your phone or your computer is your best library right now because all you have to do
is is this click on a link to get additional information.
In particular, this particular report deals with the mentor review of the implementation of the
SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction 2015 through 2020.
This is not long, so I'll just read it to you for those of you who aren't able to access it.
The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction expresses its appreciation to member
states and non-state stakeholders for their commitment to consultations, review, and

by stakeholders. So again, you can easily find this information out. It's readily available. I'm
just asking you to take the time and invest the effort in finding out how this work impacts your
local community.
We are fast approaching what's known as COP28. For those of you on the continent, you
may or may not know the dishes after the climate week took place from the 4th to the 8th of
September in Nairobi, hosted by I bring this information up to you because of trying to
address areas of disaster awareness, planning preparation and recovery.
They depend on more than your local efforts. They depend upon you. connecting with global
efforts and national efforts that are money and partners already in place that are able to help
work with you to address issues in your local community.
I'll ask you to look in your own community. I will think in particular Abuja and Layos but for

There are several organizations that address this issue but in particular you have the UN

I think it's going to be important that I ask each of the participants to identify ways that they
are working in their own communities to increase the awareness of disasters that are

@1:04:58 - H.E. Prof. Anita Mckaney
Thank you. Thank you so much for having this program today. I have participated in disaster
safety disaster recovery disaster planning with the American Red Cross here in my local
community.
I am a disaster health services nurse with the Red Cross and a disaster spiritual care
disaster chaplain with the Red Cross.
And so what we primarily do because our most recurring disasters are usually fire. It's
usually a fire related disaster where people have lost their homes, their pets, their loved
ones, all of their possessions in a fire.
I was actually on site and I was deployed as a disaster health care services member and
worked as one of the nurses to assist people to relocate to a hotel or to a college campus
because they could return to their homes.
We were able to assist them with feeding. getting clothing, getting shelter. We also assisted
them with their healthcare needs.
I had to get people's insulin. had to take care of people who were having asthma attacks. We
had to also coordinate with our people who were helping with psychological first.
So, encouraged to help them to acquire transportation to go back to the side of the fire so
that they could acquire their possessions that remained.
And then we did follow up here for those who were relocated to the apartment complex that
was donated. We were able to help later on with making sure they have proper prescriptions
for their medications that the children could get to school and have transportation for
childcare for younger children for recovering their technological devices, right?
So, they could work things of that nature. We also did the reporting. on all of these things
and I was able to input data regarding how many people were in a household, what things
were required for their immediate care and following up with doctors appointments as well as
spiritual care which would include me being a Christian chaplain, I would deal with those who
were Christians but then those who were of other religious denominations and what not we
would refer them to their denomination or to their religious institution.
So I have been able to participate in those things and it wasn't some parts of it were more
organized than others, some could definitely use help but for the most part we were able to
see to the people which was the most important part it's very rewarding and I highly
recommend that you look into
to the Red Cross as just one of the organizations that is that does these things, but there are
many NGOs, there are many organizations that help with disaster planning recovery,
reuniting family members back together, seeing to pets care because there's a new branch
of humanitarian efforts in order to people for people to reunite with their pets actually.
And then of course all of the range of religious services if people want to attend a service or
they want to you know speak with a chaplain all of those things.
So it's very rewarding and I highly recommend it for anyone who's interested in humanitarian
care and specifically advancing the sustainable development goals in that area regarding
reducing poverty, reducing the lack of education etc.
different sustainable development goals that interact with the humanitarian aid. during
disasters. Thank you for the opportunity to speak.

But this information is online, so it's available not just to those here in the United States.
It's also available to you in Africa and Italy and Europe and Asia anywhere around the world.
There is a prep toolkit and the National Preparedness System.
This system is an online portal that provides a whole community with tools to implement all
six areas of the National Preparedness System.
All you have to do is look at this whole community approach wheel and it begins with
identifying and assessing risks, estimating capability requirements, building and sustaining
capability.
Plan to deliver capabilities, validating capabilities, and reviewing and updating your
capabilities. Because things change once you click on one of these polls, it will take you to
another page where it gives you background, tools, links, critical linkages, and information
that's critical to you understanding what is necessary for your local community to engage
with your national preparedness plan.
Work that's done at a national level means absolutely nothing if your local community is not
able to engage with the existing framework in place.
This wheel just gives you various information so that you can better educate yourself about
what skillsets are needed, what information is needed, also all you have to do is just click on

I'm in the United States of America, but our own US Department of State. We also recognize
volunteers. What you'll find is that there are many people involved with major corporations or
even governmental agencies that are themselves doing outstanding volunteerism locally in
abroad.
This was just released today from the United States Foreign Service Department. Eight
winners will receive the Assessutes of the American Foreign Service worldwide Secretary of
State Award by outstanding volunteerism abroad at a ceremony to be held November 9 at
10.38 am in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the Department of State.
Director General Marsha as Brickhat will highlight the winner's exemplary service and

This year's award winners include the Bureau of African Affairs, George Cornick out of
Compala Uganda. George Cornick's expansive volunteerism efforts in Uganda included
volunteering at the Refuge of Hope, Refugee Center, where he met her youth while teaching
them live skills, job interview techniques, and even helping to form a step dancing group.
Cornick also obtained a grant funding from the J. Curry Simon Trust to benefit the Bless a

In addition to equipment, the foundation also supplies crucial medical consumables,
including medications, managers, personal protective equipment, and other essential
supplies.
The Second Foundation actively partners with local hospitals, clinics, and healthcare
organizations to identify areas of greatest need and establish sustainable healthcare
problems.
The foundation advocates for increased investment in healthcare infrastructure and policies
that prioritize equitable access to medical resources. Recognize the importance of
knowledge and skill development.
The Second Foundation intends to invest in training programs for healthcare professionals.
In fact, through its dedicated efforts, the Second Foundation has made a significant impact
on healthcare sensibility in Nigeria.
By donating medical equipment and supplies, Foundation has helped improve diagnostic
capabilities, expand treatment options, and save countless lives. The organization's work
has also contributed to the overall development of healthcare infrastructure and the
empowerment of local healthcare providers.
From 2013 to date, through our humanitarian efforts, over 400 US dollars, 400 million
dollars, worth of free medical equipment and hospital supplies, have donated to communities
in three countries by both Saga Foundation and Naya Canada under the leadership of Shola
Agula, founder of Saga Foundation Inc.
and the Media Past Cread, and Nigerian Association for Young adults of Canada. By
providing three million of equivalent supplies.
We aim to strengthen health care infrastructure, enhance patient care, and contribute
improved health outcomes. Our donations include a wide range of essential items such as
hospital beds, surgical instruments, diagnostic equipment, personal protective gear, and
medicines that many states in Nigeria by Kebi, Niger, Emo, by Beielsa, Abia, Jagawa, Ogan
and Oson states have benefited from.
Join us in our mission to make a difference and help us create a world where access to
health care is a fundamental right and not a privilege.
Together we can build a brighter future for all. While under the guidance of Shola Agula
serving as both the president of Naya Canada and currently as the founder CEO of
Saagafoundation Canada, these entities have successfully asked you to numerous projects
that are made to
essential impacts in the fields of healthcare, education, and humanitarian endeavors. These
endeavors have brought considerable benefits to various communities and institutions.
Perhaps you may recognize some of these locations that Saga has had a major impact. I'll
just go read to you not the locations, not the names, but the locations.
They include email state, heavy state, per user state, ozone state, consumer county Kenya,
Abia state, Niger state, Jigawas state, Mumbai, India, and again, throughout Nigeria.
This began in 2013. This is a 10 year effort on the part of the Saga Foundation. I'm very
proud to be chairman of the International Advisory Board, but we also address educational
programs, donate books, computers, classroom projects, laptops.
the clothing and other educational material. Again, this discovers work that we've been doing
on our own to address what is an ongoing disaster recovery project or program.
So at the very end of the cycle recovery is the longest portion of the steps that are involved
with disaster.
So on behalf of the Second Foundation, want to invite you to connect with us. I am the
International Chairperson, so you can check and that would be directly.
And you can go to our website where you can register as a volunteer or to the need to work
that we're doing around the world.
So Ambassador James, I'm going to ask you again if you can unmute yourself so we can
move towards getting the attendance for today and closing out today's session.

Phase 1 will be dealing with the United Nations Global Compact, Phase 2, Chair in Reclimbant, Phase 3, establishing and strengthening local networks, Phase 4, working for business for peace, and Phase 5 to build community resiliency, neighborhood empowerment and economic development networks. This is a document that was actually filed with the United Nations, so the work we're doing now is just a continuation of the commitment that we made. Specifically, we are looking to work through interfaith and neighborhood partnerships, while the Sustainable Development Goals were aligned. The left will see that we set a goal back in 2015 of raising awareness about that at that time that brand new sustainable development goals. We were able to have over 50,000 unique hits on social media, but that was only done through a collaboration myself and over 100 people ambassadors. At that time, we were working with Lady Alicia Hamilton, will be joining us later today and the revelation network. And TR International, where I'm hosting regular events to address challenges that we're facing. In fact, this today's show is actually being streamed live onto our international as well. There's a very specific outcome of our time to accomplish. We're trying to raise the awareness so that nonprofit organizations around the world can join the United Nations Global Compact or whether you join or not.

To uphold thosequestions. principles of the United Nations Global Compact and holding accountable those 15,000 businesses around the world that are already members of the United Nations Global Compact. They make commitments on a regular basis for their corporate social responsibility objectives. So we're asking you to be able to understand that they have commitments in 10 to these 10 principles and they're cover four major areas. One is human rights, another is labor, environment, and anti-proruption. This information is easily available. Just go to www.unclobalcompact.org and you'll find out all this information. This is a model that we began using in 2015 and we're now suggesting that you members of this volunteer workshop consider to take advantage of the resources that are commonly available to accomplish worldwide objectives that you can use in your local community. That's the whole point of this exercise to provide you information that is available that you can use locally. I actually coined the term, globalize. That's localized with a G in front of it. So we can deliver local solutions that we source globally and local and global solutions that we, and local, solution that we source globally. So this is an exchange, a transfer of information. There's a very simple United Nations Global Compact Management model that any organization can use. You do not have to be a member of the United Nations Global Compact to use the resources that they make available. This is the model that we're using. First, there must be a commitment on a prior leadership. Then you have to assess the opportunities, define your goals, objectives, implement your policies, measure, and monitor all the outcomes, communicate that information to the general public, and then start the cycle of already all over again. Back in 2015, as I said, our first focus was on a caring for climate plan of action. This is even more important now because the places in the first that are where people are most likely to die from the adverse impacts of climate change are also in those places with the least number of these local networks. So part of our objective is to find out what's happening on a global scale so that you can engage your government and with policies your government is already committed to that you can adapt to your local situation. So when you go knocking on their doors, you're going in with information, sharing climate, any organization in the world can just go to caring for climate for its lash.

I'm sorry, theycan go to climate caring for climate at UN.org and they can make commitment to focus on these objectives. of caring for climate and let's see if I can change my spring so you can see more of what I'm trying to share with you here. Yes, so there is impact. The United Nations Global Compact caring for climate to build community resiliency. So business people around the world realize the climate change and environmental degradation holds important new risk and opportunities for their companies, competitors, growth and development. As I scroll down here, you'll see that there are caring for climate offers maximum value for the Singapore Global level, including the ability to demonstrate leadership, increase your ability, showcase action, share best practices and shape policy agenda. All the information. is very relevant to you and our work about this after planning preparation and recovery, because you're going to have to engage with the existing framework in order to know how what you're doing locally can benefit from the work that's already been done. This is the caring for climate, business leadership platform, this is a statement where business leaders make a commitment to taking further practical actions to address climate impact in their local communities, their expectations from governments, but also expectations from the businesses themselves. And again, no one has to be a member of anything to simply go online and register to register to make this commitment so that you individually can take responsibility for your own work. So companies can join caring for climate by simply endorsing the caring for climate statement to join the highest level executive to sign a copy of the climate theory for climate. I'm a statement. And send it to the Care for Climate Sanitary Act at carrying the number four climate at UN.org. And please CC me at 5.0%gmail.com. In 2015, we've made a special effort, as I said, to focus on creating our planet. Because there is no planet beat. This is the only planet we have to work with. As you can see, we also support growing food as one of the ways that we can support our local communities. This is an introduction of the United Nations plans. I'm sorry, initiatives. This, however, has been discontinued. It's a cities program where cities and entire cities were asked to make the commitment on what have their entire populations to focus on these goals and objectives. However, the best This for Peace platform is still in place. And this is one of the areas where we'll be asking those in Nigeria in particular to take advantage of this opportunity.

There are severalorganizations set up around the world and Nigeria just happens to be one of those countries that does have a local network focused on. Business for Peace. So recognizing that local ownership and knowledge are vital to driving change. Business for Peace is adopted a locally driven approach. Business for Peace works to develop the capacity of global compact local networks to support participants in their efforts to conduct responsible business practices and advanced peace, which is the commitment. Folk. 18 local networks have already joined in this foreign movement, including Canada, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, India, Iraq, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey, Uganda, Ukraine, United States. and it came in. And before we begin today's presentation, I do want to again ask you to find out more about these local networks. There are particular people that we can reach to share the work that you're doing in your local area with what we're trying to accomplish worldwide. Again, today this is 2023. We began this effort in 2015, so we're building faith-based and neighborhood partnerships for the sustainable development goal. And a worldwide global compact for business and community resiliency networks. Focusing on sustainable development goal number 17, multi stakeholder partnerships. One of the day's guest is Lady Alicia Hamilton. At that time in 2015 and even now, two is responsible for making sure we have access to a global market for a global audience. And again, we're streaming right now on Facebook on the Chair in International News website. as well as New World Network website, which is now the parent of this organization. You can find information about which is doing a PAC read, and that's again focused on preparation and awareness for community resiliency and emergencies and disasters. So we're asking subject matter experts here to join this collaboration. Again, this is not something we're just thought of right now. The subject has been going on for quite some time. Our other special guest this week will be Charles D. Sharpe, CEO of the Black Emergency Managers Association, both Lady Alicia and I, our lifetime members of BIMA, and we believe it is and critically important that you and your local area consider joining BIMA as non-profit organizations, but also to get your businesses involved as well so you can connect that dot. I'll make this document available to all of the participants whose email addresses that we have. So you can find the background information about our speakers today and I'm going to

But you can see that the work we're doing has impact on a wide area of hazards not just five wildfires but floods. They were all experienced around the world. There is no planet B so the effort is to all engage our activities and finding out how we can work together to leverage to lead to have a major impact on the outcomes for our local communities and worldwide. So Pastor James again I'm going to ask you if you can thank you. @34:10 - Chaplain James Mercy O. I'm using my phone because I'm coming in. I think if call comes in, it comes that way. It's a pleasure meeting you again. This is Chaplin James. Maybe from World Man in Theory and Organization for Peace and Ethnic. It is a pleasure day once again today starting another program for volunteers on this as a, this as a management, this as a preparedness, this as a recovery and so on and so forth. In this program, we are going to let mom have a watch. This is all about and how can we come in as individual organizations. What's the rule? Are we going to play? This is part of what we are going to learn in this program. And we have facilitators and special guests for this program. And that is why we waited a bit for more to join us. But the quite number we're having here now, we are about 25 already. It is a good start in this program and we are splitting more to join us. We have also told you that when you are entering a training like this, we are spending due to input your name in your name, shall ask you a comment. We want you as you are coming in to put in your name.

When you are coming into a program, putting your name, we can see some others putting in their phone name, or people in one K. couldn't understand that. Please, if you have not put your name, please do that. To help us know who is attending the program. And it will help us to input your name rightfully into your certificate. Hint of training after this training. So I want to say congratulations for those that participated in our programs. Congratulations for those joining us today. As we proceed officially further into this program, are having his agency, Dr. Ambasidou Andrew William-Gino, who has taken us for a couple of weeks and is also here today. We want to say thank you, Ambassador Andrew, for all you do and what you have been doing for humanity, for who and for the world in general. We have to appreciate you, I will say thank you. And the special guest for today is Sir Dr. Shahz David. I don't know if he's here with us already. This today, Iapologize to all of you. Normally, we get started freshly into our content. But in many of you have already here before, but we are trying to reach a new audience. So I want to bring us back to where we began. Again, I mentioned earlier to you that our situation is that climate change is having a negative impact all over the world. And our objective is to find ways that we can adapt to that. I'll share with you this booklet where, again, those areas don't highlight it at the top of the map on the right-hand side that have the darkest color, where they're the most intense impact of climate change. at the bottom where you see the light area, that's the place where the least number of local networks. I do want to give you full, all of you full respect and ask you to respect your selves, particularly those in Africa, because while the world is talking about the sustainable development goals, we don't talk about the fact that it was the African Union of Gen. 26, 23 that provides some basis for the bulk of the content that we use now for the sustainable development goals. So, it's really like it's yours. It's not something that someone's trying to impose upon us, it's something that we own, but we have to take advantage of that. Again, we're trying to work within the context of the United Nations Global Compact, dealing with these principles affecting everyone, human rights, labor, anticarption, and transparency. It's important that we all again decide and identify which of these 17 sustainable development goals your work is. is most focused on. We do understand that your work may impact one or more. We ask you to, again, indicate to us which of these 17 sustainable development goals you're focused on. This booklet will be given out to everyone here. It describes the United Nations Global Top Pack initiatives that anyone can participate whether you are a number or not. And finally, on the right-hand side, we will have a registration form so that your non- governmental organization can register with us. This will also be available on the whole website so that you will be able to easily plan ways to identify the skills and abilities that you have and how they're most relevant to the work that's going all around the world. SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH So our presentation will begin. I'm going to briefly share my screen. worldwide effort aroundthe world and is focused on something called the SINDA framework for disaster risk reduction. Now that may not sound familiar to you, but it's important that you understand the background of what it is that we're doing. SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH So I'm going to share with you this brief video. you Okay, I'll just now connectivity. So, Patrick James is not just in Nigeria where you have these challenges. SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH I'm going to begin again. Thank you. Thank you. Many I think. I think you are correct. We should get. Though... Thank Well, thank you so much for that very brief review of what the SENDA framework disaster risk reduction is. But to give you a further in-depth understanding of what it is, let's go back to the beginning. Again, what we're talking about now did not begin yesterday. SCREEN SHARING: Andrewnetworks.com started screen sharing - WATCH This is an ongoing collaboration. And this all began alongside the 2015 Paris climate change and also the 2015 launch of the sustainable development goals. The SENDA framework was established to focus on global challenges targets to achieve the 2020-20 2015 and 2030. Again, this information is publicly available. You can just type in prevention web and send-out framework at a glance and this information will pop up. We will of course provide you with these links, but we do want to make sure you're able to access this information, whether you ever hear from us again or not, we're empowering you to empower yourself and your community. The entire world is focused on these seven targets achieved by 2030. The intent is to substantially reduce a global disaster mortality, be the number of affected people, see economic loss in relation to both national products, and be damaged, equitable infrastructure, and services disruptions. e. The number of countries with national and local disaster risk reduction strategies. health, international cooperation to developing countries, and G, and access to early warning systems and disaster risk reduction information.
  • 17.
So those arethe areas on the left hand side of the purple. We want to reduce global disaster mortality, reduce the number of affected people, reduce economic loss, and reduce damage to critical infrastructure. At the same time, we want to, on the right, increase the number of countries and nations, and communities for the local disaster reduction strategies, international cooperation by developing countries, and availability and access to early warning systems and information. What I'm asking you to do is take human right number 29 responsibility and find ways that you can use in your local community, what these countries are doing. on a global scale, only then when you have conversation with your governments can they understand that you're talking the same language that they are. These are terms and terms and explanations that you need to familiarize yourself with. We're in a focus of lifelong learning. So for example, we have to focus on the stoke and purpose of your activity, expected outcome, goal and targets. This is true not just for disaster risk reduction, but also for any business operation. But one of the key things are the term of what your priorities are for action. In terms of disaster planning, priority one is understanding the disaster risk. Priority number two, strengthening disaster risk governance to manage disaster risk. Priority three, investing in disaster risk reduction for resilience. Priority number four, enhance disaster preparedness for effective response and to build back better and recovery rehabilitation and reconstruction. Again, this is not something we're asking you to do on your own, we're asking you to understand that governments have made the commitment to achieve these objectives, but you can only participate with them when you know what they are. So there are several guiding principles that governments are asked to follow. We're asking you, as responsible volunteers, to find out more about how to take advantage of this opportunity to educate yourself and educate your community. On this page, you can click on this link and get more information. There is, in fact, entire curriculum around this where you can plan out more about what the specific tools and resources are. This is a SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction. And I do want to say to you that the name SINDI is not just a made up word. It's actually a place in Japan, SINDI Japan, which is where this framework was launched, where the meeting was held to launch this framework.
  • 18.
Now, all ofyou here are, in fact, members of just the United Nations, but members of your local community. But you have representatives at the highest levels of government working on this SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction. In particular, this right now is called the midterm review. It was launched in 2015, just as we're halfway towards accomplishing or addressing the sustainable development goals, we're halfway through the SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction. So there's high level of political meetings. that are being held at the United Nations, where people representing all parts of the world are having these conversations. So it's again important for you to educate yourself about how your representative is speaking about these areas on an international and national basis that actually impact you locally. So again, you can go find out where these activities are happening. For example, earlier this year there was a high level meeting for the midterm review of the SINDI framework. And may there is a risk reduction hub where there was an area of session side events and engagements in preparation for what we now have as the report for the midterm review of the SINDI framework. Again, your phone or your computer is your best library right now because all you have to do is is this click on a link to get additional information. In particular, this particular report deals with the mentor review of the implementation of the SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction 2015 through 2020. This is not long, so I'll just read it to you for those of you who aren't able to access it. The United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction expresses its appreciation to member states and non-state stakeholders for their commitment to consultations, review, and reporting, which allow the assembly of this important collection of findings and recommendations to guide amplified and accelerated action in the implementation of the SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction 2015 through 2030. The report of the midterm review of the implementation of the SINDI framework for disaster risk reduction 2015. In the 2030. We have available at all six official languages of the United Nations. This report together with the report of the main findings and recommendations of the mid-term review of the implementation of the SINDA framework for disaster risk production published on January 31, 2023.

Respond to themandate as outlined, which invites states to assess progress, gaps, and challenges in the implementation of the SINDA framework at the local, national, regional, and global levels to share findings, good practices, and recommendations. We have the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Production to may include it in the report and the mid-term review. In addition, D.R.R. assembled a collection of good practices, but then, if I have member states and extracted from the volunteer and national reports, on the mid-term review of the SINDA framework, as well as from formal submissions. by stakeholders. So again, you can easily find this information out. It's readily available. I'm just asking you to take the time and invest the effort in finding out how this work impacts your local community. We are fast approaching what's known as COP28. For those of you on the continent, you may or may not know the dishes after the climate week took place from the 4th to the 8th of September in Nairobi, hosted by I bring this information up to you because of trying to address areas of disaster awareness, planning preparation and recovery. They depend on more than your local efforts. They depend upon you. connecting with global efforts and national efforts that are money and partners already in place that are able to help work with you to address issues in your local community. I'll ask you to look in your own community. I will think in particular Abuja and Layos but for those of you not in those major cities connect with hope so we can engage with you directly at the United States of level. There are several organizations that address this issue but in particular you have the UN Development Program, UN Environment Program, UN Climate Change and World Bank Group. These are your global partners and the regional partners as you may know include the African Union, ECA and the African Development Bank. Again this is just an overview in general of the activities that are happening on a global scale to address these areas of disaster awareness. I'll do that after planning, preparation and recovery. So Pastor James, I'm going to put a break in here and ask we can now take the official roll call of our individuals. And if Mr. Sharpen's not here about then, we'll reconvene for tomorrow. But Pastor James, I'm going to at this point stop sharing my screen and allow us to do the homework or the housekeeping chores, making sure we have the attendees here. So that everyone can get credit for the attendance. So Pastor James, are you here? Can you come back please?

So, encouraged to help them to acquire transportation to go back to the side of the fire so that they could acquire their possessions that remained. And then we did follow up here for those who were relocated to the apartment complex that was donated. We were able to help later on with making sure they have proper prescriptions for their medications that the children could get to school and have transportation for childcare for younger children for recovering their technological devices, right? So, they could work things of that nature. We also did the reporting. on all of these things and I was able to input data regarding how many people were in a household, what things were required for their immediate care and following up with doctors appointments as well as spiritual care which would include me being a Christian chaplain, I would deal with those who were Christians but then those who were of other religious denominations and what not we would refer them to their denomination or to their religious institution. So I have been able to participate in those things and it wasn't some parts of it were more organized than others, some could definitely use help but for the most part we were able to see to the people which was the most important part it's very rewarding and I highly recommend that you look into to the Red Cross as just one of the organizations that is that does these things, but there are many NGOs, there are many organizations that help with disaster planning recovery, reuniting family members back together, seeing to pets care because there's a new branch of humanitarian efforts in order to people for people to reunite with their pets actually. And then of course all of the range of religious services if people want to attend a service or they want to you know speak with a chaplain all of those things. So it's very rewarding and I highly recommend it for anyone who's interested in humanitarian care and specifically advancing the sustainable development goals in that area regarding reducing poverty, reducing the lack of education etc. different sustainable development goals that interact with the humanitarian aid. during disasters. If you could, anyone who has information about any organization that provides disaster planning, reparation awareness for recovery, type that into the chat. Let us know if you know. But this information is online, so it's available not just to those here in the United States. It's also available to you in Africa and Italy and Europe and Asia anywhere around the world. There is a prep toolkit and the National Preparedness System. This system is an online portal that provides a whole community with tools to implement all six areas of the National Preparedness System. All you have to do is look at this whole community approach wheel and it begins with identifying and assessing risks, estimating capability requirements, building and sustaining capability. Plan to deliver capabilities, validating capabilities, and reviewing and updating your capabilities. Because things change once you click on one of these polls, it will take you to another page where it gives you background, tools, links, critical linkages, and information that's critical to you understanding what is necessary for your local community to engage with your national preparedness plan. Work that's done at a national level means absolutely nothing if your local community is not able to engage with the existing framework in place. This wheel just gives you various information so that you can better educate yourself about what skillsets are needed, what information is needed, also all you have to do is just click on this wheel. to find out information more about how you can find existing content and information that you can use right this minute. There are online training and educational tools, particularly I'm here in Los Angeles. We were replaced where it was founded, was called Sir, the Community Emergency Response Teams. But again, I'm beginning with an overview today, just on a national basis. So I'm not asking any of you to do anything except think about ways that you can begin to use these tools so that you can prepare yourself to address disaster in your area.

Are you able now to tell us a little bit more in specifics about specific organizations for activities or projects that you've provided, Hamza, a deal with disaster management. Are you still with us? Hamza, can you unmute yourself? And if not, I'll turn it back over to you, Pastor James, to get a roll call of our today's participants and make sure that we have the attendance for Those that are here to actually make sure that they are actually here and participate. And it's appreciated not just on a local basis, but on a national basis. I'm going to share my screen with you briefly here, if I can. Let's see here. Here in United States again, I have to start from where I'm at. What you'll find is that there are many people involved with major corporations or even governmental agencies that are themselves doing outstanding volunteerism locally in abroad. This was just released today from the United States Foreign Service Department. Eight winners will receive the Assessutes of the American Foreign Service worldwide Secretary of State Award by outstanding volunteerism abroad at a ceremony to be held November 9 at 10.38 am in the Benjamin Franklin Room of the Department of State. Director General Marsha as Brickhat will highlight the winner's exemplary service and present the awards at the ceremony. Secretary Blinken will deliver a video message of congratulation.
