What is DigitalClone Live
9/1/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
The Next Generation of Asset Management.
DigitalClone Live is a responsive web application that
extends the life of rotating equipment and reduces
maintenance costs.
DigitalClone Live uses physics based models,
computational resources, and sensor integration to give
the earliest visibility into component and system
damage. This allows users to identify failures years in
advance. With this early failure detection, operators can
quantify how their operational decisions will extend life
and maximize the trade-offs of machinery availability and
costs.

Where the Work Gets Done
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
The time required for the servicing of industrial equipment, and the associated costs, are partly driven by the
environment where these activities take place. A significant portion of work takes place out in the field, where workers
travel to the machine or site. Another portion occurs in service centers, where machines are brought to common
shops to be worked on. Finally, an important part of the work is done in operation centers.
Out in the Field Operation CentersService Center
DigitalClone Live has to interface with all of these environments and the people in them.

Industrial Internet
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
What is the Industrial Internet?
The Industrial Internet refers to the integration of complex
physical machinery with networked sensors and software. The
industrial Internet draws together fields such as machine
learning, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to-
machine communication and Cyber-physical system to ingest
data from machines, analyze it (often in real-time) and use it to
adjust operations. -- Wikipedia
How does DigitalClone Live utilize the Industrial Internet?
DigitalClone Live connects with field assets and collects real-
time data. in this example using a Wind Turbine, it will apply
the real-time use case to the assumptions made in the
Prognostic Model in order to forecast the time to observable
damage. By understanding how and when a field asset will fail
a Owner/Operator can utilize the DigitalClone Live interface to:
•  Formulate Long Term Budgets
•  Determine Life Extension Options
•  Manage/Delay Asset Failure
•  Seek a Maximize Return on Investment

Project Goals & Challenges
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
Main Project Goal:
To design a User Experience that is intuitive to navigate
for multiple user sets, clearly display information that is
important to those users and have a positive impact on
their daily routine.
Biggest Project Challenge:
1.  To make a responsive Web Application that is
displayed easily in the field on a mobile device and in
a Operations Center on a large monitor.
2.  Create a solution that allows for ease of navigation of
massive amounts of information.
3.  Engage the user so that they would provide data
updates to maintain the forecast accuracy.
DigitalClone® Live
A Few User Stories
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
Executive:
When an Executive logs into DigitalClone, they want to be able to access high level information (Fleet, Region and Site Level) that
assist them in making decisions that define the long-term and short-term strategies of the company. This is so they can effectively
mitigate risk and maximizes the companies return on investment.
O&M Manager:
When an O&M Manager logs into DigitalClone, they want to be able to see fleet health information along with financial projections for
the coming 2 to 5 years. This is so they can develop long-term budgets and make informed financial decisions.
Fleet Manager:
When a Fleet Manager logs into DigitalClone, they want to be able to be able to access fleet health information, do trade-off studies of
different maintenance options and along with financial projections for the coming 2 to 5 years. This is so they can develop long-term
budgets and make informed financial decisions.
Operator:
When a Operator logs into DigitalClone, they want to be able to see Site, Asset, System and Component information that helps the
determine what issues their wind turbines may be facing. This will allow them to determine the best course of action to extend an
Assets life or how to best manage the failure of that asset.
Field Engineer:
When a Field Engineer logs into DigitalClone, they should be presented with a list of Assets that they need to focus on for the day and
the inspection materials that they should collect to be uploaded to DigitalClone. This will allow the user to have a clear list of tasks as
well as streamlining the data input directly into the lifing models to keep a high accuracy level for DigitalClone.

Pitch Document - UX Awards
Concept Sketches
GOAL:
Entering the software at a high level
provides the user with a quick glimpse of
their fleet and the status of sites within
the entire fleet. The popover
functionality allows the user to see more
details and navigate to each specific site
to view the full report.

Concept Sketches
GOAL:
To give the user a visual insight into the
status of components with a gearbox
and to see the relationship between
components. By introducing popover
functionality the user can now see high
level information that pertains to a
specific component along with taking
action on said component.
DigitalClone® Live
Feature – Inspect Component
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
GOAL:
In order to keep the the lifing model up-to-date
and to provide diagnostic, instead of just
prognostic, predictive capabilities. The user
has the ability to input their inspection results
into DigitalClone Live, which will allow users to
validate our predictive models. This feature,
like others, encourages the user to participate
with the software so that they can obtain the
most accurate models to work from.
DigitalClone® Live
Feature – Replace Component
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
GOAL:
In order to keep the Bill of Materials
(BOM) up-to-date, which will improve
predictive accuracy, the user has the
ability to input information pertaining to
the replacement of a major component
or a sub-component. This feature, like
others, encourages the user to
participate with the software so that they
can obtain the most accurate models to
work from.
DigitalClone® Live
Feature – Settings (Manage Users)
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
GOAL:
To obtain the most accurate results, the
user is responsible for reporting
assumption changes, such as a
component replacement. By giving
different access level to the user group
you are directing the user to the
information that is most important to their
role in an organization. This will simplify
the user experience and make the
experience more intuitive because
excess information will not become
distracting to the user experience.

Conclusion
8/31/15
Pitch Document - UX Awards
It takes a number a data sources and user types to provide accurate
DigitalClone Live results.
The main goal is to create a User Experience that engages all users along the
information flow within an organization. By creating a User Experience that is
intuitive and responsive, DigitalClone Live will be able to be engrain within a
users daily and weekly routines. By creating a positive experience for the user,
this will motivate engagement, which will provide DigitalClone with the most up-
to-date data, which will create accurate forecasts. The power of these forecasts
is seen once you apply them to business assumptions. This information will
provide users information that will allow them to make confident short-term and
long-term decisions.
