This document discusses energy benchmarking, reporting, and data access policies across major US cities. It notes that buildings account for 70-75% of greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage in large cities. Benchmarking and disclosure policies have now been implemented in several cities, covering over 4 billion square feet of commercial space. Preliminary results from New York City's benchmarking program found high compliance rates and increased energy efficiency improvements at many buildings.
In October 2011, WRI launched a five-year global initiative to advance the progress of building environmentally sustainable and livable cities in China, India, and Brazil. We intend to develop low-carbon city models and pathways for environmentally sustainable urbanization, by partnering with four urban centers to increase energy efficiency, curb greenhouse gas emissions, and improve water quality, urban mobility and land use.

Energy Managementโs Hottest Couple: Utility Bill & Interval DataUrjanet
ย
Although many organizations are beginning to formalize and implement energy management strategies, it can sometimes be a struggle to get buy-in from your CFO or other executives. They often need to see justification for investing in energy efficiency projects, such as a financial cost-benefit analysis model. But, how do you gather and organize all of this information to present a business case? What if you only have interval data tracked in kilowatt-hours? How do you translate usage information into dollars, a language that everyone can easily understand? By combining utility bill and interval data and using this data in software to understand how your organizationโs facilities are performing, you will be able to quantify the results of simply replacing a few pieces of inefficient equipment or the likely outcome of carrying out a sweeping organizational shift in energy consumption policies and procedures.

Big Data BlackOut: Are Utilities Powering Up Their Data Analytics?Capgemini

Analytics is seeing greater recognition amongst utility executives. Our research showed that 80% of utilities consider big data analytics as a source of new business opportunities and 75% see it as crucial for future success. Big Data indeed offers an exciting opportunity to transform utility operational effectiveness, while at the same time dealing with the historical problem of low customer satisfaction. Take operational efficiency alone. The annual cost of weather-related power outages to the U.S. economy is estimated to be between $18 billion to $33 billion. Organizations can use Big Data analytics to detect operational challenges and prevent outages, substantially reducing costs. Big Data also affords opportunities to utilities for inventing new business models through the data generated by the smart infrastructure.
The analytics opportunity for utilities is clear, but there continues to be a lack of real impetus and value delivery. Only 20% have already implemented big data analytics initiatives. What is putting the brakes on utilities?
In this paper, we highlight the big data opportunities that utilities can leverage and identify the challenges that are currently holding them back. We conclude the paper with concrete recommendations on how to ensure analytics drive business value.

www.seribangash.com
A Memorandum of Association (MOA) is a legal document that outlines the fundamental principles and objectives upon which a company operates. It serves as the company's charter or constitution and defines the scope of its activities. Here's a detailed note on the MOA:
Contents of Memorandum of Association:
Name Clause: This clause states the name of the company, which should end with words like "Limited" or "Ltd." for a public limited company and "Private Limited" or "Pvt. Ltd." for a private limited company.
https://seribangash.com/article-of-association-is-legal-doc-of-company/
Registered Office Clause: It specifies the location where the company's registered office is situated. This office is where all official communications and notices are sent.
Objective Clause: This clause delineates the main objectives for which the company is formed. It's important to define these objectives clearly, as the company cannot undertake activities beyond those mentioned in this clause.
www.seribangash.com
Liability Clause: It outlines the extent of liability of the company's members. In the case of companies limited by shares, the liability of members is limited to the amount unpaid on their shares. For companies limited by guarantee, members' liability is limited to the amount they undertake to contribute if the company is wound up.
https://seribangash.com/promotors-is-person-conceived-formation-company/
Capital Clause: This clause specifies the authorized capital of the company, i.e., the maximum amount of share capital the company is authorized to issue. It also mentions the division of this capital into shares and their respective nominal value.
Association Clause: It simply states that the subscribers wish to form a company and agree to become members of it, in accordance with the terms of the MOA.
Importance of Memorandum of Association:
Legal Requirement: The MOA is a legal requirement for the formation of a company. It must be filed with the Registrar of Companies during the incorporation process.
Constitutional Document: It serves as the company's constitutional document, defining its scope, powers, and limitations.
Protection of Members: It protects the interests of the company's members by clearly defining the objectives and limiting their liability.
External Communication: It provides clarity to external parties, such as investors, creditors, and regulatory authorities, regarding the company's objectives and powers.
https://seribangash.com/difference-public-and-private-company-law/
Binding Authority: The company and its members are bound by the provisions of the MOA. Any action taken beyond its scope may be considered ultra vires (beyond the powers) of the company and therefore void.
Amendment of MOA:
While the MOA lays down the company's fundamental principles, it is not entirely immutable. It can be amended, but only under specific circumstances and in compliance with legal procedures. Amendments typically require shareholder

Demand and Competitiveness: โSunlight is the best disinfectantโ โ building energy performance will be transparent, and building operators will be accountable for ongoing performance. Creates organic competition in the marketplace that will drive demand for improvement without public subsidies.
Led by strong mayoral leadership, cities are making a difference by adopting strong policy packages that addressing market failures by increasing energy performance transparency and implementing other strategies to catalyze demand for energy-efficient buildings.
