Uthman ibn Affan was the third Rashidun Caliph who ordered the compilation of the standard Quran. He was married to two of Prophet Muhammad's daughters and helped expand Islam after converting from Christianity. As Caliph, Uthman continued the conquests of Islam, expanded the Prophet's Mosque, and standardized the Quran. However, revolts emerged against his rule and he was ultimately martyred by rebels in his home in 656 AD while reading the Quran.
