o Share books at other branches that patrons can request
o Tips
 When posting a video make sure that you’re in a quiet area where you
won’t get interrupted, the background is aesthetically pleasing like
bookshelves
 Keep track of the books you talk about so you don’t repeat any
(especially helpful when you have someone new takeover the account)
 You can create a script of what you want to say on your computer
 Librarian Alanna Graves recommends taking a still photo of the book
cover if you’re doing a book chat so students can take a screenshot

o Video resource: Refinery29 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwhtUKzlPTc
(good example of stickers/emoji in a snap story, also fun and quirky)
 You could do something like this with teachers/librarians in your library
o Social media strategist I interviewed revealed that they retain 100% of their
audience at 1 ½ seconds, 90% at 10 seconds, 80% at 25 seconds, 60% at 46
seconds, 40% at 110 seconds, and then it levels out dramatically. Based on that
data he revealed that “basically if you’re able to keep someone past 110
seconds, you can keep them infinitely.” With that in mind his team tries to
“frontload” their videos with priority messaging, but do not shy away from
longer videos because they still have an audience for that format.
