Social media has changed to the way we participate in social good and activism. Many critics of digital activism fail to recognize the influence it has made in past few years. Associating all clicktivism to slackivism is incorrect
This was a presentation I did at Cebit to encourage entrepreneurs to keep building and growing. Research and logic suggests that a dollar invested in a business in a downtime gets 3 times the return than a dollar invested in a boom time. Things are cheaper, and by the time the return comes, the market has swung back up.
So invest in your own business. Build people, platforms and processes. Get ready, the next boom will be upon us.

More and more people are talking about you and your organization online. They can also easily find out what others are saying about your business, whether it’s good or bad. Sometimes, they’re unable to tell the difference between what’s true or what’s simply an opinion or even a lie.
With millions of active users online, it’s no surprise that online misunderstandings, reputational harm and public relations disasters are commonplace. Knowing how to actively mitigate against these problems is vital in today’s global environment.
Takeaways:
• Execute your conflict inventory and assessment.
• Clearly identify your specific online conflict management goals.
• Determine whether you need to bury negative information about your organization.
• Create your unique social media conflict resolution response flow chart.
• Draft a robust employee social media policy.
A slide series with famous and not so well-known quotes. December Issue 2010.

I tried to put together two things:
- an analysis of the new practices we need to create enduring and impacting enterprise in a time of radical change
- a practical 10 rules guide to be adopted.

Are you prepared to implement a social media campaign to share information about your company’s food products
and their attributes? Social media is forecasted to be one of the hottest strategic trends for 2009. This session will
introduce you to the potential opportunities presented by social media, and enhance your ability to execute a
social media campaign. Through a discussion of case studies, you’ll discover the dos and don’ts of this new approach
to marketing.
Originally presented at the Social Media Integration Conference in Atlanta, Nick Westergaard outlines six lessons learned about social media use in advocacy campaigns ranging from politics to public initiatives and issues. Learn more at NickWestergaard.com
The internet is a powerful way to get your message across to the right audience. Social media sites like YouTube, Twitter, Flickr, MySpace, and Facebook can help raise awareness for your cause, build a network of support, coordinate events and create change. We'll explore the Dos and Don'ts of social networking, as well as hear some inspiring examples of how other nonprofits have used social media to advance their cause & broadcast their message to the world.
Content may be king, but visuals rule. All the latest studies and statistics suggest that images on social media command more attention than text alone. If you want more likes, comments, shares, retweets, and clicks, you want to include pictures with your social media posts. You want to be more visual. Designed to help social media marketers increase their organization’s social media engagement levels, this presentation explains and demonstrates the power of the visual in social media posts.
By using these tactics, you will succeed in growing your company's number of Twitter connections and, consequently, increasing your organization's ability to reach more current and future customers in the social space.
This presentation was developed by Bob Cargill, Director of Social Media at Boston-based digital marketing agency, Overdrive Interactive. It was the first of three segments that comprised a panel discussion entitled "Social Media Strategies, Shortcuts and Secrets," given at NEDMA's Annual Conference on May 14, 2014.
Make your product viral, don't just add it at the end. Put social, sharing, people at the heart of your products.
Mainly visual, but some good homework at the end.
--A talk about networking online via social media---
In this wksp a third of participants were using social media fair bit, at a reasonably high level.
The rest weren't using it much (at least not with regards to networking) – and wanted to understand better the value and why & how they should use it.
In order to balance the needs of both groups this wksp focused on:
- Why social media and networking online is so valuable and lauded.
- Opening participants mind to some possibilities of how to best use it.
-- Basically--
-The Why(s)
-Facebook
-Linkedin
-Twitter
-Ideas to elevate what you’re doing

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.
