Research and getting to the goal
• Research was done on New Jersey Department of Transportation accident
data and it revealed that at the state level, the reporting for bike crashes is
not available.
• A meeting and a partnership with the Chief of Police found that bike crash
data is available at the street level.
• Bringing in actual user stories is critical to such a project where bikers are
able to discuss their issues that concern them.
• The tool will be a visual representation or a map of the most hazardous
intersections, provide bikers with safe times to bike and also for municipal
staff who will be the users, in presenting findings from the traffic data and
for planning and road/traffic measures.
