This document proposes a campaign called "Use Waste" to address waste management in India by implementing biodigesters. Biodigesters convert organic waste into biogas and biosolids. Biogas can be used as fuel and biosolids as fertilizer. The campaign would repurpose existing outreach teams to educate communities on building and using biodigesters. It aims to incentivize proper waste management through economic and social benefits while avoiding public shaming approaches.

Transformation of traditional village into eco-villageRamesh Bhandari
We have defined eco-village as a rural human settlement with all members committed to sustainably manage locally available natural resources with integrated comprehensive human right based approach to meet their social, spiritual, psychological, physical (including technological) and economic needs without any negative impact on natural ecosystems, resources, climate and health. Ecovillage thus addresses the social, spiritual or cultural, ecological and techno-economic discrepancies and instabilities through sustainable community based structures, practices and concepts from holistic right based perspectives.
Ecovillage has social, physical, spiritual or cultural and ecological (including techno-economic) structures or systems. Each system has subsystems that interact with each other.

Pepsi's Dream Machine and Refresh Project: Enabling Aspired ChangeSustainable Brands
Sustainability at PepsiCo takes many forms, yet two specific programs are aimed at behavior change, crowdsourced philanthropy, recycling, and incentives. Meagan Smith talks about the highly-innovative Dream Machine initiative and the Refresh Project. All in all, they're designed to empower Americans to do good, while supporting great ideas that move the world forward.
CoCo San Sustainable Farm is a 14.8 acre farm on public buffer land right in the middle of a heavy industrial area. The farm uses recycled water, high in nitrogen, which is otherwise discarded into Suisan Bay (part of San Francisco Bay). We grow fresh produce using sustainable agricultural methods and hydroponic greenhouse growing to provide produce to the Food Bank and Schools.

Get Wasted, Session 4: The Low Hanging Fruit = Food WasteGA Circular
This is the slide deck presented at our 4th event of a pressing Series on 'Circular Economy & Waste Management' in Asia.
Globally, about 1/3 of the total amount of food produced in the world never reaches our plates - that's equivalent to $1 trillion dollars! Meanwhile, just a quarter of this is enough to feed 780 million hungry people.
Worst still, if food waste were a country, it would be the world’s third largest emitter of greenhouse gases, with an economic cost of up to US$680 billion.
This session aims to shed light on the current food waste situation, especially in Asia and throughout the food value chain, to look at innovative business solutions, to both reduce food waste & to ensure that unavoidable food waste goes to something useful - i.e. compost to grow our next harvest of nutritious food.
We look forward to stimulating discussions on how to reduce food waste and to turn it into an opportunity for business!

thGAP - BAbyss in Moderno!! Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives ProjectMarc Dusseiller Dusjagr
thGAP - Transgenic Human Germline Alternatives Project, presents an evening of input lectures, discussions and a performative workshop on artistic interventions for future scenarios of human genetic and inheritable modifications.
To begin our lecturers, Marc Dusseiller aka "dusjagr" and Rodrigo Martin Iglesias, will give an overview of their transdisciplinary practices, including the history of hackteria, a global network for sharing knowledge to involve artists in hands-on and Do-It-With-Others (DIWO) working with the lifesciences, and reflections on future scenarios from the 8-bit computer games of the 80ies to current real-world endeavous of genetically modifiying the human species.
We will then follow up with discussions and hands-on experiments on working with embryos, ovums, gametes, genetic materials from code to slime, in a creative and playful workshop setup, where all paticipant can collaborate on artistic interventions into the germline of a post-human future.

3. “Use” and “Waste” are the antithesis of one another.
This campaign seeks to bring these two actions together to establish balance.
Polar opposites forced to work together in perfect harmony.
Clean India, Use Waste.
4. FROM JAGGED FORM TO PERFECT CIRCLE
• Swachh Bharat has laid an impressive foundation, but its imperfections have ultimately led to
public shaming. We believe that shame is no incentive.
• “Use Waste” will fill the existing holes of Swachh Bharat, and a perfect circle of reusable waste
will come to life.
• Personal incentive will finally be provided to the people, and open-defecation will be no more.
5. BIODIGESTION
PLASTIC BIO-DIGESTER
• Bio-Digesters produce clean, odorless
biogas and biosolids, through the
anaerobic digestion of organic materials.
Bacteria is killed during this process.
• Bio-Digesters can be built in various
sizes to accommodate different levels of
need, ranging from single family units
to community units.
• Biosolids and biogas can be used to
drastically improve the quality of life of
those in the lower castes of India.
7. BIO SOLIDS
• Biosolids can be used as an excellent
fertilizer for crops.
• Fertilizer is a resource that many farmers
practicing subsistence farming in India,
cannot afford.
• Poor farmers practicing subsistence family
might see excess crops that could be sold for
profit.
8. BIOGAS
• Biogas can be used to offer light to a dark
home, heat to a cold family, or hot food to
hungry mouths.
• Biogas can even be used to run gas powered,
electric generators.
9. ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
• 80% of waste in India ends up in rivers,
lakes, and ponds. Waste redirection would
mean cleaner waters in India.
• Cleaner water would lead to a major
decrease in number of deaths caused by
waterborne disease.
10. COMMUNITY
OUTREACH
• The existing “Good-Morning Squads” will be
repurposed for the implementation of Bio-Digestion
kits.
• The newly dubbed “Pristine Teams” will educate
their peers on how to use Bio-Digesters, as well as
their benefits.
• Shaming will no longer be an acceptable means of
education.
11. PUBLIC AWARENESS
• Planters that have been cultivated with
biosolids will be placed in village centers.
• Pristine Teams will lead open discussions,
demonstrating the value of biosolids as
fertilizer. Public awareness will improve as
planted vegetables flourish.
12. CELEBRATING
CHANGE
• Village festivals will be held to celebrate
their progress, and further display the
possibilities of Bio-Digesters.
• Food served at the festival will have been
grown with biosolids. Lighting fixtures will
be powered by biogas.
• Pristine Team members will circulate
throughout the festival, ensuring that the
people know where the food and light came
from.
13. POSTERS
• There is a 73% literacy rate in rural
India.
• Our posters have been designed with
that in mind, and rely heavily upon
graphics based instruction.
