Uplifting Research Paper
The ability to positively change someone's mood with words is a powerful tool. This natural skill of uplifting is possessed by few, and only some of
which seldom use it. However, there are alternatives to inspiring joy and happiness in others. While not always meaningful, gifts have the ability of
uplifting also. These gifts can range from meager food rations to cheap toys to stupendous vehicles. Despite the extravagance, all gifts must contain
one core value, a devotion to the recipient, or an attitude of fondness or love. People love attention, therefore it is not the gifts that uplift that person,
but it is the person and thought behind the gift that creates joy. It is not hard to help people; all it takes is to follow a few easy steps to... Show more

These skills are vital to that position, so that objectives get accomplished. I personally would choose to be in a position of management, because of
my managerial skills. An administrative support or logistics would suit me; however, all positions are open regardless of status or education.
Considering my love of numbers, logistics would be a more logical fit for me. The logistics is vital to the charity, "This position utilizes the gifts of
organization, planning, and hospitality to welcome and host shoebox contributors at local collection sites. This opportunity allows you to mobilize
short–term volunteers and coordinate the shoebox collection at your church as a Collection or Relay Center. Collection and Relay Center volunteers
serve as the face of OCC as shoebox donations come through the doors on their way to the waiting arms of children around the world" (Samaritan's
Purse "Year–Round Volunteer OCC"). There are many positions concerning many aspects of life, and anyone can volunteer. The simplest of the
volunteers is just packing the shoeboxes. By choosing a position where you are more effective, it benefits everyone as a whole. Each position comes
with responsibility to help impoverished children, regardless of the status of that position. Volunteering to manage comes with a lot of responsibility,
responsibility that I would gladly

Off Grid Analysis
I'm sitting on the couch, with the computer in my lap, surfing and daydreaming. My honey walks past me and says "what are you looking at? Tiny
houses?" I got caught red–handed when I was supposed to be working. He sat down next to me and I showed him a very ingenious table designed for
tiny living. It's a table for four that stacks against the wall, in no more space than a sofa table would take up. How ingenious is that?
With my honey sitting next to me, I continue to click through an array of tiny living articles, with pictures of tiny homes and tips and tricks for living
tiny. He's looking at some of the pictures with me and I'm telling him what I like and don't like about each home we look at. For example, I mention

I see our community sharing more burdens and hoarding more resources. Our consumerist society doesn't give people the chance to not spend money
on things. Living off grid doesn't mean living outside a community, like a hermit. There's an idea of a social contract that states members of the
community have consented, by the active living in the community, to surrender some of their freedoms and submit to the authority of the rule of the
community. Our society's rules about required amounts of electricity provided to a home or required building standards or required trash collection
begins to cost more than what a person has, the submittal to the rule of the community has become more powerful than individual's freedoms and too

Personal Statement: Motivating Students In The Classroom
Motivating students is a crucial element in teacher. Depending on the grade and students different strategies will be used. Having motivated
learners is essential. If the learners are engaged in the material and eager to learn, educators will be greatly successful. Children love learning.
They want to learn. I teach the 3rd grade; therefore my learners get bored very easily. I work in an inclusion classroom, so I have learners who are
on different levels. Typically, I use a reward system for both regular ed. and ASD students. For my ASD students, they each have a sticker board.
These 6 students earn a sticker by either volunteering, helping a classmate, making eye contact, and if they are able to make a choice when asked.

The Urban Bestiary Analysis
A.
Haupt's book, The Urban Bestiary, is a collection of creatures' habits, tracks, identifying characteristics, and their histories. Overlaying each creature,
whether treasured or considered a pest, is the reminder that we have to share our world with these animals. If we can live in harmony with them and
learn to appreciate the value they bring to the earth, then we are better for it. Haupt says, "a new bestiary...helps us locate ourselves in nature, and
suggests a response to this knowledge that will benefit both ourselves and the more–than–human world" (8). She does exactly what she set out to do,
reminding us, "we can seek (sparrows' and starlings') eradication or reduction and still, on a daily basis appreciate their birdness, their feathers, ... Show

Konrad Lorenz. I love this guy after reading his statement, "I never kill birds...To a certain extent am a friend of successful species. This goes so far
that I even like weeds" (186). I also like weeds, and have been known to get really upset when my kids yank the native wildflowers out of the ground
when weeding. I pull the thorny weeds, but the pretty "weeds" get to stay.
D.
I love that Haupt includes historical information about the species she is referring to. While she could simply talk about their impact and presence
today, she often talks about where they come from, their past. It's very engaging and it made the book fascinating. Some examples: "The persistent
belief that there is one rat per person in urban places is based on a dubious study from...1907" (119); "Schieffelin was an eccentric...who raised a king's
ransom to purchase eighty starlings from England in 1890...modern DNA testing confirms that they (starlings in the US) are all related to those snowy
Central Park birds" (177).
I hope to remember this and include not just present information, but a solid history where appropriate as well. This is something I don't include in my
writing now, but it works really

Life On Purpose Essay
From a personal perspective, the "Life on Purpose" article exposes several steps that will allow myself to move closer toward becoming a "world
Christian." The initial understanding that must be recognized is that the believer's walk is a journey that means it is an intentional and deliberate trek.
It is purposeful and decisive (CITE MY page 15). Claude Hickman, Steven C. Hawthorne and Todd Ahrend identify four steps that allow the believer
to become more of a world Christian (My 17–19 Ibid). They state that there is a practice of going, welcoming, sending, and mobilizing (ibid). These
practices are to help individuals engage with others, supporting missions and ultimately being able to "live holistically toward the evangelization of
all peoples."(Ibid 16). Of the four practices, I personally will continue to work on each one because even if I "major in one," the authors of "Life on
Purpose" encourage to "minor in the others."(ibid) However, the primary practice I will focus on is empowering others in His purpose by mobilizing
others (Ibid ). As part of delivering and teaching the world of God, the encouragement of those that have found saving grace is essential to continue the
distribution of the word. The Apostle Paul asked how can others hear about Christ unless someone goes to tell them (CITE ) ... Show more content on

The Power Of Writing: Mr. Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
If there's one thing I believe to be true, it's that books have the power to change the world. Like King, "I don't read in order to study the craft; I
read because I like to read" (221). Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. Because of my love for books, I've acquired an impressive literary collection
that spans a vast amount of authors and genres. I have confidence in the fact that "every book you pick up has its own lesson or lessons", and every
book I have read has proven this statement to be accurate (221). One author that I have to thank for a majority of the lessons that I've learned is Mr.
Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Here are some things this lovely man has taught me:

The Pain Of First Love Essay
The Pain of First Love First love is something amazing, but it can be a source of unbearable misery. Love was this amazing new experience that
was brought into my life. I knew it would be hard, but I was not prepared for how hard it actually would be. The tears shed, the anger that filled my
entire body with hate, the depression, the anxiety of not hearing from him, the panic attacks that would build from these events almost caused me to
give up. I did not know what I got myself into until it was too late. We met in the middle of December, 2015, at the happiest place on earth "Disney
World". I thought he was a nice guy, but I was also in the state of mind of just wanting someone to love. His name was Stefan. He was tall at 6'1'' with
a beard that put five years upon his actual age of twenty–two. He wore khaki pants with a white collared shirt. He came across as a rich boy who was
privileged. His major of information technology intrigued me. He talked about how he is good at manipulating people to make deals happen. This
should have been the first red flag. I was caught up in the swiftness of our relationship that happened in the next month. We became official in the
middle of January and would not look back for a second. This was the beginning of the second red flag. Although we became official, I was not
allowed to post anything on his social media. No pictures, no relationship status, I could not even tag him in a simple funny post. He claimed that

We 're Flying By Peter Stamm
In the fall semester, I started reading short stories again. I had not done so in a while, and it started when my friend lent me his copy of Nine Stories
by J.D Salinger. I had read some of them in high school, but after reading them again with addition of the others, I was inspired to write short stories.
Writing a book seemed too daunting, especially when I did not know how to write one or how to start. I figured writing short stories was the best
way to start. While volunteering at the library, when shelf reading and organizing the books, I would pick out collections of short stories and read
them. Recently, I read We're Flying by Peter Stamm and Shadow Show by an assortment of writers.
I took this class in order to learn how to write creatively. I have always been writing, because I enjoyed it, but I did not know if I was doing it
'correctly.' I did not know how to shape my ideas and thoughts into the form of a story. Also, I thought what I wrote had to be perfect on the first
attempt, but I have learned from this class otherwise. Never having the opportunity to take writing classes or art classes in my youth, I thought that if
what I created was not perfect, I just did not have the talent for it. My ideas entirely contrast with those of the younger version of me. I took this class
because I could learn and work at it. I enjoyed the short story collection Shadow Show written by numerous writers in honor and in celebration of Ray
Bradbury. In one of the writer's

Stephen King's Why We Crave Horror Films
Stephen King wrote the short story "Why We Crave Horror Films" explaining why our mind gets so excited during horror movies. He continues to
make the statement "the horror film has become the modern public lynching" (paragraph 6) showing that no matter what generation a person is in the
excitement of gore will always exist. King proves this statement discussing emotions and psychiatric points in his work. King first shows how his
comparison of public lynching and horror films is true by discussing "anticivilization emotions" (paragraph 11). Anticivilization emotions are emotions
felt by humans but are often ignored because they are inappropriate, for example, horror and gore. Public lynching was the most popular activity
during medieval times. In modern times people do not have to watch public executions to feel these feelings. A person is able to watch a horror or gore
film to get these emotions out for a while until they need to be felt again. Society's attempt to make everything about love and friendship is ever failing
due to the fact that a person simply cannot turn off ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"When we pay our four or five bucks and seat ourselves at the tenth–row center in a theater showing a horror movie, we are daring the nightmare".
When King says this he uses your imagination to put you in a practical situation at the movie theater that many people have experienced. The
preparation for jump scares and nerves rushing through a person's body creates an entirely new experience of excitement than being at a normal movie.
A personal horror film experience that I have experienced was watching my very first horror film. The horror film was the worst scary movie I had

Denver Art Museum Essay
In preparation for my first visit to the Denver Art Museum I browsed their numerous extravagant collections online. I was taken back by the wide

questioned whether or not I should even still visit the actual museum. I felt that I had just had the same experience only free and from the comfort of
my couch. Fortunately, my sister convinced me into going with her and I have not regretted it since! Viewing artwork in person is far more beneficial

Nearly every one of my classmates (myself included) discussed their being a sort of get together surrounding their visit to view art or architecture. For
instance, classmate Aaron Paulson had a "day date to the Art Museum" with his wife. Much like Aaron, Jessica Chow stated that one of her "favorite
date days is to go to the Denver Art Museum with [her] fiance". She also discussed her love for grabbing coffee with her dad while simultaneously
viewing the art for sale and for show. When I visited the Denver Art Museum I went with my mom and sister. I loved hearing their thoughts on the
same piece I was viewing. I also liked seeing what stangers were drawn to and overhearing, perhaps rudely, their thoughts. My point, is that
participating in art is an essential human experience and can only truly be appreciated if done so in person.
While viewing artwork in person is preferable there are many pieces that are too far to be viewed in person. In these unfortunate cases virtual
galleries and photographs are a prized technology. I am especially thankful for them as they allow me to view my favorite work, The Scream, located

Pablo Neruda And Cummings's Love Sonnet 17 By E. E. Cummings
Introduction
Pablo Neruda and Edward Estlin (E.E) Cummings are poets from the 20th century who have been praised by many literary critics because of their
prestigious works in poetry. For this extended essay, I have decided to compare and contrast the poems, which have interested me, due to their differing
perspectives and ideas on the subject on love and also the uniqueness in their respective poems.
I have chosen 'If You Forget Me' and 'LoveSonnet 17' by Pablo Neruda and [I carry your heart with me(I carry it in] and [love is more thicker than
forget] by E.E Cummings. These poems have drawn my attention in particular because of the different poetic devices Neruda and Cummings have
carefully utilized to present the theme of love in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also about the strong bond of unity between him and his lover. Everything he seems to do and feel is connected to her which is suggested by
the title and opening lines of the poems as he carries his lover's heart along with him wherever he may go and that no distance could separate or
alter their love. This is seen by the quote, '(anywhere / I go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)' In addition,
it seems to be that he does not believe in 'fate' because his love for her is so profound that he does not require anything else from the world (i.e – 'the
moon and the sun') which proves this strong feeling he has for his lover. Lastly, the 'tree called life' which contains the roots and the buds are essential
because these are vital for the relationship to remain strong which is compared to a strong tree that would grow beyond all hopes and aspirations and
reach the sky. This shows us the depth of their love and how their foundation has been formed. (Ghosh,

The Legacy Of The Lauren Rogers Museum
The Lauren Rogers Museum is located in Laurel, Mississippi and was built in 1923. One unique characteristic about this museum is that has the
Georgian Revival Style, which means if you were to cut the museum down the middle in equal halves each side would be identical. While touring the
Lauren Rodgers Museum there were two separate collections that caught my eye. These collections consisted of the American and European collection.
The American collection focuses primarily on portraiture. In the American Collection I chose apainting by Jean MacLane called The Chintz Chair.
MacLane was born on September 14, 1878 and died on January 23, 1964 in New Canaan, Connecticut. One of MacLane's first studies was at an Art
Institute in Chicago with John Vanderpoel. " MacLane and her husband, artist John C. Johansen (1876–1964) help found the National Foundation of
Portrait Painters in 1912" (Jean 2015). The year of 1912 was considered to be MacLane's biggest year because she was recognized for many different
awards. MacLane depicted the Allied Leaders from W.W.I., provided the only female subject, Queen Elisabeth of Belgian, and also became an
associate member of the National Academy of Design. The main items that MacLane incorporates into her portraits are women and their children. "In
1931, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letter" (Jean 2015). The picture that I chose from the American Collection by Jean
McLane demonstrates a mother sitting in a chair

Influences Of Disney Princesses
Girls of all ages find an exceptional amount of inspiration from the "happily ever after" stories their parents read to them before bed. Disney
princesses are respected by girls and often boys of all ages. The influence a Disney princess imposes on a child is based on how princesses are
presented. The interest in a character, such as Cinderella, has mesmerized children as well as parents, but the perception of what is real and fantasy,
creates a barrier for parents. The opportunities for children are endless and with exceptional role models, essentially, Disney princesses are a
representation of how a child should develop ambition for themselves. Absorption of the characteristics of Disney princesses, however, advocates a

Finucane explains the experiences she faced as her daughter refused to consume her time with anything that did not relate to a princess (Bartyzel 468).
As a mother, a child's happiness is the most exhilarating experience, but for Finucane however, the princess culture had become a structure for
feminism (Bartyzel 468). Although the structure of feminism was becoming a narrow construction of the princess aspect, another plague brought
attention to parents. The structure of a princess exhibits design for children to admire. The creation of a Disney princess has brought attention over
time. Essentially, all princesses have acquired similar characteristics (Bartyzel 489). The structure of a princess sculpts little imagination to a child
seeking change. The drastic structures of a princess are all too common, "narrower jaws, larger eyes, smaller noses, and waists" (Bartyzel 469)
depicting the variation of feminism. The dynamic visual change of a princess has caused controversy in the films (Bartyzel 469). Without much
interruption, Disney has reversed some of the features that were originally depicted for a Disney princess (Bartyzel 469). Throughout the production of
Disney films, princesses have shown affection to the naturality of themselves (Bartyzel 469). When given the opportunity, a child admires the features
of a Disney princess, bearing the alteration of fantasy. The ideals of creating a Disney princess who displays feminism seems to

Breaking The Cycle Of My Life Essay
Breaking the Cycle Growing up, I had a very poor example of a mother. She was abusive and always in and out of my life for one reason or another.
Growing up like that left me feeling like I would never amount to a mother of any worth and, in turn, I never wanted to have children. My essay is
about unexpectedly finding out I was having a baby, and how that baby turned my whole world around. I walked into my doctor's office on December
13, 2007 terrified. I had been having some health issues and that day I was getting the results back. Little did I know, I was about to have two of
the biggest shocks of my life. The first one left me numb and grasping at the edges of my chair as my doctor told me they had found cancer on my
cervix. The second had my doctor reaching out to steady me and hold me in place after she told me I was five weeks pregnant. I remember feeling
very cold as she told me, "Congratulations, Mommy!" Mommy? Me? No, this isn't part of my plan. I can't be a mother. I don't know how to be a
mother. I remember very little after that. My friend and I left. She took me to a local restaurant in town to have lunch. I picked at my food while
she asked me my thoughts. My mind was on a loop: baby, cancer, baby, cancer, baby... To me, it felt like a nightmare. I text my fiancГ©e, who was

The Plays of Tennessee Williams
Tennessee Williams was known as one of the greatest and most controversial playwrights in American history. He once said "I believe that writing
or any form of creative work was never meant by nature to be a man's way of making a living, that when it becomes one it almost certainly loses a
measure of purity" (Lewis 54). This statement shows that Williams was a genuine writer who used his plays and poems to express his own thoughts.
Williams was known for his Southern Gothic writing style. This is "a style of writing practiced by many writers of the American South whose stories
set in that region are characterized by grotesque, macabre, or fantastic incidents" ("Southern gothic"). Some critics believe that Williams had sacrificed

It is shown throughout the play that lying is something people do daily in order to conform to society's wants. Big Daddy has made his life, rose
up from beneath and became a rich and social man. His son, Brick, knows what his family expects of him and refuses to let them down by even
contemplating the fact that he may be homosexual. He has not been true to himself or the world in the aspect of love. He knows that neither the
world nor his family would accept him if it turned out that he was homosexual, so he buries that thought deep inside him. The denial of his friend
Skippers' love for him tore Brick down little by little on the inside until he began to hate the world, and felt disgusted for being a part of it. This
play is just one more reason that Williams was known as a controversial playwright. At this point in time, in 1955, homosexuality was not discussed
publicly. When Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was being made into a movie all hints of homosexuality were taken out of the script because it was
considered to be a form of perversion. Williams himself had a long term partner in Frank Merlo, meaning that he himself was homosexual during the
time when it was not fully accepted. Merlo acted as Williams' manager, which in a way shows how Skipper was Bricks best friend but was actually in
love with him. Some critics say that because Williams used a lot of the same themes in his works that he became predictable. Even Williams would
admit to writing about the same themes,

Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock
J. Alfred Prufrock is not your standard heroic "alpha–male. He is a representation of the typical modern man. Prufrock is overeducated, fearful, timid,
overly sensitive, and graceful. Throughout the poems, he continuously ponders lost opportunities and unanswered questions. This is the modern man,
not strong and silent but weak and accessible. He represents the modern man by openly displaying disappointment and vulnerability. The modern man
has lost sight of the quality of life and the truly important things in life. The character, J. Alfred Prufrock, represents all characteristics of a modern
man; He is obsessed with his appearance and how much and how fast he is aging.
The poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot centers on an aging, insecure middle–aged man. The action described in the poem takes
place in the evening in a dreary part of a foggy city. The exact location remains unknown, but it is believed to be the City of London, or St. Luis.
However, Eliot most likely intended the setting to be any city, anywhere. The speaker of this ironic monologue is a modern, urban man who, like
many of his kind, feels lonely and incapable of making a decision and acting upon it. Irony is apparent in the title since this is not a predictable love
song. Prufrock would like to speak and love a woman, but he does not because of his insecurities and fear of rejection. Since the reader is overhearing
his thoughts, the poem seems rather confusing at first. But Prufrock

History And Traditions Of Ancient Egypt
The history and traditions of a people can be reflected in its compositions because the writing often preserves the values, concerns, and characteristics
of the era. While the canonical literature of a civilization often reflects the most highly prized attributes of the society, more typical pieces of writing
tend to offer a unique and realistic perspective on the civilization's lifestyle. A collection of ancient Egyptian love poems written by average citizens
was uncovered in Deir el–Medina and, like all other works of literature, within the writing, there are details indicative of their values. Because of their
special nature, the poems offer an alternative viewpoint to the experiences of commoners. The love reflected in the poetry of ordinary ancient
Egyptians was affected by their society's customs, family, and religion.
The social mores of ancient Egypt influenced love as indicated in the poetry. In I Devised to Drink in Her Beauty, a common–man is travelling to his
lover but encounters Mehy, a well–known and fearsome warrior. Mehy is representative of ancient Egyptian traditions and obligations and so, upon his
encounter, the lover attempts to avoid the warrior. The power and influence that Mehy retains, as illustrated by him being "in his chariot," causes the
boy to want to hide his wanton desires. This reflects the social stigma attached to being in love in ancient Egyptian society. While in self–conflict, he
considers crossing the Nile river. In ancient Egypt, the

Ethical Decalogue In Exodus 20: 1-17
The Decalogue
The Ethical Decalogue, better known as the Ten Commandments, were the ten religious and moral laws given to the Israelites. It was, and still is, an
important role in the solidification for the people of Israel to be in right relationships with both Yahweh and all other peoples. The Decalogue
demonstrates the most important core principles of having a right relationship with God and others. In the first version of the Decalogue in Exodus 20:
1–17, Yahweh directly presented the Israelites with theTen Commandments at Mount Sinai. The tone of Yahweh is one of obedience; He asks that the
Israelites be appreciative of His rescue from Egypt and in return they be obedient to His commandments. In Deuteronomy 5, the Ten Commandments
are given to Moses by Yahweh at Mount Herob, followed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Exodus generation of Israelites had disobeyed Yahweh by not entering the Promised Land, and the new generation's relationship with Yahweh
was compromised. Moses stressed how important the covenant is to every generation and not just the original generation after the Exodus
(Deuteronomy 5:8). The motivation for this relationship changes in Deuteronomy with a much stronger, firmer tone to renew the declaration of the
Decalogue because of the Israelites' failure to adhere. Exploring the differences between the two versions of the Decalogue show small but important
details. The first noticeable difference is in Exodus, where we read "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Ex 20:8) as opposed to
Deuteronomy: "Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as the Lord your God Commanded you"

fundamental crisis concerning self and its attendant claims to agency without which this impulse would wither: "my first person is hidden," Graham
tells us in Swarm (2000), "[s]o that I'm writing this in the cold / keeping the parts from finding the whole again" (88–89). At once achingly "naked"
and aggressively "hidden," the lyric presence in Graham's poems brings to mind an excellent mid–career interview in which she articulates, with
trademark acuity, "the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Harpham goes on to explain, the ethical imperative is catalyzed by the "coimplication of freedom and the law, free agency and obligation," so that
the "very idea of an 'ethical' law" is, in fact, "strictly inconsistent with the integrated, self–consistent agent"–that "luminous figure"–"who alone,
supposedly, can follow it" (27, 26; emphasis added). Of concern here is the catch–22 of the postmodern subject, Graham's guide to "more moral
terrain": on the one hand, "seeing through one's own socially constructed nature" affirms an ultimate surrender of self as it locates identity at the nexus
of "external" influences; as such, individuality–that sense of oneself as distinct, essential, and wholly conscious–is the product of, not precedent to,
desire, locus of will. In this vein, claiming responsibility for the making of reality is, paradoxically, to subject one's self to the larger network of
forces–cultural, familial, sensory–from which it arises. Hence, in her debut collection Graham writes that "the way things work" is first "by admitting
/ or opening away" (Hybrids [1980] 3). On the other hand, such agency inflates the "luminous" self that it attempts to subvert. Though "seeing through
one's own socially constructed nature" eviscerates one's sense of autonomy, it empowers one as both analyst and architect of one's experience of being;
to understand that we are hostage to our own ways of seeing is to turn the limited condition of subjectivity into a conduit to truth. Thus while Graham
insists throughout Swarm that her "first person is hidden" (88), the urgency of her claim consecrates a presence that is anything but hard to

Healthcare Trends Paper
The healthcare industry is one of the fastest growing industries. Changes are always happening in the healthcare field and new trends are created. As a
worker in the healthcare industry, there are many changing aspects of the industry. At my company, I've noticed some of the trends that are shaping the
direction of the company in a very dynamic and valuable way. Working remotely, the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and Big Data and Cloud Computing
are some of the trends that my company is moving towards. While these trends are making an impact on the company, there are still challenges with the
Affordable Care Act. It has been reshaping the healthcare system both positively and negatively since it was introduce.

The company is a medical reimbursement company that deals with patients' personal information from social security, to medical history and banking
information. As technology in the healthcare field continues to expand, we have begun to use more big data to store all our patient personal health
records and our employees' personal records. Maintenance and processing of various and high volume data have created the "Big Data" challenge. As
Gartner (2015) said: "Big Data is high–volume, –velocity and –variety information assets that demand cost–effective, innovative forms of information
processing for enhanced insight and decision making" [6]. Under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountable Act (HIPAA) laws, the healthcare
industry is privy and held to a very high standard to protect and keep all patients' personal information private, safe and secured; Digitalization and
accumulation large healthcare data provides great potential for healthcare data. The key to the best patient–centric, evidence–base and accountability
care is delivered through big data in healthcare (Yang, Li, Wang, Chen, Wu, Wang, Pan and Mulder 2015). There are still many healthcare challenges
that need to be addressed to help enhance healthcare services. With cloud computing in healthcare, the company is one step closer to lowering their
operational cost and eliminating the use of hardware and software to store data. With all the company's data stored on networks, servers and
applications it makes it easier for the data to be accessible any part of the world. Some of the advantages of cloud computing includes availability,
performance and load balancing (Malekabadi, Javan & Akbari 2015). When all of the company's data is stored on the networks and computed, it is
taken by Iron Mountain and stored in a remote location. With the continued growth of innovative technology cloud computing will continue to

Hinduism Is The Major Religion Of India And Is Monism Essay
Hinduism is the major religion of India and is monism. It is defined as "uniting the worship of many Gods with a belief in a single divine reality."
(Molloy, 2015, p.75). "Hinduism is not a single, undefined religion; it is more like a family or beliefs" (Molloy, 2015, p.75). Hinduism is a

The plot center around Jamie, a 25–year–old, American male who moves to Paris where he meets a girl named Clementine. The musical begins at the

Epidemiologist Personal Statement
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by the mechanism of life. The human body is a remarkable masterpiece of evolutionary development,

Two Juxtapositions In Romantic Music
One of the most characteristic features of Romanticism is the concoction of artistic genres, a fusion that carries the latent desire for the unity of arts
through the prism of music and whose culmination can be found in the works of Richard Wagner. The two juxtapositions in Romantic music, the
grandiose display of sounds while preserving intimacy and sentimental confession, and the image of a man against nature while idealizing it at the same
time, effectuate their conciliation in the Lied. Romanticism seeks sensibility, insight, and transcendence in poems by adding a musical setting to them.
As Susan Youens put it: "Lieder begin with words; they are born when a composer encounters poetry", therefore it is an on–going duet between poetry

Literary Analysis Of Marilyn Dumont's A Really Good Brown...
This essay compares two of Marilyn Dumont's collection of poems, green girl dreams Mountains, particularly the section "City View", and her
earlier work, A Really Good Brown Girl. There are two key focuses in my essay; the first is that of Dumont's representation of the self and identity
within A Really Good Brown Girl and how it becomes transformative in green girl dreams Mountains, as Dumont is less concentrated on the self and
rather on her observations in "City View". I will also be focusing on the idea of shame; A Really Good Brown Girl is clearly representative of
Dumont's own struggles and emphasizes her marginalized status, whereas in green girl dreams Mountains she uses different socio–economic
neighborhoods in order to illustrate the effects and consequences of spatial segregation. There is no lack of effectiveness in regards to the impact on
the reader despite the different focuses of the works, one on self and one on the other. Both collections explore the idea of otherness, whether it is on
a basis of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic standing. A Really Good Brown Girl, published in 1996, is focused on Dumont and her personal
experiences as part of the Métis community (Lopičić), and is a reflection of the impacts of growing up as a minority in a predominantly white
cultural environment. It is divided into four sections with thematic titles, and in most of her poems, she criticizes the fact that "femininity is racialized

Elizabeth Browning Research Paper
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born March 6th, 1806 in Durham, England, and passed June 29th, 1861 in Florence, Italy. Browning's death is likely
caused by an incurable disorder that plagued all three sisters in her family, except only lasted with her. Her everlasting suffrage since the age of
thirteen when the symptoms first developed explains why she asked her husband, Robert Browning, whom she dedicated her poetry, to "neither love
me for thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry". To continue, Elizabeth's father did not wish for any of his children to marry, which Elizabeth was
seemingly compliant with, being an invalid thirty–nine–year–old. Therefore, Elizabeth's father and brothers were quick to disapprove when Robert
arrived, deeming him an unreliable fortune hunter.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They stood by each other's side with "a sense of pleasant ease" until Elizabeth's death. In fact, even after Elizabeth's death, Robert Browning remained
a widower, instead of remarrying, and even kept Elizabeth's ring on his watch chain, proving their love would go "on, through love's eternity". During
their time together, the couple had a son in 1849 when Elizabeth was already forty–three–years–old; this was particularly unusual since the average
woman during the Victorian Era had five children, plus the life expectancy was 40! With Robert's avid support and encouragement, Browning published
her most renowned work in 1850, Sonnets from the Portuguese, chronicling their love with poems such as Sonnet

I Believe in Sneakers
I Believe in Sneakers
It all started with a Jumpman and a swoosh, it was more than just a shoe it was the start of a culture. What most people look at as just a shoe to
protect their feet has a story behind it and a deeper meaning to me and many others than "just a pair of shoes". Don't put on a pair of shoes unless you
know how to wear them right. For every pair I own I could explain the troubles I went through and the people I met to get each sneaker. The best
feeling was opening that fresh shoe box and taking out that paper wrapping. Putting on each new pair of sneakers is like taking a breath of fresh air
each pair crisp as bacon. I am one among many sneakerheads, people who love to buy, sell, trade, and collect rare shoes. There is a culture, lifestyle, and
history behind sneaker collecting. Most people would think dropping hundreds if not thousands on a pair of shoes is crazy but I believe sneakers are
essential.
It all started my freshman year in high school when I noticed my friends Jordan's that he had waited hours outside of a shoe store for. At the time
they were some of the coolest shoes I had ever seen, I wanted a pair like that. I took a deeper look into retro Jordan's and found out that most were
really hard to get. You couldn't just go to your nearest shoe store and just pick up the pair you wanted. You would have to drops hundreds of dollars
on a pair that others camped out for or woke up hours early to get on the nike.com release of the shoe.

Working With Children Essay
Building a strong, caring, and positive relationship with children is extremely important. This is when a child first learns how to form a trusting bond
with an adult. The adult is usually a parent, grandparent, a care provider, or another key adult in a child's life. A caring relationship with an adult is
essential to a child's social and emotional growth. Through a strong, trusting relationship with an adult, a child learns that the adult will protect them,
nurture them, and respond to their needs. This also helps the child learn how to form healthy relationships with others. "How you approach children,
what you notice about them, and how you respond to them will either boost or detract from their confidence and social competence" ... Show more

Every child needs to feel loved. I said in an earlier post that I love every child as my own. Babies do not ask to be born. I've seen many abandoned
babies and all they want is to be loved and accepted. They want to know they matter.
Of all the key elements, in my opinion, genuineness is number one. Being honest with children is very important. I love working with children because
they are innocent and honest. Children will always tell you what they are thinking, how they are feeling, and they will tell you the truth. I remember
watching the 5–year old granddaughter of a friend of mine. On weekends I love to wear old jeans and t–shirts. She was looking through my collection
of faded jeans and worn out t–shirts and she looked up at me and said, "How come you only have boy clothes?" Adults need to be honest with children
as well.
Empathy, putting yourself in someone else's shoes, or as the book states, "walking in someone else's shoes" (page 29) is a perfect way to show
someone you care about them. Sharing and understanding someone's feelings is a great characteristic of someone who cares deeply about others.
Children need a lot of empathy, especially when they fall down and hurt themselves. A tiny scrape on the knee to an adult might seem like the end of

This semester my art practice has primarily focused on utilising carefully constructed language as opposed to previous stream–of–consciousness
techniques, while further investigating participatory projects, and assemblage as a new form of installation. The importance of memory and the
handwritten repeatedly warranted further consideration during the course of the semester and became a fundamental element in each work.
Conceptually, my practice has evolved into a critique of diaristic language by exhibiting private confessions in public spaces and inviting strangers to
participate in the perverse act of reading my most personal thoughts. This notion is challenged by the introduction of secondary texts and blurs the line
between what is real and what is fiction within the work. These evolving elements within my practice are best observed through works warm under

Literary Romanticism In Wordsworth's Lyrical Ballads
Literary ballads is considered the seminal inspirational work of literary romanticism in Britain. The publication of Lyrical Ballads represented a
turning point for English poetry. Though the book was not originally received as a radical experiment, it was rather controversial for its time. Being
released straight during the French revolution which was seen as a social experiment in itself. Coleridge encouraged Wordsworth to write a preface to
Lyrical Ballads which would explain the work contained within the collection.
The phrase experimental originated from Wordsworth himself and the preface gave him the opportunity to explain and defend the rather radical work
to the readers. Wordsworth expressed concern on how lyrical ballads would be received by his readership. That it would not only not meet their
expectations but would make them question his ability as a poet also. He knew that the poems he was writing were so intentionally experimental that his
reader's reactions would be mixed ''I flattered myself that they who should be pleased with them would read them with more than common pleasure:
and on the other hand, I was well aware that by those who should dislike them they would be read with more than common dislike.''

Examples Of Zoomorbalism In Life Of Pi
The novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel is an immensely intriguing and fascinating story of a teenage boy, a tiger, and the perils they face while stranded
on the Pacific Ocean for 227 days. In the novel, there is a collection of literary elements that help blur the line between fantasy and reality. Martel uses
zoomorphism, allegory, and divergent thinking to convey the novel's fantastic world, its gruesome nature, and the essential truth it represents. Martel
uses the psychological concept of zoomorphism to create ambiguity. In the second story where Pi is stuck on the lifeboat with the French cook, his
mother, and the Japanese sailor, vicious acts of zoomorphism are present. The French cook, specifically, portrayed numerous animal–like actions in his
posture, appearance, and even his dialect. A profound example of this portrayal was when "the cook threw himself upon the sailor's head" and
deliberately "scalped him and pulled off his face" (Martel 307). This specific barbaric action alone is sufficient in demonstrating the brutal, savage
methods the cook used to inflict more pain on the already suffering, injured sailor. The cook had also resorted to cannibalism, claiming that the flesh
of the sailor "tastes like pork" (Martel 308). It is not common for humanity to perform such ghastly deeds that so closely resemble those of animal
behavior. The numerous acts of zoomorphism reinforce the novel's gruesome nature, giving out the message that man will go above and beyond what is

Uplifting Research Paper

  • 1. Uplifting Research Paper The ability to positively change someone's mood with words is a powerful tool. This natural skill of uplifting is possessed by few, and only some of which seldom use it. However, there are alternatives to inspiring joy and happiness in others. While not always meaningful, gifts have the ability of uplifting also. These gifts can range from meager food rations to cheap toys to stupendous vehicles. Despite the extravagance, all gifts must contain one core value, a devotion to the recipient, or an attitude of fondness or love. People love attention, therefore it is not the gifts that uplift that person, but it is the person and thought behind the gift that creates joy. It is not hard to help people; all it takes is to follow a few easy steps to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These skills are vital to that position, so that objectives get accomplished. I personally would choose to be in a position of management, because of my managerial skills. An administrative support or logistics would suit me; however, all positions are open regardless of status or education. Considering my love of numbers, logistics would be a more logical fit for me. The logistics is vital to the charity, "This position utilizes the gifts of organization, planning, and hospitality to welcome and host shoebox contributors at local collection sites. This opportunity allows you to mobilize short–term volunteers and coordinate the shoebox collection at your church as a Collection or Relay Center. Collection and Relay Center volunteers serve as the face of OCC as shoebox donations come through the doors on their way to the waiting arms of children around the world" (Samaritan's Purse "Year–Round Volunteer OCC"). There are many positions concerning many aspects of life, and anyone can volunteer. The simplest of the volunteers is just packing the shoeboxes. By choosing a position where you are more effective, it benefits everyone as a whole. Each position comes with responsibility to help impoverished children, regardless of the status of that position. Volunteering to manage comes with a lot of responsibility, responsibility that I would gladly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Off Grid Analysis I'm sitting on the couch, with the computer in my lap, surfing and daydreaming. My honey walks past me and says "what are you looking at? Tiny houses?" I got caught red–handed when I was supposed to be working. He sat down next to me and I showed him a very ingenious table designed for tiny living. It's a table for four that stacks against the wall, in no more space than a sofa table would take up. How ingenious is that? With my honey sitting next to me, I continue to click through an array of tiny living articles, with pictures of tiny homes and tips and tricks for living tiny. He's looking at some of the pictures with me and I'm telling him what I like and don't like about each home we look at. For example, I mention how that one is a nice ... Living off grid doesn't mean living outside a community, like a hermit. There's an idea of a social contract that states members of the community have consented, by the active living in the community, to surrender some of their freedoms and submit to the authority of the rule of the community. Our society's rules about required amounts of electricity provided to a home or required building standards or required trash collection begins to cost more than what a person has, the submittal to the rule of the community has become more powerful than individual's freedoms and too many of those individual freedoms are ... • 3. Personal Statement: Motivating Students In The Classroom Motivating students is a crucial element in teacher. Depending on the grade and students different strategies will be used. Having motivated learners is essential. If the learners are engaged in the material and eager to learn, educators will be greatly successful. Children love learning. They want to learn. I teach the 3rd grade; therefore my learners get bored very easily. I work in an inclusion classroom, so I have learners who are on different levels. Typically, I use a reward system for both regular ed. and ASD students. For my ASD students, they each have a sticker board. These 6 students earn a sticker by either volunteering, helping a classmate, making eye contact, and if they are able to make a choice when asked. Once he/she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Urban Bestiary Analysis A. Haupt's book, The Urban Bestiary, is a collection of creatures' habits, tracks, identifying characteristics, and their histories. Overlaying each creature, whether treasured or considered a pest, is the reminder that we have to share our world with these animals. If we can live in harmony with them and learn to appreciate the value they bring to the earth, then we are better for it. Haupt says, "a new bestiary...helps us locate ourselves in nature, and suggests a response to this knowledge that will benefit both ourselves and the more–than–human world" (8). She does exactly what she set out to do, reminding us, "we can seek (sparrows' and starlings') eradication or reduction and still, on a daily basis appreciate their birdness, their feathers, ... This goes so far that I even like weeds" (186). I also like weeds, and have been known to get really upset when my kids yank the native wildflowers out of the ground when weeding. I pull the thorny weeds, but the pretty "weeds" get to stay. D. I love that Haupt includes historical information about the species she is referring to. While she could simply talk about their impact and presence today, she often talks about where they come from, their past. It's very engaging and it made the book fascinating. Some examples: "The persistent belief that there is one rat per person in urban places is based on a dubious study from...1907" (119); "Schieffelin was an eccentric...who raised a king's ransom to purchase eighty starlings from England in 1890...modern DNA testing confirms that they (starlings in the US) are all related to those snowy Central Park birds" (177). I hope to remember this and include not just present information, but a solid history where appropriate as well. This is something I don't include in my writing now, but it works really ... • 5. Life On Purpose Essay From a personal perspective, the "Life on Purpose" article exposes several steps that will allow myself to move closer toward becoming a "world Christian." The initial understanding that must be recognized is that the believer's walk is a journey that means it is an intentional and deliberate trek. It is purposeful and decisive (CITE MY page 15). Claude Hickman, Steven C. Hawthorne and Todd Ahrend identify four steps that allow the believer to become more of a world Christian (My 17–19 Ibid). They state that there is a practice of going, welcoming, sending, and mobilizing (ibid). These practices are to help individuals engage with others, supporting missions and ultimately being able to "live holistically toward the evangelization of all peoples."(Ibid 16). Of the four practices, I personally will continue to work on each one because even if I "major in one," the authors of "Life on Purpose" encourage to "minor in the others."(ibid) However, the primary practice I will focus on is empowering others in His purpose by mobilizing others (Ibid ). As part of delivering and teaching the world of God, the encouragement of those that have found saving grace is essential to continue the distribution of the word. The Apostle Paul asked how can others hear about Christ unless someone goes to tell them (CITE ) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Power Of Writing: Mr. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. If there's one thing I believe to be true, it's that books have the power to change the world. Like King, "I don't read in order to study the craft; I read because I like to read" (221). Reading is one of my favorite pastimes. Because of my love for books, I've acquired an impressive literary collection that spans a vast amount of authors and genres. I have confidence in the fact that "every book you pick up has its own lesson or lessons", and every book I have read has proven this statement to be accurate (221). One author that I have to thank for a majority of the lessons that I've learned is Mr. Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Here are some things this lovely man has taught me: Life experiences, no matter how horrible, make for great stories. • 7. The Pain Of First Love Essay The Pain of First Love First love is something amazing, but it can be a source of unbearable misery. Love was this amazing new experience that was brought into my life. I knew it would be hard, but I was not prepared for how hard it actually would be. The tears shed, the anger that filled my entire body with hate, the depression, the anxiety of not hearing from him, the panic attacks that would build from these events almost caused me to give up. I did not know what I got myself into until it was too late. We met in the middle of December, 2015, at the happiest place on earth "Disney World". I thought he was a nice guy, but I was also in the state of mind of just wanting someone to love. His name was Stefan. He was tall at 6'1'' with a beard that put five years upon his actual age of twenty–two. He wore khaki pants with a white collared shirt. He came across as a rich boy who was privileged. His major of information technology intrigued me. He talked about how he is good at manipulating people to make deals happen. This should have been the first red flag. I was caught up in the swiftness of our relationship that happened in the next month. We became official in the middle of January and would not look back for a second. This was the beginning of the second red flag. Although we became official, I was not allowed to post anything on his social media. • 8. We 're Flying By Peter Stamm In the fall semester, I started reading short stories again. I had not done so in a while, and it started when my friend lent me his copy of Nine Stories by J.D Salinger. I had read some of them in high school, but after reading them again with addition of the others, I was inspired to write short stories. Writing a book seemed too daunting, especially when I did not know how to write one or how to start. I figured writing short stories was the best way to start. While volunteering at the library, when shelf reading and organizing the books, I would pick out collections of short stories and read them. Recently, I read We're Flying by Peter Stamm and Shadow Show by an assortment of writers. I took this class in order to learn how to write creatively. I have always been writing, because I enjoyed it, but I did not know if I was doing it 'correctly.' I did not know how to shape my ideas and thoughts into the form of a story. Also, I thought what I wrote had to be perfect on the first attempt, but I have learned from this class otherwise. Never having the opportunity to take writing classes or art classes in my youth, I thought that if what I created was not perfect, I just did not have the talent for it. My ideas entirely contrast with those of the younger version of me. I took this class because I could learn and work at it. I enjoyed the short story collection Shadow Show written by numerous writers in honor and in celebration of Ray Bradbury. In one of the writer's ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Stephen King's Why We Crave Horror Films Stephen King wrote the short story "Why We Crave Horror Films" explaining why our mind gets so excited during horror movies. He continues to make the statement "the horror film has become the modern public lynching" (paragraph 6) showing that no matter what generation a person is in the excitement of gore will always exist. King proves this statement discussing emotions and psychiatric points in his work. King first shows how his comparison of public lynching and horror films is true by discussing "anticivilization emotions" (paragraph 11). Anticivilization emotions are emotions felt by humans but are often ignored because they are inappropriate, for example, horror and gore. Public lynching was the most popular activity during medieval times. In modern times people do not have to watch public executions to feel these feelings. A person is able to watch a horror or gore film to get these emotions out for a while until they need to be felt again. A personal horror film experience that I have experienced was watching my very first horror film. The horror film was the worst scary movie I had ever seen and that was my first horror movie, but it was still more exciting than watching a normal movie because of the rush. • 10. Denver Art Museum Essay In preparation for my first visit to the Denver Art Museum I browsed their numerous extravagant collections online. I was taken back by the wide range of skilled artwork as well as impressed. I spent hours completely entranced by the artwork. When I was done viewing the gallery virtually I questioned whether or not I should even still visit the actual museum. I felt that I had just had the same experience only free and from the comfort of my couch. Fortunately, my sister convinced me into going with her and I have not regretted it since! Viewing artwork in person is far more beneficial than viewing it from a virtual gallery. If there is one thing I learned from visiting the Denver Art Museum it is that "photographs are not always good substitutes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nearly every one of my classmates (myself included) discussed their being a sort of get together surrounding their visit to view art or architecture. For instance, classmate Aaron Paulson had a "day date to the Art Museum" with his wife. Much like Aaron, Jessica Chow stated that one of her "favorite date days is to go to the Denver Art Museum with [her] fiance". She also discussed her love for grabbing coffee with her dad while simultaneously viewing the art for sale and for show. When I visited the Denver Art Museum I went with my mom and sister. I loved hearing their thoughts on the same piece I was viewing. I also liked seeing what stangers were drawn to and overhearing, perhaps rudely, their thoughts. My point, is that participating in art is an essential human experience and can only truly be appreciated if done so in person. While viewing artwork in person is preferable there are many pieces that are too far to be viewed in person. In these unfortunate cases virtual galleries and photographs are a prized technology. I am especially thankful for them as they allow me to view my favorite work, The Scream, located in Norway. I hope to one day view the original masterpiece in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Pablo Neruda And Cummings's Love Sonnet 17 By E. E. Cummings Introduction Pablo Neruda and Edward Estlin (E.E) Cummings are poets from the 20th century who have been praised by many literary critics because of their prestigious works in poetry. For this extended essay, I have decided to compare and contrast the poems, which have interested me, due to their differing perspectives and ideas on the subject on love and also the uniqueness in their respective poems. I have chosen 'If You Forget Me' and 'LoveSonnet 17' by Pablo Neruda and [I carry your heart with me(I carry it in] and [love is more thicker than forget] by E.E Cummings. These poems have drawn my attention in particular because of the different poetic devices Neruda and Cummings have carefully utilized to present the theme of love in their ... Everything he seems to do and feel is connected to her which is suggested by the title and opening lines of the poems as he carries his lover's heart along with him wherever he may go and that no distance could separate or alter their love. This is seen by the quote, '(anywhere / I go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)' In addition, it seems to be that he does not believe in 'fate' because his love for her is so profound that he does not require anything else from the world (i.e – 'the moon and the sun') which proves this strong feeling he has for his lover. Lastly, the 'tree called life' which contains the roots and the buds are essential because these are vital for the relationship to remain strong which is compared to a strong tree that would grow beyond all hopes and aspirations and reach the sky. This shows us the depth of their love and how their foundation has been formed. (Ghosh, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Legacy Of The Lauren Rogers Museum The Lauren Rogers Museum is located in Laurel, Mississippi and was built in 1923. One unique characteristic about this museum is that has the Georgian Revival Style, which means if you were to cut the museum down the middle in equal halves each side would be identical. While touring the Lauren Rodgers Museum there were two separate collections that caught my eye. One of MacLane's first studies was at an Art Institute in Chicago with John Vanderpoel. " MacLane and her husband, artist John C. Johansen (1876–1964) help found the National Foundation of Portrait Painters in 1912" (Jean 2015). The year of 1912 was considered to be MacLane's biggest year because she was recognized for many different awards. MacLane depicted the Allied Leaders from W.W.I., provided the only female subject, Queen Elisabeth of Belgian, and also became an associate member of the National Academy of Design. The main items that MacLane incorporates into her portraits are women and their children. "In 1931, she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Letter" (Jean 2015). • 13. Influences Of Disney Princesses Girls of all ages find an exceptional amount of inspiration from the "happily ever after" stories their parents read to them before bed. Disney princesses are respected by girls and often boys of all ages. The influence a Disney princess imposes on a child is based on how princesses are presented. The interest in a character, such as Cinderella, has mesmerized children as well as parents, but the perception of what is real and fantasy, creates a barrier for parents. The opportunities for children are endless and with exceptional role models, essentially, Disney princesses are a representation of how a child should develop ambition for themselves. Absorption of the characteristics of Disney princesses, however, advocates a portrait of how a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finucane explains the experiences she faced as her daughter refused to consume her time with anything that did not relate to a princess (Bartyzel 468). As a mother, a child's happiness is the most exhilarating experience, but for Finucane however, the princess culture had become a structure for feminism (Bartyzel 468). Although the structure of feminism was becoming a narrow construction of the princess aspect, another plague brought attention to parents. The structure of a princess exhibits design for children to admire. The creation of a Disney princess has brought attention over time. Essentially, all princesses have acquired similar characteristics (Bartyzel 489). The structure of a princess sculpts little imagination to a child seeking change. The drastic structures of a princess are all too common, "narrower jaws, larger eyes, smaller noses, and waists" (Bartyzel 469) depicting the variation of feminism. The dynamic visual change of a princess has caused controversy in the films (Bartyzel 469). Without much interruption, Disney has reversed some of the features that were originally depicted for a Disney princess (Bartyzel 469). • 14. Breaking The Cycle Of My Life Essay Breaking the Cycle Growing up, I had a very poor example of a mother. She was abusive and always in and out of my life for one reason or another. Growing up like that left me feeling like I would never amount to a mother of any worth and, in turn, I never wanted to have children. My essay is about unexpectedly finding out I was having a baby, and how that baby turned my whole world around. I walked into my doctor's office on December 13, 2007 terrified. I had been having some health issues and that day I was getting the results back. Little did I know, I was about to have two of the biggest shocks of my life. The first one left me numb and grasping at the edges of my chair as my doctor told me they had found cancer on my cervix. The second had my doctor reaching out to steady me and hold me in place after she told me I was five weeks pregnant. I remember feeling very cold as she told me, "Congratulations, Mommy!" Mommy? Me? No, this isn't part of my plan. I can't be a mother. I don't know how to be a mother. I remember very little after that. My friend and I left. She took me to a local restaurant in town to have lunch. I picked at my food while she asked me my thoughts. My mind was on a loop: baby, cancer, baby, cancer, baby... To me, it felt like a nightmare. I text my fiancГ©e, who was out of town with work, and told him we needed to talk and, no, it couldn't wait. • 16. The Plays of Tennessee Williams Tennessee Williams was known as one of the greatest and most controversial playwrights in American history. He once said "I believe that writing or any form of creative work was never meant by nature to be a man's way of making a living, that when it becomes one it almost certainly loses a measure of purity" (Lewis 54). This statement shows that Williams was a genuine writer who used his plays and poems to express his own thoughts. Williams was known for his Southern Gothic writing style. This is "a style of writing practiced by many writers of the American South whose stories set in that region are characterized by grotesque, macabre, or fantastic incidents" ("Southern gothic"). Some critics believe that Williams had sacrificed his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is shown throughout the play that lying is something people do daily in order to conform to society's wants. Big Daddy has made his life, rose up from beneath and became a rich and social man. His son, Brick, knows what his family expects of him and refuses to let them down by even contemplating the fact that he may be homosexual. He has not been true to himself or the world in the aspect of love. He knows that neither the world nor his family would accept him if it turned out that he was homosexual, so he buries that thought deep inside him. The denial of his friend Skippers' love for him tore Brick down little by little on the inside until he began to hate the world, and felt disgusted for being a part of it. This play is just one more reason that Williams was known as a controversial playwright. At this point in time, in 1955, homosexuality was not discussed publicly. When Cat on a Hot Tin Roof was being made into a movie all hints of homosexuality were taken out of the script because it was considered to be a form of perversion. Williams himself had a long term partner in Frank Merlo, meaning that he himself was homosexual during the time when it was not fully accepted. Merlo acted as Williams' manager, which in a way shows how Skipper was Bricks best friend but was actually in love with him. Some critics say that because Williams used a lot of the same themes in his works that he became predictable. Even Williams would admit to writing about the same themes, ... • 18. Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock J. Alfred Prufrock is not your standard heroic "alpha–male. He is a representation of the typical modern man. Prufrock is overeducated, fearful, timid, overly sensitive, and graceful. Throughout the poems, he continuously ponders lost opportunities and unanswered questions. This is the modern man, not strong and silent but weak and accessible. He represents the modern man by openly displaying disappointment and vulnerability. The modern man has lost sight of the quality of life and the truly important things in life. The character, J. Alfred Prufrock, represents all characteristics of a modern man; He is obsessed with his appearance and how much and how fast he is aging. The poem "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot centers on an aging, insecure middle–aged man. The action described in the poem takes place in the evening in a dreary part of a foggy city. The exact location remains unknown, but it is believed to be the City of London, or St. Luis. However, Eliot most likely intended the setting to be any city, anywhere. The speaker of this ironic monologue is a modern, urban man who, like many of his kind, feels lonely and incapable of making a decision and acting upon it. Irony is apparent in the title since this is not a predictable love song. Prufrock would like to speak and love a woman, but he does not because of his insecurities and fear of rejection. Since the reader is overhearing his thoughts, the poem seems rather confusing at first. But Prufrock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. History And Traditions Of Ancient Egypt The history and traditions of a people can be reflected in its compositions because the writing often preserves the values, concerns, and characteristics of the era. While the canonical literature of a civilization often reflects the most highly prized attributes of the society, more typical pieces of writing tend to offer a unique and realistic perspective on the civilization's lifestyle. A collection of ancient Egyptian love poems written by average citizens was uncovered in Deir el–Medina and, like all other works of literature, within the writing, there are details indicative of their values. Because of their special nature, the poems offer an alternative viewpoint to the experiences of commoners. The love reflected in the poetry of ordinary ancient Egyptians was affected by their society's customs, family, and religion. The social mores of ancient Egypt influenced love as indicated in the poetry. In I Devised to Drink in Her Beauty, a common–man is travelling to his lover but encounters Mehy, a well–known and fearsome warrior. Mehy is representative of ancient Egyptian traditions and obligations and so, upon his encounter, the lover attempts to avoid the warrior. The power and influence that Mehy retains, as illustrated by him being "in his chariot," causes the boy to want to hide his wanton desires. This reflects the social stigma attached to being in love in ancient Egyptian society. While in self–conflict, he considers crossing the Nile river. In ancient Egypt, the ... It was, and still is, an important role in the solidification for the people of Israel to be in right relationships with both Yahweh and all other peoples. The Decalogue demonstrates the most important core principles of having a right relationship with God and others. In the first version of the Decalogue in Exodus 20: 1–17, Yahweh directly presented the Israelites with theTen Commandments at Mount Sinai. Moses stressed how important the covenant is to every generation and not just the original generation after the Exodus (Deuteronomy 5:8). The motivation for this relationship changes in Deuteronomy with a much stronger, firmer tone to renew the declaration of the Decalogue because of the Israelites' failure to adhere. Exploring the differences between the two versions of the Decalogue show small but important details. The first noticeable difference is in Exodus, where we read "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Ex 20:8) as opposed to Deuteronomy: "Observe the Sabbath day, to keep it holy as the Lord your God Commanded you" ... • 22. Harpham Vs Graham While Jorie Graham has claimed that the "central impulse of each new book involves . . . wanting to go into a more moral terrain–a terrain in which one is more accountable, and therefore in which one has to become increasingly naked" ("Interview" 82–83), the arc of her poetic reveals a fundamental crisis concerning self and its attendant claims to agency without which this impulse would wither: "my first person is hidden," Graham tells us in Swarm (2000), "[s]o that I'm writing this in the cold / keeping the parts from finding the whole again" (88–89). At once achingly "naked" and aggressively "hidden," the lyric presence in Graham's poems brings to mind an excellent mid–career interview in which she articulates, with trademark acuity, "the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As Harpham goes on to explain, the ethical imperative is catalyzed by the "coimplication of freedom and the law, free agency and obligation," so that the "very idea of an 'ethical' law" is, in fact, "strictly inconsistent with the integrated, self–consistent agent"–that "luminous figure"–"who alone, supposedly, can follow it" (27, 26; emphasis added). Of concern here is the catch–22 of the postmodern subject, Graham's guide to "more moral terrain": on the one hand, "seeing through one's own socially constructed nature" affirms an ultimate surrender of self as it locates identity at the nexus of "external" influences; as such, individuality–that sense of oneself as distinct, essential, and wholly conscious–is the product of, not precedent to, desire, locus of will. In this vein, claiming responsibility for the making of reality is, paradoxically, to subject one's self to the larger network of forces–cultural, familial, sensory–from which it arises. Hence, in her debut collection Graham writes that "the way things work" is first "by admitting / or opening away" (Hybrids [1980] 3). On the other hand, such agency inflates the "luminous" self that it attempts to subvert. Though "seeing through one's own socially constructed nature" eviscerates one's sense of autonomy, it empowers one as both analyst and architect of one's experience of being; to understand that we are hostage to our own ways of seeing is to turn the limited condition of subjectivity into a conduit to truth. Thus while Graham insists throughout Swarm that her "first person is hidden" (88), the urgency of her claim consecrates a presence that is anything but hard to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Literary Analysis Of Marilyn Dumont's A Really Good Brown... This essay compares two of Marilyn Dumont's collection of poems, green girl dreams Mountains, particularly the section "City View", and her earlier work, A Really Good Brown Girl. There are two key focuses in my essay; the first is that of Dumont's representation of the self and identity within A Really Good Brown Girl and how it becomes transformative in green girl dreams Mountains, as Dumont is less concentrated on the self and rather on her observations in "City View". I will also be focusing on the idea of shame; A Really Good Brown Girl is clearly representative of Dumont's own struggles and emphasizes her marginalized status, whereas in green girl dreams Mountains she uses different socio–economic neighborhoods in order to illustrate the effects and consequences of spatial segregation. There is no lack of effectiveness in regards to the impact on the reader despite the different focuses of the works, one on self and one on the other. Both collections explore the idea of otherness, whether it is on a basis of race, ethnicity or socioeconomic standing. A Really Good Brown Girl, published in 1996, is focused on Dumont and her personal experiences as part of the MГ©tis community (LopiДЌiД‡), and is a reflection of the impacts of growing up as a minority in a predominantly white cultural environment. Browning's death is likely caused by an incurable disorder that plagued all three sisters in her family, except only lasted with her. Her everlasting suffrage since the age of thirteen when the symptoms first developed explains why she asked her husband, Robert Browning, whom she dedicated her poetry, to "neither love me for thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry". Being honest with children is very important. I love working with children because they are innocent and honest. Children will always tell you what they are thinking, how they are feeling, and they will tell you the truth. I remember watching the 5–year old granddaughter of a friend of mine. • 35. Major Project Reflection During the researching stage, I have learnt to be more open and flexible in receiving, gathering and applying information, from different sources into my Final Major Project. By looking at editorial photographers, designers, food artisans, documentaries, articles and experiencing cultural diversity that London has to offer, by going to a range of traditional and modern markets, I, then came up with a whole developed concept and made me realized to think about even the smallest elements in representing and creating my project, that could actually make a huge impact. Apart from that, I would not set aside the importance of colour investigation, drawings, the making of small initial samples as a part of my brainstorming process, photographs and... I learned to see, feel about food in a different deep perspective. The documentary has taught me the importance of respecting ingredients in the food industry, also in the design industry. This led me to find an Indonesian role model in the food artisan category, named Dade Akbar (@warteggourmet). He changed most of indonesian's perspective towards street Indonesian food and make the food looks like 5–stars hotel's food menu. This inspired me to experiment with casting process with gelatin, and especially rice and spices as the main staple ingredients. But, admittedly I did struggle during the experiment, since It was hard to control the food ingredients, whereas I had to consider the ingredients' measurements, playing with different techniques, temperature and the chemical reaction that get along. It had stopped me for trying things out for a while. Although, it helped me to always be curious of what happened next if I treated the ingredients with different technique, that is somehow what kept me going on the project. In future projects I can improve my commitment to the project, and engage onto the project continously. This would help me to overcome the struggle through finding new things in each ... • 36. Art Reflection This semester my art practice has primarily focused on utilising carefully constructed language as opposed to previous stream–of–consciousness techniques, while further investigating participatory projects, and assemblage as a new form of installation. The importance of memory and the handwritten repeatedly warranted further consideration during the course of the semester and became a fundamental element in each work. Conceptually, my practice has evolved into a critique of diaristic language by exhibiting private confessions in public spaces and inviting strangers to participate in the perverse act of reading my most personal thoughts. This notion is challenged by the introduction of secondary texts and blurs the line between what is real and what is fiction within the work. These evolving elements within my practice are best observed through works warm under orange (standstill), the pitiful militia, my mother and raymond carver, and the library respectively. Photographic series warm under orange (standstill) is the third transformation of terrible confessional and pathetic conversation: warm under orange, the second instalment of personal texts that examine emotions such as joy, anger, exposure and love. The four photographs depict orange fabric with embroidered text scrunched and folded from a variety of angles. The abstracted view of the material conceals the text embroidered, however, words such as 'listen' and 'lovely' are legible in a few of the prints. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Literary Romanticism In Wordsworth's Lyrical Ballads Literary ballads is considered the seminal inspirational work of literary romanticism in Britain. The publication of Lyrical Ballads represented a turning point for English poetry. Though the book was not originally received as a radical experiment, it was rather controversial for its time. Being released straight during the French revolution which was seen as a social experiment in itself. Coleridge encouraged Wordsworth to write a preface to Lyrical Ballads which would explain the work contained within the collection. The phrase experimental originated from Wordsworth himself and the preface gave him the opportunity to explain and defend the rather radical work to the readers. Wordsworth expressed concern on how lyrical ballads would be received by his readership. That it would not only not meet their expectations but would make them question his ability as a poet also. He knew that the poems he was writing were so intentionally experimental that his reader's reactions would be mixed ''I flattered myself that they who should be pleased with them would read them with more than common pleasure: and on the other hand, I was well aware that by those who should dislike them they would be read with more than common dislike.'' He sought to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Anecdote for Fathers showcases a touching relationship between father and son. Ninety percent of the collection in my room have sentimental values and very personal to me. For example, I would be devastated if the painting which was given to me by my late dad and my son's pictures which I treasure the most were removed from my room. Also, I would be very upset if my therapeutic bed which was a special order from Montreal: to support my back pain caused by the hit and run motor accident were to be removed. • 39. Examples Of Zoomorbalism In Life Of Pi The novel Life of Pi by Yann Martel is an immensely intriguing and fascinating story of a teenage boy, a tiger, and the perils they face while stranded on the Pacific Ocean for 227 days. In the novel, there is a collection of literary elements that help blur the line between fantasy and reality. Martel uses zoomorphism, allegory, and divergent thinking to convey the novel's fantastic world, its gruesome nature, and the essential truth it represents. Martel uses the psychological concept of zoomorphism to create ambiguity. In the second story where Pi is stuck on the lifeboat with the French cook, his mother, and the Japanese sailor, vicious acts of zoomorphism are present. The French cook, specifically, portrayed numerous animal–like actions in his posture, appearance, and even his dialect. A profound example of this portrayal was when "the cook threw himself upon the sailor's head" and deliberately "scalped him and pulled off his face" (Martel 307). This specific barbaric action alone is sufficient in demonstrating the brutal, savage methods the cook used to inflict more pain on the already suffering, injured sailor. The cook had also resorted to cannibalism, claiming that the flesh of the sailor "tastes like pork" (Martel 308). It is not common for humanity to perform such ghastly deeds that so closely resemble those of animal behavior. The numerous acts of zoomorphism reinforce the novel's gruesome nature, giving out the message that man will go above and beyond what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
