Work Directly with Patients to Collect HEO/CER Data Using Innovative Hybrid O...Quintiles
This document discusses using innovative hybrid observational research models to directly involve patients in collecting real-world data. Direct-to-patient research can speed up enrollment, improve retention rates, and reduce costs compared to traditional physician-centric models. It enables patients to provide input on study design, engage directly with researchers during and after studies, and complete studies remotely. While this approach has benefits like decreased timelines and costs, limitations include questions about data completeness and lack of physician involvement. The presentation advocates combining patient-reported outcomes, lab data, device-collected data, and electronic medical records to streamline product development and prove value through direct-to-patient innovation.

This document summarizes research on best practices in digital social media for hospitals and health systems. The research assessed the social media presence of over 2,400 hospitals on five dimensions: accessibility, content, marketing, technology, and usability. Scores on each dimension ranged from 0-10, with higher scores indicating better performance. On average, hospitals scored highest on content (6.49) and lowest on technology (4.43). The results imply that a strong, well-designed social media presence is important as it may be patients' first interaction with a facility and influence decisions. Hospitals should standardize website information quality and address accessibility, compliance, and search engine optimization.
MedStar's digital access strategy involves building an online platform to improve patients' ability to access needed information, medical records, services, and resources. The platform aims to address common access challenges like lack of cost transparency, availability issues, and cultural/linguistic barriers. It will provide search/matching, online booking, chat, and mobile apps to streamline the patient experience. Supporting services like reducing no-shows and enabling telehealth aim to further improve access. The strategy's goals are to acquire new patients, improve access for commercially insured patients, and enhance providers' scheduling abilities across MedStar's system through this centralized digital platform.
This document discusses using innovative hybrid observational research models that directly involve patients to collect real-world data for healthcare effectiveness and outcomes research (HEO/CER). It notes the increased demand for real-world data and reduced time and funding for research. It proposes directly engaging patients through technology to design more effective studies, supplement recruitment, enable proactive retention, and involve patients during and after studies. This direct-to-patient approach could provide faster enrollment, increased retention, and lower costs while balancing limitations like data completeness and lack of randomization. The approach combines patient-reported outcomes, lab data, electronic medical records, and device-collected data to streamline product development and prove value and safety.

Capitalize On Social Media With Big Data AnalyticsHassan Keshavarz
This document discusses how companies can capitalize on social media through big data analytics. It notes that while social media promises benefits, most companies struggle to measure the true value and impact. To leverage social media effectively, the entire business must be aligned in their interactions. The document also discusses how analyzing large datasets through big data analytics can provide strategic insights for success, maximize product performance, and deliver real business value. It emphasizes the need for companies to measure social media's impact on key metrics and business goals.
Every day, enterprises across the globe are engaged in two key activities: delivering effectual effects and building decisions that create impact. If you are in the big business of building enterprises that will be more valuable in future than present your decisions need to be driven by smarter data.
Companies today are witnessing a huge explosion in data availability - 90% of the world’s data was formed in the most recent years. Structured, semi- structured and unstructured data across internal business systems and external sources like social
media, market data and syndicated study are now creating an incredible opportunity to construct insights, therefore leading to intelligent decisions. However, as this data is generally available to an enterprise’s competitive set, only those who have a vision for
leveraging this intellect and are adept will eventually out-compete others.
This document summarizes an IBM executive report on using business analytics to gain competitive advantage. It discusses how analytics can help organizations understand customer behavior, risks, and regulations to inform strategic decision making. The report finds that while technology barriers to analytics are decreasing, organizational culture challenges remain, such as integrating data across departments and establishing a leadership mandate to make decisions based on facts. It recommends that organizations lay the foundation for fast responses, extract value by aligning objectives with integrated data, and use predictive analytics to detect opportunities. When applied to understanding customers, risks, and regulations, analytics can help optimize performance in today's complex environment.

The document discusses the challenges and opportunities of analyzing big data from social media. It notes that social media generates the largest record of human activity but making sense of the unstructured data is a challenge. It provides examples of how companies use social media data for applications like credit risk assessment and personalized recommendations. The document also discusses privacy and ethical issues with social media data mining, and best practices for social media marketers to leverage big data insights.
The document discusses big data analytics and provides tips for organizations looking to implement big data initiatives. It notes that while organizations have large amounts of customer, sales, and other operational data, most are not effectively analyzing and extracting insights from this data. The value is in using analytics to uncover hidden patterns and correlations to help businesses make better decisions. However, most companies currently take a slow, manual approach to data compilation and analysis. The document recommends that organizations consider big data as a business solution rather than just an IT problem. It suggests taking a journey approach, focusing on insights over data, using proven analytics tools, and delivering early business value from big data projects in order to justify further investment.
Discussion Forum data, sourced from sites like Reddit and other social media platforms, as well other sources of textual information, provides tremendous opportunity for insight and innovation. The Building Blocks of QuestDB, a Time Series Databasejavier ramirez
Talk Delivered at Valencia Codes Meetup 2024-06.
Traditionally, databases have treated timestamps just as another data type. However, when performing real-time analytics, timestamps should be first class citizens and we need rich time semantics to get the most out of our data. We also need to deal with ever growing datasets while keeping performant, which is as fun as it sounds.
It is no wonder time-series databases are now more popular than ever before. Join me in this session to learn about the internal architecture and building blocks of QuestDB, an open source time-series database designed for speed. We will also review a history of some of the changes we have gone over the past two years to deal with late and unordered data, non-blocking writes, read-replicas, or faster batch ingestion.
ViewShift: Hassle-free Dynamic Policy Enforcement for Every Data LakeWalaa Eldin Moustafa
Dynamic policy enforcement is becoming an increasingly important topic in today’s world where data privacy and compliance is a top priority for companies, individuals, and regulators alike. In these slides, we discuss how LinkedIn implements a powerful dynamic policy enforcement engine, called ViewShift, and integrates it within its data lake. We show the query engine architecture and how catalog implementations can automatically route table resolutions to compliance-enforcing SQL views. Such views have a set of very interesting properties: (1) They are auto-generated from declarative data annotations. (2) They respect user-level consent and preferences (3) They are context-aware, encoding a different set of transformations for different use cases (4) They are portable; while the SQL logic is only implemented in one SQL dialect, it is accessible in all engines.
