5. History of FIFA
The first president of FIFA was Robert Guerin. Guerin was replaced in 1906 by Daniel Burley
Woolfell from England, by then a member of the association. The first tournament FIFA staged,
the association football competition for the 1908 Olympics in London was more successful than
its Olympic predecessors, despite the presence of professional footballers, contrary to the founding
principles of FIFA.
Membership of FIFA expanded beyond Europe with the application of South Africa in
1909, Argentina in 1912, Canada and Chile in 1913, and the United States in 1914.
During World War I, with many players sent off to war and the possibility of travel for international
fixtures severely limited, the organization's survival was in doubt. Post-war, following the death
of woolfell, the organization was run by Dutchman Carl Hirschman.
FIFA's Executive Committee, chaired by the President, is the main decision-making body of the
organization in the intervals of Congress. The Executive Committee is composed of 25 people: the
President, 8 Vice Presidents, and 15 members and one woman member. The Executive Committee
is the body that decides which country will host the World Cup. The President and General
Secretary are the main officeholders of FIFA, and are in charge of its daily administration, carried
out by the General Secretariat, with its staff of approximately 280 members. Gianni Infantino is
the current president, appointed on 26 February 2016 at the Extraordinary FIFA Congress.
Six confederations and 211 national associations
Besides its worldwide institutions there are six confederations recognized by FIFA which oversee
the game in the different continents and regions of the world. National associations, and not the
continental confederations, are members of FIFA. The continental confederations are provided for
in FIFA's statutes, and membership of a confederation is a prerequisite to FIFA membership. And

History of football in Pakistan
Football in Pakistan is as old as the country itself. Shortly after the creation of Pakistan in 1947, football
federation (PFF) was created and Muhammad Ail Jannah (the founder of Pakistan) became its first
Patron-in-Chief. PFF got its recognition from FIFA in early 1948.
The game was organized with the National Championship being held annually. Pakistan for the first time
in 1950 sent a national team to Iran and Iraq to gain experience at the international level. In
1954, Pakistan national team participated in the Asian Games at Manila and also toured the FAR EAST.
In 1958, Pakistan again took part in the Tokyo Asian Games. Pakistan also had been taking part in the
annual Asian Quadrangular Tournament.
Decline in Pakistan
The game could not develop as smoothly as it should have. Pakistan's participation in international
competitions has not been regular. The standard achieved in the early 1950s could not be maintained
because of lack of organization of the game on modern lines and Groupism among the organizers.
League system in Pakistan
The highest football division in Pakistan is the Pakistan premier league, which expanded from 14 to
16 teams in August 2010.
The Pakistan national football team is a member of the Asian football federation, and its sub-
confederation the south Asian football federation, as well as world governing board FIFA.
A football game is played between two teams of 11 players each.

Rule of football game
The rules are designed to provide a compromise or combine between those of the two codes, with
Gaelic football players being advantaged by the use of a ground ball and a rectangular field measured
about 160 yards long by 98 yards wide (Australian rules uses an oval ball and field), while the
Australian rules football players benefit from the opportunity to tackle by grabbing between the
shoulders and thighs and pulling to the ground, something banned in Gaelic football. The game also
introduces the concept of the mark, from Australian Rules football, with a free kick awarded for a
ball caught from a kick of over 15 meters, where the kick must be in the forward direction if
originating from a teammate.
11. A player must bounce, solo or touch the ball on the ground once every 10 meters or six steps. A
maximum of two bounces per possession are allowed, while players can solo the ball as often as they
wish on a possession. Unlike in Gaelic football, the ball may be lifted directly off the ground, without
putting a foot underneath it first. Players however cannot scoop the ball off the ground to a team-
mate, nor pick up the ball if they are on their knees or on the ground. If a foul is committed, a free
kick will be awarded, referees (called umpires in Australian Rules) can give the fouled player
advantage to play on at their discretion. The game uses two large posts usually sets 6.5 meters apart,
and connect 2.5 meters above the ground by a crossbar with goal net that could extend behind the
goalposts and attached to the crossbar and lower goalposts, as in Gaelic football. A further 6.5 meters
apart on either side of those and did not connected by a crossbar are 2 small post, known as behind
post, as in Australian rules football.
Maximum number of interchanges per quarter increased from 10 to 16
Unlimited number of interchanges allowed at quarter and half time breaks
Number of consecutive hand-passes teams are allowed increased from 4 to 6
Marks will not be paid for backwards kicks caught by a teammate
Goalkeepers required to kick the ball out beyond the 45m line after all wide's, behinds and overs
Failure of a goalkeeper to kick over the 45m line will result in a free kick to the opposition (from the
45m line).
Points are scored as follows:
Under the crossbar and into the goal net (a goal): 6 points, umpire waves green flag and raises both
index fingers.
Over the crossbar and between the two large posts (an over): 3 points, umpire waves red flag and
raises one arm above his head.
Between either of large posts and a small posts (a behind): 1 point, umpire waves white flag and
raises one index finger.
One goal, four overs and 10 behinds, the score is written as 1-4-10(28), meaning one goal (six points)
plus 4 overs (4 × 3 = 12 points) plus 10 behinds (10 × 1 = 10 points), for a total score of 28 points.
Football ground
Width of a Football Field. The standard football field is53 1/3 yards, or 160 feet, wide. The primary
difference among different levels of play is the space between the two sets of hash marks: High
School — 53 feet, 4 inches. The pitch is rectangular in shape. The longer sides are called touchlines.
The other opposing sides are called the goal lines. The two goal lines must be between 45 and 90 m
(50 and 100 yd.) and be the same length. The two touch lines must also be of the same length, and
be between 90 and 120 m (100 and 130 yd.) in length. All lines must be equally wide, not to exceed
12 centimeters (5 in). The corners of the pitch are marked by corner flags.
12. Goals are placed at the center of each goal-line. These consist of two upright posts placed equidistant
from the corner flag posts, joined at the top by a horizontal crossbar. The inner edges of the posts
must be 7.32 meters (8 yd.) apart, and the lower edge of the crossbar must be 2.44 meters (8 ft.)
above the ground. Nets are usually placed behind the goal, though are not required by the Laws.
