Background:-
Cricket in Pakistan has a history predating the creation of the country in
1947. The first ever international cricket match in Karachi was held on
22 November 1935 between Sindh and Australian cricket teams. The
match wasseen by 5,000 Karachiites
After the independence of Pakistan in 1947, and the establishment of the
separate nation state of Pakistan, cricket in the country developed
steadily and Pakistan was given the Test Match status at a meeting of the
Imperial Cricket Conference at Lord's Cricket Ground on 28 July 1952
following recommendation by India, which, being the successor state of
the British Raj, did not have to go through such a process.
Pakistan's first Test match was played in Delhi in October 1952 as part of
a five Test series which India won 2–1. Pakistan made their first tour of
England in 1954 and drew the series 1–1 after a memorable victory at
The Oval in which fast bowler Fazal Mahmood took 12 wickets.
Pakistan's first home Test match was in Dacca in January 1955 against
India, after which four more Test matches were played in Bahawalpur,
Lahore, Peshawar and Karachi (all five matches in the series were drawn,
the first such occurrenceintest history).1
Introduction:-
Cricket is no less than a religion for the people of Pakistan. It is the sport
which creates magical unity in its people and ignites a sense of
patriotism which no other sport or event ever can. Although hockey is
the national sport of Pakistan, Cricket continues to be the most loved
and popular sports. The members of the Pakistan cricket team are seen
as heroes by their fans and people love them more than they love any
politicianor leader.2
Cricket is the most popular sport in Pakistan. Almost all districts and
neighborhoods in Pakistan have a cricket team and people start playing
from a young age. International Test and one-day matches are played
between the Pakistan national cricket team and foreign opponents
regularly. Women's cricket is also very popular, with Kiran Baluch holds

played between the Pakistan national team and foreign opponents
regularly. Though Pakistan doesn't host many international matches as
teams refuse to play in Pakistan due to security concerns. The team has
won many international cricket tournaments, including the 1992 Cricket

cricket has had players of great talent but limited discipline, making
them a team which could play inspirational cricket one day and then
perform less thanordinarilyanother day6
Test Cricket:-
The Pakistan national cricket team represents Pakistan in international

Under Misbah Ul Haq:-
After Amir, Asif and Butt were dismissed, Pakistan made Misbah ul Haq
the new captain of Pakistan. In subsequent series against South Africa in
the UAE he led Pakistan in tests. After resignation of Shahid Afridi as
test captain and suspension of Salman Butt due to spot-fixing scandal,
Misbah was preferred over Younus Khan, Mohammad Yousuf and
KamranAkmalas captain.
One of the most biggest moment for Pakistan under Misbah's captaincy
was when they whitewashed England, the then no.1 side, who toured
UAE in early 2012. Another greatest performance from Pakistan is when
they whitewashed the touring Australians.Pakistan won the matches by
221 runs and 356 runs. The win in the second Test was their highest
winning margin against any opposition in their history. Also in the same
match, Misbah equaled the then fastest Test match century off 56
deliveries.

Tape Ball Cricket:-
A tape ball is a tennis ball wrapped in electrical tape and is used in
playing street cricket. This modification of the tennis ball gives it greater
weight, speed and distance while still being easier to play with than the
conventional cricket ball. The variation was pioneered in Karachi,
Pakistan and is credited with Pakistan's famous production of fast
bowlers as children are brought up playing the game using a tape ball in
which various skills are developed. The increasing popularity of the tape
ball in informal, local cricket has transformed the way games are played
in cricket-loving nations such as India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh but
most famously Pakistan. Such has been the impact of a tape ball that in

Pakistan. Running and organised by the Pakistan Blind Cricket Council
(PBCC) which is affiliated with the World Blind Cricket Council (WBCC).

International cricket matches10
Pakistan women's cricket team:-
The Pakistan women's cricket team has a much lower profile than the
men's team. For all national women's cricket teams, the female players
are paid much less their male counterparts and the women's teams do
not receive as much popular support or recognition as the men's team.
The team played it first match during 1997, when it was on tour of New
Zealand and Australia and were invited to the World Cup later that year
and in the Women'sAsia Cup during 2005 theteam camethird place.
India–Pakistan cricket rivalry:-
The India–Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most intense sports
rivalries in the world. The arch-rival relations between the two nations,
resulting from the extensive communal violence and conflict that marked
the Partition of British India into India and Pakistan in 1947 and the
subsequent Kashmir conflict, laid the foundations for the emergence of
an intense sporting rivalry between the two nations who had erstwhile
shared a commoncricketing heritage.
The first Test series between the two teams took place in 1951–52, when
Pakistan toured India. India toured Pakistan for the first time in 1954-
55. Between 1962 and 1977, no cricket was played between the two
countries owing to two major wars in 1965 and 1971. The 1999 Kargil
War and the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks also interrupt cricketing ties
betweenthe two nations.
The growth of large expatriate populations from India and Pakistan
across the world led to neutral states like the United Arab Emirates and
Canada hosting several bilateral and multilateral ODI series involving

Pakistan's national championship. The first winner was Bahawalpur. The
outstanding player in the inaugural season was the great opening
batsman Hanif Mohammed who scored 513 runs at an average of 128.25
with a highest score of 174.
1971 to 1985:-
In 1970, the Ayub Trophy was rebranded as the BCCP Trophy and

teams qualified for a semi-final stage by winning one of four qualifying
groups. The competition's name changed again in 1973 to BCCP Patron's
Trophy.

led to the cancellation of Australia tour. The Indian team also stopped
visiting Pakistan after the Mumbai attacks in November 2008. The
PakistanCricket Board had toface a loss of Rs. 336 million in 2008-09.
2009 – Attacks on Sri Lankan Cricket Team:-

attacked by terrorists on their way to the Gaddafi Stadium. On March 03,
2009, five Sri Lankan players were injured in a terror attack when they
were heading towards the Gaddafi Stadium on the third day of an
ongoing test match.
The tour was cancelled and Pakistan’s status as a host nation came under

time. PCB yet againsuffered a huge loss of Rs. 208 million.

Although it has no direct connection with the cricket revival in
Pakistan, the message was given out loud to the cricketing communities

Conclusion:-
There is no doubt that the Pakistan cricket team has always comprised of
a bunch of special and talented players but at the same time they have let
themselves down in front of their nation because of matters such as spot
fixing. It is time that the team realizes the importance the game holds for
the country and try to maintain the integrity of the game and the nation's
pride.1 5
