87.5% Overall Passing Rate and 90.9% 1st Time Passing Rate Achieved
The winning streak of Universi-
ty of Makati (UMak) is far
from over as the Professional
Regulation Commission (PRC)
announced last July 9 that
1,325 out of 3,043 passed the
July 2015 Radiologic Technol-
ogist Licensure Examination, of
which 21 are graduates of
UMak College of Allied Health
Studies (COAHS). (Source:

UMak‟s first batch of Radio-
logic Technologist Licensure
examinees last year produced
an 8th place top notcher –
KASHIECA MOIRA PANA-
LIGAN. More recently, CAR-
MELA LEA MIRA from the
COAHS-Center of Nursing
emerged at 10th place in the
May 2015 Nurse Licensure
Examination, while College of
Business Administration gradu-
ates KRISTOFFERSON DELA
CRUZ, KARL ARJAY
TALOSIG and LESTER CAM-
ASO emerged at 5th, 12th and
16th, respectively, in the May
2015 Certified Public Account-
ant Licensure Examination.
UMak board examinees have
consistently rated above the
national passing rate, with sev-
eral top notchers from among
them.
The July 2015 Radiologic
Technologist Licensure Exami-
nation was given by the Board
of Radiologic Technology in
Manila, Davao, Iloilo and
Tuguegarao. The board mem-
bers include Reynaldo Apolo-
nio Tisado (Officer-In-Charge),
Orestes Monzon, Bayani San
Juan and Ma. Jesette Canales.
The date and venue for the oath
-taking ceremony will be an-
nounced by PRC.

UMAK STUDENTS PARTICIPATE
IN 2ND CSR LECTURE SERIES
As an educational institution
that aims to be a leading human
resource provider in the coun-
try, University of Makati
(UMak), through the Office of
the University Secretary
(OUSec) Center for External
Resources and Institutional
Networking (CERIN), has once
again collaborated with the
League of Corporate Founda-
tions (LCF) to bring to UMak
the 2nd Corporate Social Re-
sponsibility (CSR) Institute
Lecture Series for UMak stu-
dents last August 13 at the
UMak Mini Theater.
The lecture series has created a
forum to extend UMak‟s innate
philanthropy and social respon-
sibility and commitment to sus-
tained national development to
its students, in partnership with
LCF, “a network of over 70
operating and grant-making
corporate foundations and cor-
porations that promote and en-
hance the strategic practice of
corporate social responsibility
among its members and the
larger business communi-

In her speech, UMak OIC and concurrent
Vice President for Academic Affairs Da-
lisay Brawner challenged the students to
grasp all the learnings in the CSR lecture.
She added that the activity is helpful in the
innovation of the University as it transi-
tions towards the 2015 ASEAN education
reform.
LCF Executive Director Helen Orande
introduced LCF, its principles, mission
and vision, local and international part-
ners, and how it continues to support the
community through the CSR programs of
different companies and organizations.
“With much resources, come great social
responsibility and accountability,” a quote
from Bill Gates, one of the richest men in
the world, was displayed by TeaM Energy
Deputy Executive Director Roderick de
Castro in his presentation as he explained
the basic concepts and principles of CSR.
After imparting their role in CSR, an open
forum was facilitated by de Castro. UMak
students and organization representatives
actively took part in sharing and setting
their role in CSR as young citizens of the
community.
CERIN OIC Wovi Villanueva, in his syn-
thesis, challenged the participants to mani-
fest work excellence while maintaining
compassion in CSR involvement, as more
and more corporations, government and
non-government organizations now con-
sider CSR as part of their mandate. Uni-
versity Secretary Elyxzur Ramos reiterated
the call for CSR involvement and request-
ed LCF to provide a list of partners and
projects where students can actively par-
ticipate and immerse in the joint CSR mis-
sion of UMak and LCF.

tember 29 – These and more
are the highlights of the cele-
bration of University of Makati
(UMak) for the 115th
Philippine
Civil Service Anniversary
(PCSA) this September, with
the nationwide theme, Kayang
Kaya Mo, Lingkod Baya-
ni “focusing on achievements
and contributions of state em-
ployees to devel-
opment and na-
tion-
building.” (“CSC
at 115: Achieving
better and more efficient gov-
ernance”, 2015, p. 12)
Spearheaded by the Human
Resource Management Office
(HRMO) under the Office of
the Vice President for Admin-
istration and Finance (OVPAF),
with VP Aurora Serrano and
HRMO Department Head Shei-
la Villanueva at the helm,
UMak‟s yearly
celebration is
synchronized
with that of the
CSC, the coun-
try‟s premier
human resource
institution. The
Philippine
CSC‟s anniver-
sary date is
September 19.
Aside from the
four major cele-
bration events,
a series of
month-long
activities were
lined-up for the faculty, admin-
istrative employees and service
providers as a special treat “to
inspire the servant-heroes” of
the university, “instill in them
the values of responsibility and
accountability, and remind
them to uphold the time-
honored principle of „a public
office is a public
trust‟.” (“CSC at 115: Achiev-
ing better and more efficient
governance”, 2015, p. 12)
The UMak celebration kicked-
off with the colorful Sombrero
de Fruta Parada where each
administrative and academic
group exhibited creativity and
pizzazz as they gamely mod-
eled their multicolored head-
pieces. Following the flag cer-
emony, UMak OIC Dalisay
Brawner officially opened the
September event.
With their impressive array of
fruits atop their hobo hats, the
Office of the Executive Vice
President got the most attention
from the crowd and the judges,
who eventually named them the
winner in the creative parade.
The OVPAF won second place
with their combination of green
shirt and colorful fruity hats,
while the Higher School ng
UMak placed third with their
assorted fruit hat pa-
rade. The Healing
Mass andAlmusalan concluded
the morning event of the cele-
bration, while the Opening of
the 2nd Season of Active
UMak, a wellness program for
UMak employees, was held in
the afternoon.
Concluding UMak‟s CSC
month celebration are
the Awarding of CSC Special
Awards in recognition of the
noble qualities and outstanding
dedication of its employees and
faculty members and the Flag
Disposal Ceremony on Septem-
ber 29 at the Administration
Building Lobby.
