What is Universal Design?
Universal Design is designing products and environments in a
way that is accessible for all people without the need for
adaptation.
WHY?
Universal Design is needed because most environments and
products are designed for the average person. Meaning, people
who are not “average” are unable to use these things.

Allows educators to better serve students with all different
backgrounds and abilities
The goal of Universal Design in the classroom:

Learners differ in what engages them, teachers
need to gain the interest of each individual student.

Students who don’t learn like other kids get a more
personalized learning experience
Less students will be labeled as a disability because not every
student will be expected to learn the same way
The students will be on the same page regardless of how their
reading or writing skills are
