Bucktown dates back to the 1800s before Chicago was established. It was originally settled by Polish goat herders in the 1830s and later German immigrants in the 1840s. After the Chicago Fire of 1871, residents moved from the city to Bucktown. The population is currently around 13,000 with a median age of 32 and median household income of $80,974. There are several public transportation options to access Bucktown including the CTA Red and Blue lines as well as bus routes.
