The former production manager at Norampac Industries, Inc., Gerald Mayfield, is a strong believer in animal rights. More specifically, Gerald Mayfield is a dog lover and the proud owner of Casey, his beloved Yorkshire terrier, who he adopted through the organization United Yorkie Rescue three years ago.

believer in animal rights. More specifically, Gerald
Mayfield is a dog lover and the proud owner of
Casey, his beloved Yorkshire terrier, who he
adopted through the organization United Yorkie
Rescue three years ago.
United Yorkie Rescue is a volunteer organization
that takes in Yorkshire terriers and Yorkshire
mixes in many states. It places the animals it
rescues in foster homes until “forever homes” can
be found. In 2015, the group rescued 196 animals
and found permanent homes for 191 of them.

3.  In some cases, individual dogs rescued by the
organization are not candidates for adoption, usually
because of serious medical problems. These animals
enter United Yorkie Rescue’s “Forever Ours” program.
They are placed permanently in foster care through
organization volunteers, and money is provided,
through donations, for their continued medical care.
For example, terrier Baby lives in a foster home in The
Villages, Florida. Baby has many medical issues
associated with his tiny size (at age 11, he weighs only
three pounds). The organization accepts donations for
his medical care and posts updates on his progress,
along with the names of his donors, on its website.
