 An economist, Philip H. Brown has nearly two decades
of experience writing papers for academic audiences.
Among his recent works as an economist with an
emphasis on the environment, Philip H. Brown has
focused on natural disasters and adaptation in relation
to climate change.
In a recent interview with The Guardian, United Nations
official Mami Mizutori stated that countries need to
focus more on adaptation and resilience in their efforts
to respond to climate change. Her statements came
after the United Nations announced climate crisis
disasters are taking place once a week on average.

 The announcement meant that adapting to climate
change is not just a long-term problem but also a
universal issue that must be addressed as early as now.
Among her recommendations for implementing
adaptation and resiliency methods, Mizutori
recommended standardizing protocols for new
infrastructure so that roads, power supply networks,
and other vital infrastructure will be better prepared
for extreme weather, such as hurricanes and droughts.
To implement this over the next 20 years would cost
approximately $2.7 trillion, which is only around three
percent of the total estimated cost of responding to
climate-related disasters during that period.
