Coaching Log – Athlete Observation
Date 10/12/2014
Location Waterhall, Brighton (Worthing College v Merrist Wood)
Strengths I watched Oscar from the side-line meaning I have the full aspect of
evaluation when observing his performance. This is better than
observing through video analysis as you can take all other factors
into consideration. Also you can analyse things that you can’t
through video analysis such as communication.
Improvement
Areas
I could use video analysis to select from a range of games that Oscar
has played in to observe and identify the similarities and differences
between performances.
Points for
future
discussion
Watch Oscar play at a higher standard than Worthing college men’s
1XI and see the differences in his performance and see how it affects
his scores for traits of excellence.

Coaching Log – Athlete Profiling
Meeting
Date 16/12/2014
Location Worthing College
Discussion
points
We discussed the athlete perceived level of importance for each of the
individual traits for excellence. Then we discussed on his athlete’s elf
assessment which is how well he thinks he performs at out of 10 for that
trait of excellence. A final discrepancy score was then calculated and the
highest six traits for excellence were areas for testing as they were the
weakest.
Concerns There was no concerns
Points for
future
discussion
Make the athlete’s profile meeting longer to allow extra allocation for
discussion on different performances to encourage similarities and
differences to be made.

Coaching Log – Coach Profile Meeting
Date 16/12/2014
Location Worthing College
Discussion
points
We only analyzed one of Oscar’s performances in a match and not
additional performances. This hindered us to have comparisons or
differences between performances which would help to define the
player Oscar is even more. We only analyzed one of Oscar’s

record any development made through games and training.
