The United Nations was founded in 1945 to replace the ineffective League of Nations and focus on global peace and security. The UN works to keep peace, provide humanitarian aid during emergencies, fight poverty through development projects, protect the environment, and improve health and education. UNICEF was founded a year later by the UN to focus on the well-being of women and children in developing countries. UNICEF's goals include eradicating poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality, reducing child and maternal mortality, and combating diseases like HIV/AIDS and malaria.

a broad range of partners, including governments, the multilateral system, civil society
organizations, the private sector and global programme partners.

The Millennium Development Goals set out a mutual commitment between developed and developing countries to make sustained progress towards achieving this vision.
Specifically, the Millennium Development Goals aim to reduce poverty, fight disease and hunger, get girls in school and give more people access to safe water. African countries need to make the most progress if they are to meet these Goals.
World hunger is a crippling crisis which plagues humanity. We are all one people, cosmopolitans. Together we can solve this crisis. The money necessary to end world hunger is nominal at best and cheap in relative reality to the economy. By ending world hunger, a seed will germinate in the throat of greed.
