2. ABOUT THE CAUSE:
When it comes to children, the effects of illiteracy are manifold. While the goal of universal
elementary education is a long way from being achieved, and affects the condition of education
among children, even adult illiteracy has effects on them. Statistics have shown that children of
uneducated mothers are more prone to problems like malnutrition and anaemia. Illiterate adults
are also less likely to send their children to school. Education is, in all probability, the most
influential tool required to break the vicious intergenerational cycle of abuse, malnutrition,
poverty and oppression. Literacy thus requires a lot of attention.

3. STATISTICS:
India is one of the countries that is still struggling with the problem of illiteracy. The literacy rate in the
country stands at 74.04% (according to the National Census, 2011).
By the government estimate, out of 200 million children in the age group of 6 to 14 in India, around 59
million do not attend school. Of the rest, who are currently in school, four out of every 10 children
beginning to attend school will drop out before completing their primary school education.
Recent community based surveys done in 28 cities and eight rural districts in the country find that not
more than 30 per cent of school children in the age group 6 to 14, in an educationally advanced state
like Maharashtra, can read simple text fluently or do basic arithmetic sums.

4. The aim of education imparted should be to bring changes
not only in the amount of knowledge gained but also in the
abilities to do so, to think and to acquire habits, skills and
attitude which characterize an individual who is socially
accepted and adjusted.

As the main objective of this Live Project was to create corporate connections by trying to bring
Sponsorship for the NGO, we used our references and talked to the concerned people in different

Finally, we were able to get sponsorship for the NGO with the help of Navdeep, owns a
