We propose five social actions to address food security within the Wellington City region, strengthening the importance of a socially sustainable environment. A sustainable city is one that is reducing its ecological footprint whilst simultaneously improving its quality of life. Equal rights to food security and all basic amenities
Group Project: Mercia Tawhiri-Kerr, Lorna Smith, Sarah Kirk and Brittany Morgan.
Mark Durbin has experience managing the design and construction of various public and private projects including a $21 million urban park in Asheville, North Carolina and the site design for a three block redevelopment project in Frankfort, Kentucky. He has also worked on residential projects such as a 91 acre estate in Pegram, Tennessee and a $7.2 million spec home in Jupiter, Florida. Additionally, Durbin has experience working on commercial projects including a Girl Scout headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee and transforming a distribution hub into the Dollar General corporate headquarters in Scottsville, Kentucky.
Master Gardeners of Hamilton County helped design, build, and operate a demonstration garden behind the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. They constructed a covered pavilion that seats 50, a 15x30 foot greenhouse, and 25 raised garden beds. Over 60 Master Gardeners volunteered to build the greenhouse and beds. The garden hosts classes on composting, seed starting, and fall vegetables. In 2011, it produced over 2,000 pounds of vegetables for over 2,500 families through the food bank. 26 workshops were also held with 361 participants.
The document provides an analysis of a site located in North Dunedin for a sustainable communities project. It describes the history of the land and existing building, noting it was built in the early 20th century. It outlines the site features, including its north-facing orientation that takes advantage of sunlight, proximity to amenities, and large area of unused land suitable for additional development. The document evaluates the site's potential for a sustainable housing model in North Dunedin.
This document summarizes Distributed BOOF Water Resource Solutions' experience with water reuse and innovative wastewater treatment projects over the past 24 years. It discusses 40 systems using direct and indirect water reuse reducing demands by 25-95% and highlights a 20-year New Jersey project combining biogas and solar energy. It also presents wetland-based passive treatment mechanisms and explains how these innovations were implemented through entrepreneurialism, leadership, and collaboration. The document advocates for a responsible management entity to oversee distributed water/energy/nutrient services through long-term ownership and operation.
This architecture is so new and unlike anything that has come before, yet the architect Bjarke Ingels describes his process as organic and evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The two towers of Grove at Grand Bay respond to their surroundings and to each other to provide optimal views at every level, taking their design cues from the local condominium vernacular while continuing its evolution.
1) The group designed a sustainable green space within a 91m2 site located beside the Taylor's University Admissions Office to serve as a waiting area.
2) After analyzing the site's existing features and environmental conditions, the group proposed a concept to address the site's current lack of usage through the introduction of greenery, seating, and hardscaping elements.
3) The master plan, drawings, and documents presented the design which included plantings, hardscaping materials, structures like a canopy and planter boxes, and sustainable features like an efficient drainage system and LED lighting.
This document provides details about renovations to the Williamson residence in Robbinsdale, Minnesota. The remodel focused on creating sustainable additions while reusing existing structures. Shade techniques were used to cover the home like native vegetation. Interior spaces emphasize repetition through horizontal planes and extended views. Exterior areas aim to feel transparent and connected to the natural environment. The renovations were designed around the family's interests in sustainable living and coffee growing techniques.
Team Waikato from Wintec constructed a 1-bedroom relocatable house made of 90% sustainable materials like pine and plywood panels with minimal waste. The house has high insulation properties through its walls and roof, ensuring comfort year-round and significant energy savings. It is ideal for extra housing like farms or visitor accommodation. Key features include sustainably sourced pine, prefabricated insulated wall panels with little waste, a dark concrete floor for additional solar heat storage, and exterior shutters for insulation or shading of trombe walls.

The document discusses the benefits of exercise for both physical and mental health. It notes that regular exercise can reduce the risk of diseases like heart disease and diabetes, and help manage conditions like depression and anxiety. The document recommends that adults get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise per week to experience these benefits.
This project addresses how we contribute to continuous waste
in the pursuit of fashionable interiors, clothing and furniture.
In return it offers a response through the notion of up cycling
and building for re-design.
Up cycling is a process of repurposing old materials in new ways
to increase their value making it more desirable than it was
originally.
Building for re-design is building with deconstruction in mind,
the building is therefore easier to maintain and adapt to new
users.

A planisphere is a star map that calculates the positions of stars for any date, time, and location. It represents stars of different brightnesses with different sized dots. Planispheres are specific to latitude and inexpensive to make. They allow users to easily find constellations and planets by rotating the map according to the date, time, and direction being faced. Several northern constellations like Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Cassiopeia, Cepheus, and Draco can be seen throughout a full 24-hour cycle when rotating a planisphere. Websites are available to print homemade planispheres or use virtual online versions.
Media Processing Strategies for VoLTE & Interactive Voice ServicesRadisys Corporation

Manish Singh presents Monetizing VoLTE, RCS, and WebRTC at LTE North America 2013. This presentation explores how MRF facilitates incremental service revenues, OneMRF Strategy, and WebRTC Media Processing Platforms.
This webinar discusses how mobile operators can monetize VoLTE and RCS services beyond flat-rate data plans. It covers trends in LTE services, the IMS architecture as the technical foundation, and a MetroPCS case study. The webinar explores opportunities for new services, innovations, and partnerships to generate additional revenue streams. The role of the media resource function in supporting advanced services is also examined.
Radisys hosted this webinar on July 9, 2014: VoLTE in Asia Pacific - from Delay to Deploy. Ray Adensamer reviews VoLTE activity in the APAC region Ray discusses the industry hesitancy around VoLTE and walk throught a business case example.
Core Network Optimization: The Control Plane, Data Plane & BeyondRadisys Corporation
This presentation takes you through the challenges network operators are facing as they bring in more and more bandwidth-intensive applications to their network. There are ways to optimize the network from the RAN to the Core -- and improve QoS.
This document discusses mobile data offloading optimization. It begins with an overview of mobile data usage trends driving the need for offloading and the challenges it poses for operators. The presentation then covers various offloading approaches including small cells, WiFi, and optimization from access to the core network. Key opportunities and solutions discussed include security for WiFi and small cells, and handling increased network signaling load. Radisys solutions for offloading are presented, including carrier-grade small cell and SEG products. The agenda also includes discussions around the business case for offloading, possible approaches, and handling the associated technical challenges.

In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.
