Types of rom

There are three main types of ROM: PROM, which can be programmed once using a special device; EPROM, which can be erased and reprogrammed using ultraviolet light; and EEPROM, which can be electrically erased and reprogrammed and is commonly used on circuit boards to store small amounts of data and instructions.

 PROM stand for (programmable read only memory).  PROM are manufactured.  Data can written.  A special device programmer.
 EPROM stand for (Erasable read only memory)  A rewritable memory chip.  It is content without power.  External programming device.  Placed on the mother board.
 EEPROM stand for (Electronically Erasable programmable Read Only Memory).  A rewritable memory chip.  Typically used on circuit board.  Store small amount of instruction and data.
