Yet there is a vast difference in talent and skill set implied between calling someone a “real leader” or “a manager.” But what is it that determines such a distinction, and could it help identify critical competencies and clarify vital responsibilities?
In this session we will have a look at some important and useful distinctions between the capabilities and talents needed by administrators, managers, executives and leaders in order to be successful.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2. Democratic style is when the leader and some of the
group members make the decision. This is usually use
during a president voting process.
The leader who apply this style trusts only some
member to give ideas. Sometimes the other are not
involve.
The leader use this style to make it fair. He/she uses
the voting process.
The leader use this style when there are enough time
and usually in classroom, or other places.
People who use this style make decision by asking
some members about what they want and also
implement their ideas.
People that use this style are professional leaders.
3. Free-range style is when the leaders give all the work to the
group members. They let the members do the works by
themselves.
Leaders who use this style just gives suggestions to the group
members and the group do it.
People use this style because they trust the group members that
they’re smart enough to do the work. Sometimes also because
the leader doesn’t have anytime to discuss.
Professional leaders use it in classrooms, offices and it can be
everywhere like at home.
Leaders use it when they don’t have enough time and when they
know that their group members are smart enough.
Leaders use this style by just relaxing while the rest of the group
is working. He or she just gives suggestions that help the project.
Professional leaders use it if they have good members.
4. Autocratic is the leader who makes the decision
and the group members are not involved.
Leader that use this style is usually bossy leader.
Leader use this because there is not enough time
and the member ran out of ideas.
Leader use this style during camping or
anywhere that needs quick decision.
A leader use this style when the time is running
out or when the members are out of ideas.
They use this style by directly say the decision
without asking the members.
Bossy leaders use this style or the members that
out of ideas.
5. These styles are used to lead people. No
matter what, it’s the style that can finish a
project, no matter fair or unfair. These styles
are used by leaders all over the world with
different purposes.
I think the best leadership style is the
democratic style because it involves the two,
leaders and members. It makes everyone
fair.
People lead differently because they have
different opinions that can lead to different
respond towards an issue.
