Romeo And Juliet Destructive Love
William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet ...is deliberately about young love as
stated by Noah Berlatsky. He is indeed correct, as the entire play is about the two young lovers,
Romeo and Juliet, and the actions they take to be together. However, is the drama about love
overall, or is it truly about the destructive forces of love? Throughout the plot, the forbidden love
between the two lovers cause this tragedy to become even more tragic by ruining family
relationships with distrust ,thus resu lting in unnecessary deaths. Near the end of the drama,
when Capulet decides that Juliet is going to marry Paris, Juliet becomes angry ,owing to her
love for Romeo not Paris. When Juliet argues about the situation, I pray you tell my lord and
father, madam,/ I will not marry yet; and when I do, I swear/ It shall be Romeo, whom you
know I hate/ Rather than Paris. (3.5.121 4) , her father snarls back at Juliet divulging, ... get thee
to church a Thursday/ or never after look me in the face (3.5.162 3). Capulet blusters to disavow
Juliet if she does not marry Paris. This is one example of the destructive forces of love. The love
that Juliet has for Romeo overrules the part of her that obeys her father , thus causing calamity....

This distrust noticeably began in Act II, when Juliet discovers that Romeo is a Montague. She
says to herself, That I must love a loathГЁd enemy (2.5.141). She says must , although, she does
not have to love a loathГЁd enemy. She made the decision herself to love her enemy and,
eventually, covertly marry him, no one is forcing her to do any of this. This creates a sense of
distrust because Juliet purposely defies her parents. She knows that they would not want her to
marry a Montague, but she does anyway, and eventually, they find out about her betrayal. Her love
for Romeo caused her to disobey her

The Pizza Ovens And Fryers Make It Extremely Hot At Sam s...
The pizza ovens and fryers make it extremely hot at Sam s Pizza. All three pizza ovens are set to
550 degrees and, and all three fryers are set to 400 degrees. In the summer the temperature can
reach over 100 degrees in the pizza shop. Working an 8 hour shift in these temperatures can be a
grueling experience. The heatin the shop matched with the buffet and non stop pizzaorder phone
calls make it even worse. I remember the first time working a long shift when I started working
at Sam s. It was harder than I would have ever imagined. The heat really affected my ability to
work efficiently. After a few hours I could tell I wasn t working as hard as I was at the beginning
of my shift. Working tired and hungry in that heat really drained a lot of my energy. It made it hard
to communicate effectively and be nice while talking to costumers.
I m not the only one who has had bad long shift experiences. A new 16 year old employee who
started working at Sam s pizza in August didn t have the best experience on his first day at the
job. The employee worked a six hour shift and about five hours in he passed out while he was
rolling pizza dough. He was completely fine after about five minutes. We gave him water, and he
was back to work right away. He told us the reason he passed out was because he had an anxiety
attack. It was extremely hot that day, and I think the heat played a big role in making him pass out.
I ve been working at Sam s pizza for 2 years, and know how extremely hot

Fossil Fuels Vs. Renewable Energy Essay
Abstract The world can t be imagined without IC Engines ,as their applications are wider in
various fields. And mainly used input for this engines are fossil fuels. But the challenge in this is
decreasing rate of resources. The fossil fuels may not be available after some years if they used in
the same way .Not only the fossil but also the electric power is the non renewable energy, This
paper concentrates to run the engine without fossil fuels or electricity.
Keywords IC Engines, fossil fuels , non renewable energy
I.INTRODUCTION
In today s motorized life , It s difficult to live without motor (Engines) and the main source of it s
input power is fossil fuels partly electric power. In future these fuels or electricity may not be
available widely as they are non renewable energies. So, it may be difficult to use engine with the
fuels. Not only the problem of lack of resources but also but also they pollutes the environment. If
the fossil fuels are used in this way for some more years ,It may difficult to breath in the future
and many things which are harmful to the earth may happen like global warming .this may leads
in danger to the lives of creatures. To solve this problems compressed air technology (CAT) was
invented, and again the problem in this is input power. The air may be freely available in the
atmosphere , but it needs to be compressed to use and the power it needs for compression is
electrical energy , which is also a non renewable energy.

Breaking Bad is the Single Dominating Modern-day...
When it comes to shows on television today, many of the series that air aren t anything to go
crazy over, yet this definitely isn t the case for creator Vince Gilligan s, Breaking Bad. Breaking
Bad follows the life of Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), an ordinary high school
chemistry teacher. With a loving wife and teenage son at home, over time, Walter has formed an
exceedingly mundane routine for his life. After soon discovering that he had been diagnosed with
inoperable lung cancer, Walter decided to take extreme measures in order to secure his family
financially: he would descend into a world so dark and so utterly twisted, that it would eventually
consume him. Walter White became Heisenberg; the greatest drug lord the... Show more content on

From Outstanding Lead Actor to Outstanding Supporting Actress the dozens of awards the series
crew was able to wrack up serves as a clear indicator that Vince Gilligan did a noteworthy job of
selecting a first rate line of actors and actresses. By doing so, he was able to successfully execute
the vision he sought out for Breaking Bad. As viewers watch addicting episode after addicting
episode, the show progresses to straddle a line of reality and, Is that really happening? With
countless events occurring within the series that appear to be too grotesque or twisted to even
be possible, viewers must keep in mind that many of the tactful operations Breaking Bad s
protagonist executed were backed with science. In aims to retain a factor of realistic science
throughout the series, Gilligan employed several science advisers. These advisers aided writers in
implementing accurate scientific terminology in their scripts, assisted set builders in creating
functional laboratories for meth cooking, and guided Gilligan as he built his storyline to weasel
Walter and Jesse out of trouble by utilizing science. Although some scenes had a tendency to
exaggerate the discipline for dramatic purposes, a baseline of science is always discernible.
Breaking Bad s ability to exploit the field of science by dissolving human bodies in acid, inducing
unexplainable death through ricin administration, and employing phosphine gas to kill off drug
dealers, are realistic

Jazz Music
The Beginning
The word jazz did not become commonplace until around 1920 even though it had spent the
preceding decade establishing itself as a musical genre. A mix of European harmony and African
rhythm, blended with the current styles of the time such as ragtime and rhythm and blues, Jazz can
be seen as an amalgamation of different cultures and has had huge influences on, and evolved
concurrently with, American society in the past century. The birthplace of jazz is the subject of
much more controversy than its undoubted influence on society. The most commonly reported
and, in my view, logical birthplace of jazz is New Orleans. Being a port city (with people migrating
from all over the world), it was a melting pot of diverse racial ... Show more content on

The Great Depression that followed was the worst crisis in America since the Civil War. As the
1930s began, one out of every four wage earners more than 15 million men and women was
without work. (Burns, online). Burns goes on to observe that hard times hit black America
hardest. In some northern cities, six out of 10 African American workers lost their jobs. Like
many industries in The Great Depression, the music industry struggled for survival. American
record companies, which were selling more than 100 million records a year throughout the
twenties, had now dropped to just six million. (Burns, online). With this struggle and misery ever
so present, people began to look to music as an emotional escape. Musicians needed to play it
and the rest of society needed to hear it. The Depression meant that millions of people all over
America would now be exposed to the sounds of all kinds of music played by all kinds of people
for free. As Burns explains, jazz, which had always thrived in adversity and come to symbolize a
certain kind of American freedom, would be called upon to lift the spirits and raise the morale of a
frightened country. And in the process, it would begin to break down the barriers that had separated
Americans from each other for centuries.
In the mid 1930s, as the Great Depression stubbornly refused to lift, jazz came as close as it has
ever come to being America s popular music. (Burns, online). Now labeled Swing it was a shining

Egypt Complex Civilization
Ancient Egypt was a complex civilization because it had all of the important society indicators. In
the earlier years the Egyptians spent most of their time as being hunters and gathers. Then once
they settled by the Nile River, they started farming. Once even more people settled in, the
population continued to grow. This is how Egyptbecame a complex civilization and the seven
indicators became a big part of Egypt.
One way Ancient Egypt was a complex civilization is by having methods of keeping records. The
ancient Egyptians used a writing called hieroglyphs for this indicator. Ancient Egypt had a language
called hieroglyphs that they started using around 3100 B.C.E. Hieroglyphs was the important

Millie was born in Brooklyn, in 1898; she was one of twelve children. Millie constantly
compared herself negatively with her eldest sister, the fortunate, preferred sibling in her mind.
Her eldest sister was an artist and Millie considered herself more of the domestic one. From her
earliest childhood Millie has resented this sister for the attention she believed she received from
their mother. I can relate to Millie in this aspect of her life because I was the sister that helped my
mother with all the domestic work and it composed me to feel less valued and I felt my mother

Arranged Marriage And Other Types Of Marriage
An arranged marriage by definition is a marriage planned and agreed upon by the families or
guardians of the bride and groom. The amount of input a bride or groom has is based on the type
of arranged marriage (Psychology Wiki). Arranged marriage is a sensitive topic as it involves the
values, beliefs and core characteristics of many people. There are multiple views on arranged
marriage, both positive and negative. In the west, most individuals have negative opinions on
arranged marriage. Arranged marriage can be researched and analyzed from an anthropological,
psychological and sociological perspective. Through the three perspectives, many distinctive

type of marriage, the bride/groom has significant input (Psychology Wiki). The last type is, a
modern arranged marriage with courtship, this type of marriage is the same as a modern arranged
marriage, but the bride/groom have time to connect and create a foundation for their marriage

Children of arranged marriages usually follow the tradition. There are a lot of ways culture
influences an arranged marriage. In an arranged marriage the things that are observed in a spouse

caste/religion, horoscope and medical health (Traditional and Psychology Wiki). Within the cultures
that practice arranged marriage such as the Indian and Pakistani culture, children are brought up
with an emphasis on family and their future rather than love, which is why many simply

The dynamic nature of the practice of pharmacy requires pharmacists to be aware of the need for
personal management. There is a brighter future for pharmacy if pharmacists can manage their

After my freshmen year, I was so inspired by how much help I got from the tutors that I decided to
tutor calculus. I was inspired because I knew how tough it was to adjust to a new school system
when one is swamped with many assignments. Although I had gone through a couple of training
sessions at the beginning of the semester, I didn t know what to expect for my first tutoring
session. My first session was with a girl named Jamie. Jamie was having problems solving
logarithmic equations. I started by taking a look at her notes from class and it seemed like the
professor went over a few problems in class. As a result, Jamie was having difficulty with solving
questions unlike what had been solved in class. These were problems I had gone through last year
so I knew how to explain the concept to her. I started by asking her questions so she could think
through the questions. She struggled through answering the questions but as time went on she
gained more confidence and was able to work through the problem herself. I was so proud of her.

The Importance Of Mentoring
Criminologist James Fox of Northeastern University predicts that murders committed by teens will
skyrocket as the population of kids 10 and under is higher than population of 21st century teens by
20%. (Stephens) Mentoring is the act of helping out someone that isn t as knowledgeable or
experienced in different areas. The goal is to make them leaders. (Patterson)
To be a good mentor you have to have great qualities like being helpful and being really good at
giving good constructive criticism. Whomever you re mentoring should receive information that is
both positive and negative. You want to makes sure you give pros and cons so that your mentee
can learn from them. (Patterson) Some social activities that you can do in mentoring programs
include talking about life experiences, having lunch together, and visiting the mentor s home for a
bonding experience. (Wexler) Although most mentoring programs usually have short durations
and are claimed to be a waste of money, they are beneficial to girls because they prevent peer
pressure, diseases, and pregnancies; encourage girls to be more mannerable, respectful, and
ladylike; and results in kids being more likely to graduate high school and attend college.
Mentoring is necessary to a healthy society because it prevents pregnancies, peer pressure,
diseases. Sixth graders are in a transitioning stage from elementary to middle schools. A lot of them

This approach is a way to miss and dismiss the point of Blacks actually discussing the critical
state their community is in. The focus is not black lives over other s lives in the world, but is it
the focus of the neglect of black lives, when taken away, they are not viewed with disgust as
when their white counterparts die/are harassed in the same manner. It s weirdly interesting that
when Blacks are literally killed for following the law and are unarmed, they are blamed for their
own death, all because a cop feared for their life. Once officers say that phrase, which I view as a
clichГ© to say when one signs up for such a fearful job, cases are usually wrapped up and
forgotten about. However, thanks to social media, the public is able to see the hideous lies and
blatant truth about certain cases that highlight why the people have a problem with the
government and distrust the police. Oddly as all Americans are forced to pay taxes, these taxes
go to public necessities like schools, to fire stations and to the police station, even to wars. Sadly
I interpret it as the government focuses Blacks to pay police to kill their people off, and the
government seems to always instantly support the officer s word over the victim (if still alive), and

elderly in Nigeria in general, and in particular among the Yoruba of Southwest. The paper

For example, an older person who was hard to get along with is more likely to lack support than
the cheerful old person who gets along well with family and neighbours (Peil, 1991). All these are
important variables, which determine whether individuals will receive adequate care and
support from family and society. It is evident from the various literature that, very little attention
has been paid to older people of modern industrializing societies of the world. In Nigeria for
example, as well as in most developing countries, the need to plan for the welfare of older
persons has received very little attention. There are clear evidences of lack of formal social
support services for older people in Nigeria, such as Social Securiy, Pension, Health Insurance
Scheme, Old Peoples Home, etc. One of the explanatory factors arises from the belief that the
existing extended family system generally protects and provides for the welfare of old people in
rural and agricultural societies. Hence, where an older person is childless, his/her brothers or sisters
or even the children of his siblings are believed to be responsible for his/her maintenance. This may
not be unconnected with why most policies, programmes and projects in the developing countries
such as Nigeria have been concentrated on the children and the youths at the expense of older
persons in the country. Both national and international organizations are seen working tirelessly

Concentration Camp Research Paper
Bella Gonzalez Dina Hanna Daily Life in The Camps Life in a concentration camp was truly
horrific, as many are already aware. But we tend to overlook the small details about the daily
lives of prisoners that make the whole situation so much worse. The moment prisoners arrived at
a concentration camp, they were stripped of their names and possessions. They were all given a
number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their
heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received
a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side
of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers
know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue,
criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown,
and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead
of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be
made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of
David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded... Show more content on

Similarities Between Wordsworth And Muir
Two talented literary authors William Wordsworth and John Muir express their emotions towards
through their writing; their belletristic stories depict how their experiences with nature positively
impacted their lives while giving them constant memories that will stay with them forever. Both
Wordsworth and Muir used syntax and diction to verbalize their passionate relationship towards
nature.
In I Wandered Lonely as a CloudWilliam Wordsworthwrites of a lonely day while out for a walk;
until he stumbles across a bed of beautiful golden daffodils dancing in the breeze.
Wordsworth writes: A poet could not be but gay, in such a jocund company (stanza3). In this

Muir fills with excitement from his discovery; he describes the joy he felt over calypso in the
following quote: It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down
beside it and fairly cried for joy . In this passage, Muir used words like spiritual to explain Calypso s
beauty and used the phrase fairly cried for joy to express what great happiness they had flower
brought to him.
After reading and analyzing Wordsworth s poem and Muir s essay, I can see that both men use
writing as a creative way to express their love for nature all around them.
In Wordsworth s poem, he used syntax and diction to show how the flowers changed his once
depressed lonely mood to positive and grateful. While in Muir s essay, he also uses diction to tell
his story of finding calypso and his overwhelming sense of happiness when he finally sat by the
beautiful flower.
In conclusion, both John Muir s and William Wordsworth s stories depict nature in different ways,
but it s their shared love for writing and appreciation for nature that makes them one and the same

Woody goes through many milestones in which he shows that being a failure is not such a bad
thing after all. Collectivity is shown in the move when Buzz and Woody, the replaced toy,

The Culture Of African Music And Early African American...
The earliest recorded time there was music in African culture would be only when royalty was
around. With the king s arrival there would be beats of drums following the announcement of his
arrival. Also for gatherings the king would have musicians play when desired. Music was
considered be something that help mend the pain, something that could feel the empty void slaves
had, something that could only express with their tears could no longer do. Music had many roles
in African Americanculture, from someone getting married to just singing about your daily life.
They also used music for communication which was called the call and response. Call and
response is when you have one person who is the soloist sing some thing and then there is a
corresponding voice or voices who then echoes the soloist. Another form of communication the
slaves had were drums, until they were banned because white slave masters began to get paranoid
about a slave riot.
Early African American culture brought their culture where ever they traveled while they were
slaves. This lead to the reason why Caucasian slave masters tried to limit the expression of what
the African Americans could do. To many Caucasian people during this time had various opinions
about how this type of behavior is so far from the norm. Early African American people used to use
music to escape the threshold of slavery. They would do this for various occasions such as
marriage, death, birth and puberty. To get the rhythmic beats and

Drive, sir? Mama, that ain t no kind of job...that ain t nothing at all (Hansberry pg.73). When
considering Willy s circumstance, he insists that he is crucial to the company he works for, if
old man Wagner was alive I d a been in charge of New York now (Miller pg. 4) and that he should
be a leader by now rather than simply being an employee. These quotes exemplify the idea that
believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the
struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that
both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists
because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in
this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them

Salesman only features white characters, however, a different type of prejudice is shown in the
play. Because Willy is much older now, he doesn t feel like he possess the energy or the capacity

Supply And Demand Of Demand
Supply and Demand Kimberly Jo DeVoy Western Governor s University Supply and Demand
A.Elasticity of demand represented as Ed is defined as a measure of the response of a consumer
to a change in price on the quantity demanded of a good (McConnell, 2012). Determinants for
elasticity of demand would include the substitutability of a good, proportion of a consumer s
income spent on a good, the nature of the necessity of a good and the time a purchase is under
consideration by the consumer. Furthermore, elasticity of demand is calculated with this
formula: Ed = percentage change in quantity demanded of product X percentage change in price
of product X When price elasticity of demand is elastic, the coefficient will be greater than one.
When a percent price change occurs quantity demanded responds strongly there will be a large
change in quantities consumers purchase. There is price sensitive in this scenario. If price
elasticity of demanded is inelastic the coefficient will be less than one. When a percent price
change occurs quantity demanded does not respond strongly then there is a slight change in
quantities consumers will purchase. There a weak price sensitive in this scenario. Lastly, if price
elasticity of demanded is unit elastic the coefficient will be equal to one. Whenever there is a
percent change in price there is an equally matched percent change in quantity demanded. This
scenario is rare. B.Cross price elasticity represented as Exy is

Desmin As A Type IIi Intermediate Filament Protein
Desmin: Its Role in Desminopathy
Introduction
Desmin is a type III intermediate filament protein that is muscle specific and is found in all muscle
types: smooth, cardiac, and skeletal. Autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive desmin gene
mutations affect desmin (DES) and oftentimes О±ОІ crystallin (CRYAB), a chaperone for DES,
which leads to a type myofibrillar myopathy, known as desminopathy (Goldfarb et al., 2010).
Desmin is the most abundant IF protein in striated and smooth muscle cells and is one of the
earliest markers of muscle development (Clemen et al., 2012). Desmin filaments are mainly
located at the periphery of Z disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle
cells, and they have been thought to play a major role in the maintenance of structural and
mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissues (Paulin Li, 2004). A
dysfunctional desmin protein cannot properly interact with Z discs, leading to abnormalities of
sarcomere structure and problems with the formation of myofibrils (NIH, 2016). The resulting
pathology, desminopathy, is one of the most common intermediate filament human disorders
associated with mutations in closely interacting proteins (Goldfarb Dalakas, 2009). This condition
is defined as skeletal and cardiac myopathy characterized by the presence of chimeric aggregates
in muscle fiber areas that consist of DES, CRYAB and other proteins (Goldfarb et al., 2010). While

U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally approved the use of Heron Therapeutic, Inc.

FDA approves Sustol to help nausea and vomiting from Chemotherapy
As reported by Tech Times, the approval was given on August 9, after twice rejected in a period of
6 years. According to Ralph Boccia, medical director of Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders,
Sustol has proven to give longer acting prevention of CINV to cancer patients after chemotherapy.
According to Boccia, it is an interesting option, that, for up to five days can protect patients from
CINV.

Here lies Sustol s superiority over other similar treatments. Approval given to Sustol includes using
other agents combined in its use. It is a bit disappointing, though, that platinum based therapies are

chemotherapy.
The clinical trial populations and results for Sustol, according to Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, CEO of North
Shore Hematology Oncology Associates clinical research, are a good representation of cancer
patients who participate in their real world clinical practice, according to Fierce Biotech. He added
that CINV remains the most significant challenge with patients receiving AC (anthracycline and
cyclophosphamide) based regimens and Sustol represents a better option to deal with this painful

Rejections by FDA to Heron s Sustol happened twice. The first was in 2010, when additional
testing was required by the agency. The second application received another rejection three years

Full House Vs Modern Family
Have you ever wondered if there is a difference between sitcoms back then and now? This paper
is going to compare and contrast the differences between an episode of Full House and an
episode of Modern Family. We are able to spot notable differences and similarities by comparing
the characters, plot, and setting for both of these sitcoms. First off we are going to compare the
characters. As shown in Modern Family, Manny steals a necklace on accident and does not want to
have to own up to it. Manny is very proper and acts more like an adult than a kid. He cares a lot
about his appearance and usually does not steal but may have inherited this from his mom, Gloria
(Gloria grew up in Columbia and had many bad influences as a kid such as stealing). Manny can
be related to Stephanie in Full house because she also makes a mistake, She cuts Jessie s precious

In modern Family there are multiple setting because they are able to go to many places to film.
In the episode they start in a grocery store ,then go to Manny s house, then the school, then Phil s

clothing than it was in Full House. As in Modern Family when Claire had to prove she was
right, This entailed going to the store and buying the tapes to show that she was wrong. In the
past you couldn t just got to the store to buy the video camera recordings. They didn t even have
cameras to record what you were doing. This is very different than Full House in which the main
settings are all at one house. The consist of upstairs, downstairs, and the backyard. Throughout the
episode they do not show any other places. With the power of technology we are about to now go
to many different places. Also in Full House they have laugh reels ,that are not very believable, to

they began the Space Race between them and the United States. The next step in the space race
was to send a human into orbit which the USSR also succeeded at by launching Yuri Gagarin into

Confucius And The Chinese Sage
1. Confucius said, The gentleman understands integrity; the petty person knows about profit. (18)
Confucius high emphasis on morality instead of profit was one of his major political ideals that he
tried to persuade the the rulers of the kingdoms to pursue. However, his failure to convince any of
those rulers reflected the prevalent pragmatic political culture at that period. After all, the kingdoms
were at war with each other so that Confucius idea was inevitably less popular than those battle
winning strategies in favor of profit.
Nevertheless, hundreds of years later, when China became a large unified country, its emperor
started to promote Confucius s ideas nationwide and even integrated them into 科举 to select

We learn that a sage recognizes a sage, whereas an ordinary man cannot recognize a sage. The
ordinary man sees nothing but the outer form of a beggar, while the sage has a penetrating eye
able to recognize the hidden essence. (77)
In ancient East Asian countries, sages were a group of people respected by educated people and
revered by the common illiterate mass. According to the text, the sages were those who with acute
eyes that penetrate to the essence. This statement emphasizes the distinction between the sages and
ordinary people. Although the text only shows one characteristic of the sages, sages were indeed
special for the Chinese society and the Confucianism.
For the ancient dynasties of China and Japan that influenced by Confucianism, sages were often
focusing on developing their thoughts and were not directly involved in politics. Although the
government officials studied Confucianism when they were student, oftentimes they were not
considered as sages probably because they did not possess the characteristics of the sages and did
not develop their own Confucianism theories. The sages influence mainly came from their

Analysis Of The Old Man And The Sea
From a renowned author writing illustrious novels such as A Farewell to Arms to a jaded author
writing undistinguished novels such as Across the River and Into the Trees. Ernest Hemingway
was at the pinnacle of his career during the 1920s 1940s (O Hara John); however, when Across
the River and into the Trees was released to the public he was dethroned and his writing career

Providing public subsidies for private stadiums is providing corporate welfare plain and simple.
Public subsidies for stadiums go directly into the pockets of team owners and players by
increasing profits, player salaries and raising the re sale value of the team. According to one study,
a new stadium increases team profits by an average of $11 million annually, payroll salaries by $14
million and increases team book value by $90 million. (Depken, 2003) The billionaire team
owners and the player s profit, but the taxpayer doesn t see a dime.
Politics Involved
The fear of losing a sports team, and the votes of sports fans, have caused local officials to blink
time and time again and to waste public funds to buy the votes of the vocal and organized few,
versus the best interests of the largest portion of their voters.
Thus we can see why public money is eagerly donated. The full costs of a stadium and the damage
it does to communities are often years in the future, long after the politician is known for being the
hero that save our local team and has moved on to bigger and better things, now with the campaign
funding of the very teams that they built homes for and the fans who continue to pay. Team owners
can choose new cities but cities can t choose new teams thanks to the leagues government

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Hospitalization
Healthcare is an issue that affects people all around the world. Many countries have adopted
different perspectives on how to solve this problem. Two of the main solutions to the healthcare
problem are a free market healthcare system or a national healthcare system. Both of these
positions have positive and negative attributes that come into play when they are compared with
one another. These systems create an environment where the majority of people receive
healthcare but in different ways. Healthcare is something that allows people to use hospitals and
other facilities at a reduced cost. This enables people to get check ups and immunizations without
paying for the full cost of the visit. In the case where hospitalization occurs healthcare covers a
large portion of the costs to stay in the hospital and the procedures that you may undergo while
you are in the hospital. Healthcare becomes very important to individuals all around the world
with the price of hospitals and other facilities rising. This rise in prices is making it hard for
people to get the appropriate care they need without having insurance companies pay for part of the
expenses. A national healthcare system, also called universal healthcare, is one where every citizen
is provided with some healthcare coverage whether it be from the government or private industries.
Some, but not all, of national healthcare systems are single payer healthcare systems. A single

Vodka Informative Speech
All About Vodka:
Vodka is a master of disguise and that s intentional. There are no universal rules to producing
vodka, but the final product is supposed to be odorless, colorless and tasteless. Distillers like to
leave their mark, though, so they tend to leave in at least some flavor so you know you re drinking
their vodka. That might make it a little less interesting to drink straight (though it can certainly still
be enjoyed this way), but vodka is perfect for mixing.
It s made from fermented grains or potatoes, though you ll also find vodka that comes from sugar
alcohols or various fruits. Some of the best known vodka producers hail from Russia, Belarus,

That s why many producers cut it with distilled water. In America, Everclear offers the highest
alcohol by volume at 95 percent, while a few Polish vodkas contain 98 percent alcohol by volume.
Flavored Vodka:
Key to vodka s explosion in America was the introduction of flavored vodka. Well, that and an
enormous marketing push by Smirnoff in the 50s and 60s. Many vodka brands began adding
flavor to the alcohol to make it more appealing, and today you can find almost any infusion you
could dream of.
Try Smirnoff Raspberry, Svedka Mango Pineapple, and CIROC Apple Vodka to dip your proverbial
toes into the flavored vodka waters. Flavors add drinkability when you shoot vodka straight and
can enhance cocktails if you prefer adding mixers to your beverage.
How to Drink It:
Vodka is a blank slate, so use your imagination. Screwdrivers, martinis, bloody marys and
greyhounds are just some of the classic cocktails. There s also the ubiquitous vodka and soda,
which might help you feel more sophisticated. However, if you find yourself in possession of a

Cover To Cover Movie Vs Book
Hello and welcome to Cover to Cover , the segment where I compare and review a book and its
movie counterpart. Today, we ll be looking at The power of one , by Bryce Courtenay.
This is an American drama film, set in South Africa in times of apartheid in World War 2. It s the
story of a 6 year old boy named Peter Philip Kennith Keith , or better known as Peekay , who
struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and displays how even the power of only one,
can change a nation.
The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book at the
beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where major differences and
variations occur between the two, which doesn t contribute to the film being as believable as the
novel. An example of this is what occurs during Peekay s travel to his grandpa, via the train. The
sequence of events during this travel are left out in the film, which actually left me quite confused

Close up scenes seemed to be particularly well done, with use of cutting between two subjects
(particularly in the scenes where Peekay attends boxing training). This shows the different
emotions and expressions of various characters. However, there are times where constant cutting
can become irritating and rather unnecessary. Special effects and props didn t feel as if they were
believable enough to take seriously. Use of lighting in various scenes can evoke different feelings
and display environments in a different perspective. A good example of this is where, during the
piano and singing performance by the prisoners, Piet walks along the back of a building, making
his way towards the performance, when a guard encounters him, beats him up for not telling what
the prisoners are singing, and then dies. This scene darkens all surroundings and shines exclusively

Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease that can harm any organ of the body, especially the
lungs. Every year about over a million people die due to tuberculosis and even more are infected. A
person in contact with an infected individual can easily put themselves at risks of getting TB. Due
to the emergence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosisinfections commenced to
increment more rapidly. A person with HIV has an impotent immune system which is not able to
fight infections such as tuberculosis. There are many ways to diagnose, prevent and treat the
further spread of this disease.
There are many ways to identify and diagnose the presence and severity of tuberculosis. One of the
most prevalent ways to test for TB is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB.
Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close
contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it
can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet
(bacillus), it settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system
and reach the alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the
most abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These
macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to
obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the
balance that occurs between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the
alveolar macrophage fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the
macrophage lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into
macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the
macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then be transported to
the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. After two to three weeks of infection,
the helper T cells are

No Video Games in Education in Pamela Paul s Book Reading,...
Pamela Paul, author of Reading, Writing and Video Games , demonstrates that video games should
not be part of the education. Paul asserts there is no learning from playing video games and the
education should be the same old fashion. Paul observes the technology in classroom could be
useful for the students. However, she thinks the children should stick on reading and writing for
learning. Finally, Paul prefers to let the children play video games in free time rather than let them
play video games for education. Although, Paul idea of using technology in classroom and
marketing education fun games are true, the idea of letting the children play games that are not
educational in their free time are inaccurate.
First, One implication of Paul treatment of saying there is a place for technology in the classroom
is that a good idea. Paul is surely right about having technology in classroom help show the idea to
the students. Also, teacher used the projector to share notes and show videos to the students.
However, using tablets in the classroom can be easy to do quizzes and exams, and that give the
teacher more time to explain more information to the class. Also considering giving live lecture
between two schools in different country could help exchange more knowledge. Finally, schools
should concerns having more technology in classrooms to help the students learn more and fast for
there own benefits.
Second, Paul assumes that many of the games marketed as educational aren t as

Sweat by Zora Hurston Essay
Zora Neale Hurston s short story Sweat takes place in the 1920s in a small African American
community in southern Florida. The story takes a look at a woman dominated by her husband,
a common issue for many wives in the south during this time. Delia Jones, the protagonist in the
story, is a hard working woman who has bought her own home and supported her husband for
fifteen years by taking in the laundry of white folks from the next town over. Delia s husband
Sykes does not value her or the work she does to support the both of them. Sykes has abused his
wife for fifteen years and takes no shame in parading around his fat mistress for all to see. Sykes
wants to get rid of Delia and take everything she s ever worked for. Delia, though... Show more

Depending on who is speaking at the time, the tone of Sweat seems either one of anger and
frustration, one of hope and determination, or one of sadness and despair. When Sykes speaks
the tone is angry and evil because almost everything that comes out of his mouth is negative. In
comparison, When Delia speaks the tone rings more of peace, hope, and determination. When the
narrator chimes in the tone seems sad because he/she informs the reader of the upsetting truths
about Delia s marriage and the many hardships she has had to face throughout the story. Delia
represents the good in the story. She remains calm, level headed, and spiritually in tune despite
her husband s determination to make her miserable. Once a right pretty li l trick, Delia is now
worn and dried out like sugar cane that s been chewed to no end ( Sweat 43). However her soul
remains strong as she turns to her spirituality for comfort and hope. She has smarts although
uneducated and the fact that she built her own house and now supports her and her husband by
washing white people s clothes demonstrates her strength and determination. Delia is a dynamic
character as shown early in the story with this quote: She seized the iron skillet from the stove and
struck a defensive pose, which act surprised him greatly, coming from her. Sykes dumbfounded
reaction to Delia s defensive action allows the reader to assume that this

Literature Review BSHA/442 August 06, 2012 Dr. Elizabeth Thompson Literature Review Special
needs individuals are not different from everyone they just need a little extra help along their way.
This population has to have mediation because there are many who cannot speak for themselves.
They need the help from a neutral person so that they can discuss complications that they may be
dealing with without judgment. Advocacy is a necessity too because that individual needs a person
to stand by their side and help them fight for what is right. In todays society people only care about
themselves. This hinders those that have special needs because they also need people... Show more

Managing The Working Environment And Supports The Overall...
As a business leader, when I review a situation or event, especially with regards to financials, by
means of complex mathematical and statistical modeling I am using quantitative analysis. The
Human resources department is a critical component to managing the working environment and
supports the overall business strategy. Through a quantitative understanding of company problems,
I and my fellow Human Resource associates can identify, analyze and solve problems. Quantitative
analysis offers a systematic methodology for utilizing raw data and information. I know that
quantitative methods allow my department to produce accurate none biased reports that help shape
our company. The derived facts and information can therefore be considered to better position the
department in maintaining and growing our success within retention, hiring and job satisfaction.
While Human resourcesis greatly focused in recruiting and hiring the right people, many HR
professionals work in many facets beyond hiring. As a human resource professional, I work within
an array of company segments, which are not entirely based in hiring or recruiting. My duties are
inclusive of unemployment reporting, hiring, workers compensation, tax payments, reconciliations,
healthcare audits, 401K payments etc. Among those responsibilities, I also serve as the company s
chief payroll officer. Thus, I work hand in hand with our finance and accounting departments to
ensure that our payroll expenditures are

Compare and Contrast Dna and Rna
Compare and contrast DNA and RNA. Discuss why humans did not evolve with one central
repository of DNA, but rather it is replicated throughout the body?
Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA): It is helical double stranded nucleic acid made of complementary
purine and pyramidines supported by deoxy ribose sugars and phospodiester structures. (5 Prime to
3 prime). Eukaryotic DNA material.
Ribonucleic acid (RNA): It is a single nucleic acid supported by adenine, guanine, cytosine and
uracil supported by ribose sugars. mRNA, rRNA and tRNA.
Double standed RNA Viruses are also with RNA as genetic material

The four bases found in DNA are adenine (abbreviated A), cytosine (C), guanine (G) and thymine
(T). A fifth pyrimidine base, called uracil (U), usually takes the place of thymine in RNA and
differs from thymine by lacking a methyl group on its ring.
If we only had one central repository of DNA, it would take a long time for a protein to be made.
We d have to make it far in advance of needing it, so we wouldn t be able to quickly respond to new
situations. Imagine if you were out hunting, and suddenly, a wolf appeared at your side. If you
were slow at making proteins because you had one central repository of DNA, the wolf would
probably get to you before you could respond safely.
Also, regulation of proteins occurs at the level of DNA as well as on other levels. In some cells,
certain sections of DNA are bundled tight in a mass of proteins, in such a way that no RNA (and
thus no protein) can be made from them. This turns off those genes. In other sections, only a few
proteins might be keeping the DNA turned off, so that it could quickly be unravelled and used to
make proteins.
This decreases the chance of harmful mutations killing the entire body, as well. Right now, you
have redundancy many copies of heart cells, each with a full set of DNA. Now imagine that
something goes wrong with one of those cells. It can safely suicide , and the other cells will
replace it.
If we had one central set of DNA, if anything ever went wrong

The Controversiality Of Universal Health Care In The...
The concept of universal health care can be controversial because of what it entails of the people.
Having a universal health care system requires the recipients to pay a sort a tax to fund the
benefits. This can infringe on freedom of the individual since they would have no choice but to pay
their tax.10 For poorer countries, providing healthcare can be costly while others in wealthier
countries may not wish to provide health care services and leave it to private insurers despite its
benefits. This causes numerous problems for making health care a human right as seen in Jordan.
In Jordon, the government made many improvements in health care but, there are still issues that
persist. Despite not guaranteeing health care in their constitution,

Cell Signaling Essay
Cell signaling in the central nervous system refers to the communication that occurs in cells to
coordinate* cell actions, as the cells receive and respond to other cells to help with many functions
in the body, from immunity to development to growth.
Cell signaling begins at the axon of the cell, which is the long fiber part of a nerve cell where
electrical impulses are conducted and sent from the cell body through the axon to other cells. At the
axon the action potential (define short term change in the electrical potential on the surface of a cell
(e.g. a nerve cell or muscle cell) in response to stimulation, and then leads to the transmission of an
electrical impulse (nerve impulse) that travels across the cell membrane.) is conducted. ... Show

The voltage dependent sodium and potassium channels are closed. A stimulus would then cause the
voltage dependent sodium channels in the neuron s membrane to open, causing the Na+ ions that
were outside the membrane to rush into the cell. This would cause the cell to become more
positive. If the signal is strong enough to cause the voltage to reach a threshold, in which the
positive charge reaches somewhere between 40 and 55 mV, it causes a depolairsation as the cell s
charge is a reverse due to it being more positively charged while the outside of the cell, lacking in
Na+, becomes negatively charged.
The depolarization triggers the sodium channels to close, and the voltage dependent potassium
channels to open, causing K+ to move out of the cell to reduce the concentration gradient**. This
is the repolarisation stage, as the inside of the cell becomes more negative as the K+ ions leave the
cell.
The neuron is then hyperpolarised when there are more K+ on the outside than Na+ in the inside
of the cell, meaning the cell has a more negative charge than the outside of the cell. This causes the
cell s potential to be slightly lower than its initial resting potential. This is the last stage of an action
potential, after which there is a refractory (resting) period until which the cell returns to its resting

Social Inequality Essay
Social Inequality
What is social inequality? What are the sources of social inequality? For me, social inequality
cannot be described in one sentence. Factors such as race, wealth, class, gender, age, among
others all play roles into why people can sometimes be treated unfairly. However before I
introspectively reflect on social inequality, there is one theory that suggests where today s society
is heading for me. Karl Marx is known as a prominent economic and political influence that lived
during the 19th century. Marx s theory of stratification is very applicable to where society,
especially in the United States, is heading today. According to Marx, society would become divided
into two classes, the dominant capitalist or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Smeeding, Timothy) Some economists even refer to Russia and Mexico as developing
countries. Essentially the United States has the biggest economic gap among all developed
countries. Why has that occurred? CEO s, professional athletes, actors ect. make most of the
money earned in this country, leaving everyone else to work for them while they make a
ridiculous income and the workers settle for just enough to have a modest lifestyle. The other
day I was watching a film that promoted a similar theme to what I am trying to convey. The
production was called In Time starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Basically instead
of money people were paid in time that they had left to live. In the movie we see a huge disparity
in how different people live based on how much time they had. The important figures in their
society used the time they had to manipulate everyone else because they could afford to give some
away. This represents how money is influential in today s culture. Through outlets like social media,
advertisements, and important public figures having money is portrayed as being paramount.
However the opposite, if someone is living in poverty, something must be wrong with them or they
aren t as valuable to the community. To create a successful, tolerant, and synergistic society money
cannot determine someone s worth to society. Obviously

How Women s Influence On Women
How to Understand Women
How many times have you thought to yourself Oh man, women are crazy; how will I ever
understand them? With a few simple suggestions, your perspective on the notoriously complicated
world of women will change completely. Rather than continuing to be confused, you will soon
realize that women, people who may be thought to be initially confusing, are actually
understandable. In order to understand women, all that it takes is a little patience, communication,
and sensitivity on the other s behalf. By reminding yourself of the need for each skill, you will be
speaking the language of women in no time!
In the beginning, it may be difficult to understand said language because some claims that women
make have an alternate meaning. Although they may say one thing, they may actually mean
another. Some claims may be deceiving, and it is for this very reason that patience is key to a
healthy understanding of women. While men are known to make direct requests, women are
infamous for hinting rather than outright stating. If a woman is clearly upset but responds with
something like, I m fine, then you know she is almost never actually fine. One way to detect that
this response may be deceiving is to observe body language clues such as crossed arms, pursed
lips, an impassive voice, a lack of eye contact, or flared nostrils. Michele Zinman, a 44 year old
marriage counselor, said, Many arguments between couples stem from misunderstanding because
many women expect

Protein Absorbability Lab Report
The absorbance spectrum of the protein samples were measured between the range of 400 to
700nm and the heme absorption was found to be at 409nm. Following Figure 1, as we increase the
[GuHCl], the absorbance band at 409nm decreases in intensity. This illustrates that proteinis
unfolding. Ergo, a two state model is establish between the folded and unfolded state of myoglobin.
And by applying Equation (1), it allows us to estimate the structural stability of the protein under
these conditions through the equilibrium that has been established.

Further, since the conformational state of myoglobin can be describe in a two state thermodynamic
model that leads to an equilibrium, it is possible to describe the transition in terms of пЃ„G as a
function of the denaturing agent concentration, as shown in the second plot of Figure 2. In addition,
the formulation of a linear perturbation plot permits us to calculate for the пЃ„Gounfolding of
myoglobin in the absence of GuHCl, which was found to be +33.6 kJ/mol as seen in Table 1.
On the other hand, the second section of the experiment involves the usage of different
concentration of the magic buffer solution, which acts as the denaturing agent for the protein. As
illustrated in Figure 3, the absorbance intensity at 409nm was plotted as a function of pH of the
protein solution. Furthermore, this plot demonstrates that myoglobin is unfolded at lower pH.
Consider at lower pH values, it seems that higher buffer concentration the protein is more unfolded
because the absorbance intensity is lower than at 0.010 M buffer concentration, as shown in Figure
3. This illustrates that the magic buffer mixture is an effective denaturing agent as the
concentration of the solution

  • 2. Romeo And Juliet Destructive Love William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet ...is deliberately about young love as stated by Noah Berlatsky. He is indeed correct, as the entire play is about the two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, and the actions they take to be together. However, is the drama about love overall, or is it truly about the destructive forces of love? Throughout the plot, the forbidden love between the two lovers cause this tragedy to become even more tragic by ruining family relationships with distrust ,thus resu lting in unnecessary deaths. Near the end of the drama, when Capulet decides that Juliet is going to marry Paris, Juliet becomes angry ,owing to her love for Romeo not Paris. When Juliet argues about the situation, I pray you tell my lord and father, madam,/ I will not marry yet; and when I do, I swear/ It shall be Romeo, whom you know I hate/ Rather than Paris. (3.5.121 4) , her father snarls back at Juliet divulging, ... get thee to church a Thursday/ or never after look me in the face (3.5.162 3). Capulet blusters to disavow Juliet if she does not marry Paris. This is one example of the destructive forces of love. The love that Juliet has for Romeo overrules the part of her that obeys her father , thus causing calamity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This distrust noticeably began in Act II, when Juliet discovers that Romeo is a Montague. She says to herself, That I must love a loathГЁd enemy (2.5.141). She says must , although, she does not have to love a loathГЁd enemy. She made the decision herself to love her enemy and, eventually, covertly marry him, no one is forcing her to do any of this. This creates a sense of distrust because Juliet purposely defies her parents. She knows that they would not want her to marry a Montague, but she does anyway, and eventually, they find out about her betrayal. Her love for Romeo caused her to disobey her ... All three pizza ovens are set to 550 degrees and, and all three fryers are set to 400 degrees. In the summer the temperature can reach over 100 degrees in the pizza shop. Working an 8 hour shift in these temperatures can be a grueling experience. The heatin the shop matched with the buffet and non stop pizzaorder phone calls make it even worse. I remember the first time working a long shift when I started working at Sam s. It was harder than I would have ever imagined. The heat really affected my ability to work efficiently. After a few hours I could tell I wasn t working as hard as I was at the beginning of my shift. Working tired and hungry in that heat really drained a lot of my energy. It made it hard to communicate effectively and be nice while talking to costumers. I m not the only one who has had bad long shift experiences. A new 16 year old employee who started working at Sam s pizza in August didn t have the best experience on his first day at the job. The employee worked a six hour shift and about five hours in he passed out while he was rolling pizza dough. He was completely fine after about five minutes. We gave him water, and he was back to work right away. He told us the reason he passed out was because he had an anxiety attack. It was extremely hot that day, and I think the heat played a big role in making him pass out. I ve been working at Sam s pizza for 2 years, and know how extremely hot ... When it comes to shows on television today, many of the series that air aren t anything to go crazy over, yet this definitely isn t the case for creator Vince Gilligan s, Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad follows the life of Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston), an ordinary high school chemistry teacher. With a loving wife and teenage son at home, over time, Walter has formed an exceedingly mundane routine for his life. After soon discovering that he had been diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer, Walter decided to take extreme measures in order to secure his family financially: he would descend into a world so dark and so utterly twisted, that it would eventually consume him. From Outstanding Lead Actor to Outstanding Supporting Actress the dozens of awards the series crew was able to wrack up serves as a clear indicator that Vince Gilligan did a noteworthy job of selecting a first rate line of actors and actresses. By doing so, he was able to successfully execute the vision he sought out for Breaking Bad. As viewers watch addicting episode after addicting episode, the show progresses to straddle a line of reality and, Is that really happening? With countless events occurring within the series that appear to be too grotesque or twisted to even be possible, viewers must keep in mind that many of the tactful operations Breaking Bad s protagonist executed were backed with science. In aims to retain a factor of realistic science throughout the series, Gilligan employed several science advisers. These advisers aided writers in implementing accurate scientific terminology in their scripts, assisted set builders in creating functional laboratories for meth cooking, and guided Gilligan as he built his storyline to weasel Walter and Jesse out of trouble by utilizing science. Although some scenes had a tendency to exaggerate the discipline for dramatic purposes, a baseline of science is always discernible. Breaking Bad s ability to exploit the field of science by dissolving human bodies in acid, inducing unexplainable death through ricin administration, and employing phosphine gas to kill off drug dealers, are realistic ... • 7. Jazz Music The Beginning The word jazz did not become commonplace until around 1920 even though it had spent the preceding decade establishing itself as a musical genre. A mix of European harmony and African rhythm, blended with the current styles of the time such as ragtime and rhythm and blues, Jazz can be seen as an amalgamation of different cultures and has had huge influences on, and evolved concurrently with, American society in the past century. The birthplace of jazz is the subject of much more controversy than its undoubted influence on society. The most commonly reported and, in my view, logical birthplace of jazz is New Orleans. The Great Depression that followed was the worst crisis in America since the Civil War. As the 1930s began, one out of every four wage earners more than 15 million men and women was without work. (Burns, online). Burns goes on to observe that hard times hit black America hardest. In some northern cities, six out of 10 African American workers lost their jobs. Like many industries in The Great Depression, the music industry struggled for survival. American record companies, which were selling more than 100 million records a year throughout the twenties, had now dropped to just six million. (Burns, online). With this struggle and misery ever so present, people began to look to music as an emotional escape. Musicians needed to play it and the rest of society needed to hear it. The Depression meant that millions of people all over America would now be exposed to the sounds of all kinds of music played by all kinds of people for free. As Burns explains, jazz, which had always thrived in adversity and come to symbolize a certain kind of American freedom, would be called upon to lift the spirits and raise the morale of a frightened country. And in the process, it would begin to break down the barriers that had separated Americans from each other for centuries. In the mid 1930s, as the Great Depression stubbornly refused to lift, jazz came as close as it has ever come to being America s popular music. (Burns, online). Now labeled Swing it was a shining ... I was inspired because I knew how tough it was to adjust to a new school system when one is swamped with many assignments. Although I had gone through a couple of training sessions at the beginning of the semester, I didn t know what to expect for my first tutoring session. My first session was with a girl named Jamie. Jamie was having problems solving logarithmic equations. I started by taking a look at her notes from class and it seemed like the professor went over a few problems in class. As a result, Jamie was having difficulty with solving questions unlike what had been solved in class. These were problems I had gone through last year so I knew how to explain the concept to her. Whomever you re mentoring should receive information that is both positive and negative. You want to makes sure you give pros and cons so that your mentee can learn from them. (Patterson) Some social activities that you can do in mentoring programs include talking about life experiences, having lunch together, and visiting the mentor s home for a bonding experience. (Wexler) Although most mentoring programs usually have short durations and are claimed to be a waste of money, they are beneficial to girls because they prevent peer pressure, diseases, and pregnancies; encourage girls to be more mannerable, respectful, and ladylike; and results in kids being more likely to graduate high school and attend college. Since it has no fixed definition within the article, Foner views freedom as a concept and states by its very nature is the subject of disagreement (xiv). People s worldview can help shape what freedom means to them and it may limit what freedom means to others. This approach is a way to miss and dismiss the point of Blacks actually discussing the critical state their community is in. The focus is not black lives over other s lives in the world, but is it the focus of the neglect of black lives, when taken away, they are not viewed with disgust as when their white counterparts die/are harassed in the same manner. It s weirdly interesting that when Blacks are literally killed for following the law and are unarmed, they are blamed for their own death, all because a cop feared for their life. Once officers say that phrase, which I view as a clichГ© to say when one signs up for such a fearful job, cases are usually wrapped up and forgotten about. However, thanks to social media, the public is able to see the hideous lies and blatant truth about certain cases that highlight why the people have a problem with the government and distrust the police. Oddly as all Americans are forced to pay taxes, these taxes go to public necessities like schools, to fire stations and to the police station, even to wars. For example, an older person who was hard to get along with is more likely to lack support than the cheerful old person who gets along well with family and neighbours (Peil, 1991). All these are important variables, which determine whether individuals will receive adequate care and support from family and society. It is evident from the various literature that, very little attention has been paid to older people of modern industrializing societies of the world. In Nigeria for example, as well as in most developing countries, the need to plan for the welfare of older persons has received very little attention. There are clear evidences of lack of formal social support services for older people in Nigeria, such as Social Securiy, Pension, Health Insurance Scheme, Old Peoples Home, etc. One of the explanatory factors arises from the belief that the existing extended family system generally protects and provides for the welfare of old people in rural and agricultural societies. Hence, where an older person is childless, his/her brothers or sisters or even the children of his siblings are believed to be responsible for his/her maintenance. This may not be unconnected with why most policies, programmes and projects in the developing countries such as Nigeria have been concentrated on the children and the youths at the expense of older persons in the country. They were all given a number, which was usually tattooed on their wrists with sharp metal stamps . After this, their heads were shaved, and prisoners were told that this was to prevent lice. Prisoners then received a black and white striped uniform, with an identification emblem sewn on to the upper left side of their shirts and jackets. These badges were colored inverted triangles, used to let officers know what offense the prisoners were placed in the camp for. Immigrants triangles were blue, criminals were green, homosexuals were pink, political prisoners were red, gypsies were brown, and Jehovah s Witnesses were purple. Jewish people had to wear a yellow Star of David instead of an identification triangle, but if they were charged on more than one offense, they would be made to wear a yellow triangle with a colored inverted triangle on top of it, forming the Star of David, but also showing the other offense through the color coded... With the king s arrival there would be beats of drums following the announcement of his arrival. Also for gatherings the king would have musicians play when desired. Music was considered be something that help mend the pain, something that could feel the empty void slaves had, something that could only express with their tears could no longer do. Music had many roles in African Americanculture, from someone getting married to just singing about your daily life. They also used music for communication which was called the call and response. Call and response is when you have one person who is the soloist sing some thing and then there is a corresponding voice or voices who then echoes the soloist. Another form of communication the slaves had were drums, until they were banned because white slave masters began to get paranoid about a slave riot. Early African American culture brought their culture where ever they traveled while they were slaves. This lead to the reason why Caucasian slave masters tried to limit the expression of what the African Americans could do. To many Caucasian people during this time had various opinions about how this type of behavior is so far from the norm. Early African American people used to use music to escape the threshold of slavery. They would do this for various occasions such as marriage, death, birth and puberty. • 20. The American Dream in Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller The struggle for financial security and success has always been prominent in the American culture. The idea of the American dream captures the hearts of so many, yet leaves almost all of them enslaved in the endless economic struggle to achieve high status, wealth, and a house with a white picket fence. In Arthur Miller s, Death of a Salesman, we see how difficult it is for Willy Loman and his sons to achieve this so called American dream. In Lorraine Hansberry s, A Raisin in the Sun, she examines an African American family s struggle to break out of the poverty that is preventing them from achieving some sort of financial stability, or in other words the American dream. These quotes exemplify the idea that believing you deserve better than you currently have is a powerful force that encourages the struggle for the American dream. A final major similarity between the two plays is the fact that both of the men face prejudice for things that they cannot control. For Walter, a prejudice exists because of his skin color. He dreams of having the same opportunities as the white men and in this quote he expresses that to his mother Mama sometimes when I m downtown, I pass them cool quiet looking restaurants where them white boys are sitting back and talking bout things...sitting there turning deals worth millions of dollars (Hansberry pg. 74). Death of a Salesman only features white characters, however, a different type of prejudice is shown in the play. Determinants for elasticity of demand would include the substitutability of a good, proportion of a consumer s income spent on a good, the nature of the necessity of a good and the time a purchase is under consideration by the consumer. Furthermore, elasticity of demand is calculated with this formula: Ed = percentage change in quantity demanded of product X percentage change in price of product X When price elasticity of demand is elastic, the coefficient will be greater than one. When a percent price change occurs quantity demanded responds strongly there will be a large change in quantities consumers purchase. There is price sensitive in this scenario. If price elasticity of demanded is inelastic the coefficient will be less than one. When a percent price change occurs quantity demanded does not respond strongly then there is a slight change in quantities consumers will purchase. There a weak price sensitive in this scenario. Lastly, if price elasticity of demanded is unit elastic the coefficient will be equal to one. • 22. Desmin As A Type IIi Intermediate Filament Protein Desmin: Its Role in Desminopathy Introduction Desmin is a type III intermediate filament protein that is muscle specific and is found in all muscle types: smooth, cardiac, and skeletal. Autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive desmin gene mutations affect desmin (DES) and oftentimes О±ОІ crystallin (CRYAB), a chaperone for DES, which leads to a type myofibrillar myopathy, known as desminopathy (Goldfarb et al., 2010). Desmin is the most abundant IF protein in striated and smooth muscle cells and is one of the earliest markers of muscle development (Clemen et al., 2012). Desmin filaments are mainly located at the periphery of Z disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle cells, and they have been thought to play a major role in the maintenance of structural and mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissues (Paulin Li, 2004). A dysfunctional desmin protein cannot properly interact with Z discs, leading to abnormalities of sarcomere structure and problems with the formation of myofibrils (NIH, 2016). The resulting pathology, desminopathy, is one of the most common intermediate filament human disorders associated with mutations in closely interacting proteins (Goldfarb Dalakas, 2009). This condition is defined as skeletal and cardiac myopathy characterized by the presence of chimeric aggregates in muscle fiber areas that consist of DES, CRYAB and other proteins (Goldfarb et al., 2010). The full costs of a stadium and the damage it does to communities are often years in the future, long after the politician is known for being the hero that save our local team and has moved on to bigger and better things, now with the campaign funding of the very teams that they built homes for and the fans who continue to pay. • 37. The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Hospitalization Healthcare is an issue that affects people all around the world. Many countries have adopted different perspectives on how to solve this problem. Two of the main solutions to the healthcare problem are a free market healthcare system or a national healthcare system. Both of these positions have positive and negative attributes that come into play when they are compared with one another. These systems create an environment where the majority of people receive healthcare but in different ways. Healthcare is something that allows people to use hospitals and other facilities at a reduced cost. This enables people to get check ups and immunizations without paying for the full cost of the visit. In the case where hospitalization occurs healthcare covers a large portion of the costs to stay in the hospital and the procedures that you may undergo while you are in the hospital. Healthcare becomes very important to individuals all around the world with the price of hospitals and other facilities rising. This rise in prices is making it hard for people to get the appropriate care they need without having insurance companies pay for part of the expenses. A national healthcare system, also called universal healthcare, is one where every citizen is provided with some healthcare coverage whether it be from the government or private industries. Some, but not all, of national healthcare systems are single payer healthcare systems. A single payer healthcare system is where one agency, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They also conduct interviews, examine records, observe the activity of suspects, along with participating in raids and arrests. To make it easier, they usually break it down so they re able to either specialize in investigating a certain type of crime, most likely homicide or fraud. There are no universal rules to producing vodka, but the final product is supposed to be odorless, colorless and tasteless. Distillers like to leave their mark, though, so they tend to leave in at least some flavor so you know you re drinking their vodka. Today, we ll be looking at The power of one , by Bryce Courtenay. This is an American drama film, set in South Africa in times of apartheid in World War 2. It s the story of a 6 year old boy named Peter Philip Kennith Keith , or better known as Peekay , who struggles against the difficulties of racism, Apartheid and displays how even the power of only one, can change a nation. The plot within the film is quite easy to follow, staying relatively faithful to the book at the beginning, but loses track towards the end. However, there are times where major differences and variations occur between the two, which doesn t contribute to the film being as believable as the novel. Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB. Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. A fifth pyrimidine base, called uracil (U), usually takes the place of thymine in RNA and differs from thymine by lacking a methyl group on its ring. If we only had one central repository of DNA, it would take a long time for a protein to be made. We d have to make it far in advance of needing it, so we wouldn t be able to quickly respond to new situations. Imagine if you were out hunting, and suddenly, a wolf appeared at your side. If you were slow at making proteins because you had one central repository of DNA, the wolf would probably get to you before you could respond safely. Also, regulation of proteins occurs at the level of DNA as well as on other levels. In some cells, certain sections of DNA are bundled tight in a mass of proteins, in such a way that no RNA (and thus no protein) can be made from them. This turns off those genes. In other sections, only a few proteins might be keeping the DNA turned off, so that it could quickly be unravelled and used to make proteins. This decreases the chance of harmful mutations killing the entire body, as well. Right now, you have redundancy many copies of heart cells, each with a full set of DNA. Now imagine that something goes wrong with one of those cells. It can safely suicide , and the other cells will replace it. If we had one central set of DNA, if anything ever went wrong ... Cell Signaling Essay Cell signaling in the central nervous system refers to the communication that occurs in cells to coordinate* cell actions, as the cells receive and respond to other cells to help with many functions in the body, from immunity to development to growth. Cell signaling begins at the axon of the cell, which is the long fiber part of a nerve cell where electrical impulses are conducted and sent from the cell body through the axon to other cells. At the axon the action potential (define short term change in the electrical potential on the surface of a cell (e.g. a nerve cell or muscle cell) in response to stimulation, and then leads to the transmission of an electrical impulse (nerve impulse) that travels across the cell membrane.) is conducted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The voltage dependent sodium and potassium channels are closed. A stimulus would then cause the voltage dependent sodium channels in the neuron s membrane to open, causing the Na+ ions that were outside the membrane to rush into the cell. This would cause the cell to become more positive. If the signal is strong enough to cause the voltage to reach a threshold, in which the positive charge reaches somewhere between 40 and 55 mV, it causes a depolairsation as the cell s charge is a reverse due to it being more positively charged while the outside of the cell, lacking in Na+, becomes negatively charged. The depolarization triggers the sodium channels to close, and the voltage dependent potassium channels to open, causing K+ to move out of the cell to reduce the concentration gradient**. This is the repolarisation stage, as the inside of the cell becomes more negative as the K+ ions leave the cell. The neuron is then hyperpolarised when there are more K+ on the outside than Na+ in the inside of the cell, meaning the cell has a more negative charge than the outside of the cell. This causes the cell s potential to be slightly lower than its initial resting potential. This is the last stage of an action potential, after which there is a refractory (resting) period until which the cell returns to its resting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The other day I was watching a film that promoted a similar theme to what I am trying to convey. The production was called In Time starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried. Basically instead of money people were paid in time that they had left to live. In the movie we see a huge disparity in how different people live based on how much time they had. The important figures in their society used the time they had to manipulate everyone else because they could afford to give some away. This represents how money is influential in today s culture. Through outlets like social media, advertisements, and important public figures having money is portrayed as being paramount. With a few simple suggestions, your perspective on the notoriously complicated world of women will change completely. Rather than continuing to be confused, you will soon realize that women, people who may be thought to be initially confusing, are actually understandable. In order to understand women, all that it takes is a little patience, communication, and sensitivity on the other s behalf. By reminding yourself of the need for each skill, you will be speaking the language of women in no time! In the beginning, it may be difficult to understand said language because some claims that women make have an alternate meaning. Although they may say one thing, they may actually mean another. Some claims may be deceiving, and it is for this very reason that patience is key to a healthy understanding of women. While men are known to make direct requests, women are infamous for hinting rather than outright stating. If a woman is clearly upset but responds with something like, I m fine, then you know she is almost never actually fine. One way to detect that this response may be deceiving is to observe body language clues such as crossed arms, pursed lips, an impassive voice, a lack of eye contact, or flared nostrils.
