1. 3D Printed Phone Case
1. Obtain the Dimensions of your phone (typically available on
Google). Here are some to get started. For my Makerbot
Replicator 2, I add .3 mm for tolerances. You’ll need to
figure out what works best for you and your machine, but
that’s a starting point.

2. Sketch out the length & width of your inner dimensions, and
round the corners.
a. Importing a Canvas of the front of the phone
b. Make sure your arcs are tangent (constraints in the
sketch pallete), and use 2 Mirrors to ensure they are
standard on all four corners.
c. You can also Trim the corner lines around the arcs to
leave a nice rounded shape
3. Press Pull the body out symmetrically to the desired height.
4. Modify>Shell the body Outside 2mm.
5. Create Sketch on the top of the shelled sides and use Offset
to create a 2mm lip to hold in the phone. Draw a line down
the side (see figure) around where the arc ends and mirror.
a. Press pull side profiles from step 5 sketch out 2mm
and Join.

2. 6. Press Pull JUST the bottom (not the top, that was a mistake
in the video) profile of step 5 sketch to cut away the material
and reduce the rigidity of the phone.
7. Modify>Fillet the top and bottom inside edges to .75mm
8. Sketch openings for buttons along the sides and bottom.
Using the Canvas MAY NOT lead to accurate openings, it’s
good to use actual dimensions from online.
9. Be Creative! Customize the Back by creating a sketch (on the
bottom if you want it to read properly) and Press Pulling
through the body.

3. 10. Customize the sides in sculpt
a. Start Sculpt
b. Modify>Convert top face (or any face but the
bottom, keep that flat)
c. Modify>Edit Form and select lines/faces/vertexes to
move/scale/rotate using the Grab Handles
11. Save
12. Make and select the body, then Save as STL and send it to 3D
hubs for printing!

gears and other cool components! Try the Add Gear Script, under
Add Ins>Spur Gear.
