Study of Published Articles on Management Accounting in Brazil and Spaindbpublications
Abstract: In recent decades, management accounting has undergone major changes with the inclusion of new topics
and research methods, dedicated journals, and especially multidisciplinary studies. These changes have been detected
in articles published in leading journals. In this context, the following research question arises: what is the profile of
management accounting research in Spain and Brazil? Thus, the objective of this study is to identify and analyze the
topics and research methods applied in management accounting studies in Spain and Brazil; to explain how these
studies are important to further developing the field of management accounting; and to compare them with studies
conducted by Hesford, Lee, Van Der Stede, and Young (2007) with respect to articles published in English-language
journals. We first selected seven Spanish accounting journals listed in the IN-RECS database (Índice de Impacto de
Revistas Españolas de Ciencias Sociales) [Impact Factor of Spanish Social Science Journals] and found 421 articles
published between 2001 and 2010. Second, we found 321 articles by selecting 29 Brazilian accounting, administration,
management, finance, and business journals evaluated by Brazilian Federal Agency for the Support and Evaluation of
Graduate Education (CAPES – Coordenação de Aperfeiçcoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior). The results show
that management accounting studies have not figured prominently in the articles that were reviewed. Planning and
control are among the most important subjects that emphasize performance measurement and evaluation. The existing
studies are largely focused on case studies and surveys in Brazil as well as case studies and reviews in Spain.
This edition presents articles based on qualitative and quantitative research that would hopefully enrich the reader’s experience. The section Perspective presents reflections of Roberto Patrus on “Social inequality and graduate studies in business Administration in Brazil: The role of evaluations,” and of Edson Guarido on “Social inequality, responsibility and responsiveness of research”. This issue concludes with a book review by Dennys Eduardo Rossetto and Felipe Mendes Borini on Jugaad innovation: Think frugal, be flexible, generate breakthrough growth, written by Navi Radjou, Jaideep Prabhu and Simone Ahuja; a book review by Reid Hoffman, Ben Casnocha and Chris Yeh on La alianza: Cómo gestionar el talento en la era de internet, written by María Carmen Sánchez-Sellero and Pedro Sánchez-Sellero; and the book recommendations “Cultural perspectives on the financial control of the economy and of the organizations” by Silvio Eduardo Alvarez Candido and “Epistemology of Management science” by Pedro Jaime.

Application of entrepreneurship in small businesses.pdfKathryn Patel
This document summarizes a study on the application of entrepreneurship in small businesses. The study involved conducting interviews with 35 entrepreneurs at a popular trade market in Palmas, Tocantins, Brazil. The results found that most entrepreneurs were male, married, had completed high school education, and were between 21-40 years old. The entrepreneurs were generally satisfied with their businesses and were aware of support agencies available for small businesses. The study concluded that applying entrepreneurship as a business strategy can generate positive results for small businesses.

The End of Business as Usual: Rewire the Way You Work to Succeed in the Consu...Brian Solis
A book review by Michael B. Pasco, Professor, Graduate School of Business, San Beda University, Philippines.
It is amazing that Solis foresaw the need for digitalization strategies and alarmed different companies before the great requirement occurred during and after the pandemic. Today, we observe the future of business as being affected by developments in information, as he portrayed.
The reader of the book gains an awareness of the predicted conditions that made them calm, composed, and in control of their activities during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. One can learn more business and management techniques from this book.
I experienced to achieve organizational heights instead of firm’s losses because of the readiness, and the processes that Solis guided.
More efficient marketing investments and inter-organizational communication were improved faster, leading to normal business as usual.
While he elaborated different frameworks to justify his arguments, there are a lot of scenarios that the business communities are now aware of to validate his principles and recommendations in the book.
Furthermore, readers can learn that the structure, technologies, and infrastructure needed to adapt to the new normal are mandatory.
Business, management, and academic communities should read this book and evaluate the fulfillment and the gaps between the premises. These efforts will drive the implementation and advancements of different digitalization business models to prevail in the new normal.

This document summarizes a study that examined the interrelationships between project management, organizational sustainability, and knowledge management. The study conducted a systematic review of literature on these topics in the Scopus database. The review resulted in 70 publications being identified. Charts in the results section show the concentration areas and yearly distribution of publications. The concluding remarks indicate that knowledge management and project management with a focus on sustainability can provide competitive advantages and that understanding the relationships between these topics is important for continuous organizational improvement.
The document presents a conceptual model for selecting the country in which to locate a new international R&D unit. It discusses factors that influence R&D decentralization and internationalization. These include resources like qualified human capital and competitive advantages such as lower costs. The model groups key factors into three dimensions: market characteristics in each country, available R&D inputs, and country profiles. It applies this model to SAP's decision to locate a new R&D unit in Brazil over other Latin American countries like Argentina, Mexico, and Chile. The results demonstrated the utility of the conceptual framework for international R&D site selection decisions.
The Portuguese startup ecosystem has evolved positively over the last decade but there is still work to be done to reach its full potential. Experts see strengths in Portugal's specialized talent, ability to attract foreign talent due to its quality of life and geographic location. However, weaknesses include a lack of scaleups and need for more capital investment. Opportunities exist in positioning Portugal as an international hub in areas like ocean economy, sustainability, life sciences and reinforcing fintech. Threats include global market uncertainty and bureaucracy that needs reducing through regulatory and tax reforms. Experts want Portugal to define strategic innovation areas and promote itself internationally to attract more talent and investors.
This edition is composed of the following papers: “Blindness to sponsor: Application to sports event posters” by Manuel Alonso dos Santos, Ferran Calabuig Moreno, and
Manuel Jesús Sánchez-Franco; “New trends in corporate reporting: Information on carbon footprint in Spain” by Carmen Raquel Córdova, Ana Zorio-Grima, and María García-Benau; “Diversity of the board and capital structure” by Edelcio Koitiro Nisiyama and Wilson Toshiro Nakamura; and “The importance of brand attachment for adherence to causes of corporate social responsibility” by Annaysa Salvador
Muniz Kamiya, José Mauro da Costa Hernandez, Agnne Karoline S. Xavier, and Débora Beserra Ramos.
This study examines how the interaction between a supervisor's leadership style and use of humor impacts interns' attitudes and behaviors. The researchers hypothesized that supervisor humor moderates the relationship between leadership styles (transformational and laissez-faire) and intern outcomes such as satisfaction, stress, negligence, and job acceptance intentions. Using a sample of 164 interns surveyed in two waves, they found humor needs to align with leadership style to predict interns' responses. Affiliative humor interacted differently with styles than aggressive humor. The findings suggest humor should be tailored to leadership style to effectively promote positive attitudes and behaviors in interns.
Corporate Innovation & Digital Transformation: Innovation PortfolioJohnny Ordóñez
This document discusses corporate innovation and digital transformation. It begins by defining innovation as the process of transforming hypotheses into customer-centric solutions. It then addresses common challenges with innovation initiatives such as innovation labs failing due to a lack of viable business models and disconnects from company strategy. The document advocates applying lean startup principles through experimentation and iteration to successfully scale innovation across an organization. It emphasizes aligning innovation efforts with strategic themes using an innovation portfolio approach.

This document advertises a two-day workshop called "Transform Yourself & Business" hosted by the Centre for the Experience Economy. The workshop will help participants understand innovations, societal changes, and the psychology of experiences to reshape business value and create meaningful value propositions. Participants will learn experience technologies, customer journey mapping, and business model innovation. The goal is to make organizations more fit and future-proof to address disruptions in a rapidly changing economic landscape.
Following the pluralist approach of the RAE, this edition has articles from different areas of study (Marketing, Finance, People Management, Organizational Studies, Entrepreneurship, Operations and Logistics), in addition to the Perspective section, in which Sandro Cabral and Marcelo de Souza Bispo discuss the theme “Challenges in reviewing scientific articles on Administration in Brazil”.
This document reviews benchmarks for assessing the performance of business incubators. It analyzes 136 studies on business incubator evaluation and identifies key performance indicators and relevant benchmarks. The study creates a final list of 33 benchmarks by taking the most prominent benchmarking studies as a basis. This provides a comprehensive aggregated framework of benchmarks to make business incubator assessment easier for managers and policymakers.
Yusful consultancy: social entrepreneurship promotion for social developmentJulen Etxebeste
The document discusses methods for promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in developing areas. It states that most people in developing areas need self-employment, and that economic growth depends on entrepreneurs. However, lack of knowledge and focus on innovation means businesses remain small and low value. The document proposes that entrepreneurs need support and training to have more successful and higher value initiatives. It introduces YUSFUL Consultancy, which develops methodologies to support entrepreneurship training and business development in ways that are appropriate for local contexts. YUSFUL aims to add value, empower people, and make support approaches real.
The PhD proposal examines the relationship between intellectual capital (human capital, structural capital, and relational capital) and financial and non-financial performance in the hotel industry in the English-speaking Caribbean. The motivation is that small Caribbean companies must now compete globally and need information on deploying resources competitively. The study aims to explore this relationship and develop an intellectual capital evaluation model for hotel chains. It will investigate how intellectual capital can be evaluated and the optimal mix of components. Prior research on defining and measuring intellectual capital is discussed, but little has examined the hotel industry or developing countries.
- Clusters are formed by firms conducting similar activities where innovation is important for competition and growth.
- Porter's model describes relations between external factors like resources and economic environment, and internal factors like company strategies, market conditions, and related/supporting industries.
- Potential disadvantages of clusters include decreased flexibility for firms, lack of competition destroying need for updates, and difficulty assessing performance without outside comparisons.

Based on theoretical models, such as those proposed in the studies of McClelland and Spencer and Spencer over the last forty years, this study identifies entrepreneurs’ perception of the impact of the required skills of a job applicant in startups. It uses the snowball sampling technique and direct observation in incubators and accelerators to conduct a qualitative analysis. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the founders and managers of different impact ventures. From the analysis and discussion of this research, some of the skills required in startups are empathy, principles, ethical values, and other attributes of human nature. This study will be of practical value to job seekers, recruiters, and scholars as it suggests the skills that are required in the high-impact market, helping to develop better recruitment and training programs to their business
The Value of ISE - Main studies and investor perspectivesFGV Brazil
This study has been prepared with the aim of bringing together the main research lines that seek to identify and convey the value of participating in initiatives like the ISE BM&FBOVESPA (Corporate Sustainability Index). This document is structured on three major fronts. On the first front, we conducted a survey to collect the main data on Sustainable and Responsible Investments (SRI) trends in the two largest market niches: Europe and the United States, besides results from an MIT research study conducted among executives on the value of sustainability in the current market. Next, we carried out a non-exhaustive survey on academic studies that seek to identify the intangible and tangible gains achieved by companies through their participation in the ISE or related initiatives. Finally, we present the results of a survey done with major Brazilian pension funds aimed at investigating the knowledge of the ISE and how it could be used in their analysis and decision-making process.
