Session Panelists
Shahzad Ansari, University of Cambridge
Rodolphe Durand, HEC-Paris
Candace Jones, University of Edinburgh Business School
Michael Lounsbury, University of Alberta
Richard Whittington, University of Oxford
This session aims to spark conversations between scholars at the intersection of strategic management and organization theory. In particular, we hope the event will generate awareness of, stimulate interest in, and set direction for research at the SM-OT interface. Especially, the panelists will address potential connections between perennial strategy topics such as resources, capabilities, innovation, competition, governance, nonmarket strategy and strategy process and practice and topics of central interest to organization theory such as institutional logics, organizational forms, legitimacy, creativity, framing and categories. Panellist will identify the most promising questions that could benefit from integrating strategy and organizational theory concepts as well as discussing possible challenges of such a theoretical bricolage.
IMPLEMENTATION OF A KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PROCESS WITHIN THE BRAZILIAN ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT: THE ONS (NATIONAL OPERATOR OF THE
INTERCONNECTED POWER SYSTEM) EXPERIENCE - Rivadávia Alvarenga Neto et al., 2009.
Within the pluralistic approach of RAE, this edition presents articles from different areas of knowledge (Marketing, Finance, People Management, Organizational Studies, Entrepreneurship, Operations, and Logistics), as well as the Perspective section, in which Eduardo H. Diniz and Fábio Frezatti discuss the theme plagiarism in the Business Administration academic context. This issue is complemented by the review of the books Avaliação econômica de projetos sociais, by Naercio Menezes Filho, and Cultura do consumo: Fundamentos e formas contemporâneas by Isleide Arruda Fontenelle, and the book recommendation Governance & charity: The benefits of corporate governance and charity association by Grazielle Rigotti da Silva.

This issue includes three unconventional articles in the marketing field resulting from a partnership with two events: the “International Social Networks Conference” (Isonec) held at Fundação Getulio Vargas, School of Business Administration of São Paulo (FGV EAESP), and organized by Professor Eliane Pereira Zamith Brito; and the “Marketing Meeting” (EMA) organized by the National Association of Postgraduation and Research in Administration (ANPAD).

Presented at ASEM's (American Society of Engineering Management) annual conference in October 2014. It's based on work done at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyards.
Following the pluralist approach of the RAE, this edition has articles from different areas of study (Marketing, Finance, People Management, Organizational Studies, Entrepreneurship, Operations and Logistics), in addition to the Perspective section, in which Sandro Cabral and Marcelo de Souza Bispo discuss the theme “Challenges in reviewing scientific articles on Administration in Brazil”.
In this white paper, we report on a survey of marketing and PR staff from colleges and universities, identifying challenges and issues for 2009, ones that they were anticipating in November and December 2010.
The Aymara population constitutes the main social and cultural identity of the Arica and Parinacota Region in Chile and for more than five decades has continued to face a series of local difficulties due to globalization, technological change and a neoliberal market economy with little government support. Numerous villages in the Andean foothills and high plateau continue to live in conditions of poverty. However, collective leadership has proven to be an innovative tool to address various market failures and institutional barriers that hinder their social and economic development at the territorial level. This digital book analyzes the main theoretical and practical postulates for collective strategies led by indigenous communities to be effectively developed in their cultural and territorial context.
“The fact is, culture eats strategy for lunch. You can have a good strategy in place, but if you don’t have the culture and the enabling systems that allow you to successfully implement that strategy, the culture of the organization will defeat the strategy.” Richard Clark, CEO of Merck (2005 – 2010)
In a study conducted by Bain Consulting in 2008, 91% of the 1200 senior executives at global companies agreed that “culture is as important as strategy for business success”. It further revealed that 81% of executives agreed that “a company without a winning culture was doomed to mediocrity.” In a more recent study by Booz and Company in 2013 , 96% of the 2200 respondents agreed that “culture change is needed in their organisation” while 51% agree “that their culture needs a major overhaul”.
These are startling numbers. If organisational culture is so important, why is it not one of the top items on the agenda?
In the second of this 6 part Change Management series, we outlined the importance of communicating your change and actively engaging your stakeholders.
In this article, we discuss the importance of designing and building a culture that supports your vision.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
