7. Employer’s Responsibilities
Your employer has a responsibility for your safety by:
• Developing safe work procedures.
• Providing sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision
• Providing a safe place of work, and safe access to it.
• Providing healthy working environment.
• Providing adequate welfare services.
• Ensuring that you are trained to use and wear Personal Protective
Equipment (PPE), as required by the task.
• Ensuring that employees act on instructions and advice given.

8. Employee’s Responsibilities
• Each employee is responsible for
ensuring that the work which he/she
undertakes is conducted in a manner
which is safe to himself or herself, other
members of the general public.

of his supervisor.
• Must be able to interpret safety signs
on site.
• If any employee considers that is exposed to risks and hazard, it is
his/her responsibility to report the matter to his/her supervisor.

9. How do I prevent risk?
Every engineer on site must use the right PPE at all times.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

against a risk to health and safety.

10. How do I prevent risk?
To avoid having an risk at work, engineer must:
1 . Follow all safety procedures (e.g. fit safety signs when isolating supplies
and screen off work areas from the general public);
2. Not misuse or interfere with equipment provided for health and safety;
3. Dress appropriately and use PPE when appropriate:
4. Behave appropriately and with care;
5. Avoid over-enthusiasm and foolishness;
6. stay alert and avoid fatigue;
7 . Do not use alcohol or drugs at work;
8. work within your level of competence;
9 . attend safety courses and read safety literature;
10. Take a positive decision to act and work safely.
