An infrastructure is a basic physical and organizational
structure that assists the progress of the operation of a
society or enterprise.Bridges are indispensable
infrastructures in the worlds cities and towns where
either waterways or land barriers prevents traffic
movements to the othe side , introducing significant
impact over that regions economics , politics ,culture ,
communication as well as national defence. Amoung
many other type of bridges,truss is a well known
bridge as it amalgamates multiple triangles to support
humangous loads.
They are widely used and are most common with road
traffic bridges due to their heavy load capabilities on
the other hand the actual roadway can be directly
placed on top in case of a truss bridge , which helps to
make it easily integrated into the construction process.
These types of bridges can be built across small or
long spans while maintaining their strength. the
momentous fact is that truss bridges are economical.

Ikutsuki Bridge:
Design: Continuous truss

(1,312.336 ft) Construction start:

The bridge allows automobile
access from Ikitsuki to Hirado
and the rest of Japan.
Previously, the only option to
travel off Ikitsuki was by ferry to
various ports in Kyūshū.
The Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge:
Traditional Chinese bridge.
Crosses the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
Construction of the bridge started in 2006 and it
was completed in 2010.
The bridge has two main spans of 336 m
(1,102 ft) it is one of the largest arch bridges in
the world.
It carries six tracks: two for the Beijing–
Shanghai High-Speed Railway. (opened on 30
June 2011).
Two for the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu high-
speed railway (opened on 22 January 2011) and
two for line S3 of the Nanjing Metro (opened on
6 December 2017).
The Francis Scott Key Bridge:
Also known originally as the Outer
Harbor Crossing (until renamed for
FSK in 1977) or simply as the Key
Bridge or Beltway Bridge, is
a steel arch-shaped continuous
through truss bridge spanning the
lower Patapsco River and
outer Baltimore Harbor /
Port in Baltimore, Maryland, United
States.
The main span of 1,200 feet (366 m)
is the third longest span of any
continuous truss in the world. It is
also the longest bridge in the
Baltimore metropolitan area.
Kuronoseto Bridge:

Kuronoseto is a strait between
the city of Akune and the
of Nagashima. The tide there
flows rapidly, sometimes
reaching a speed of 8 knots.
You can observe massive
whirlpools from the Uzushio
Observation Deck during a
spring tide.
The Taylor–Southgate Bridge
is a continuous truss bridge that
was built in 1995. It has a main
span of 850 feet (260 m), and a
total span of 1,850 feet (560 m).
The bridge carries U.S. Route
27 across the Ohio River,
connecting Newport,
Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Some regard this bridge, which was
a replacement for the Cincinnati-
Newport Bridge built by Samuel
Bigstaff,[2] as a little too plain in its
design for a major urban bridge,
especially considering many cities
today are opting for a more elegant
design, such as a cable stayed
bridge.
Braga bridge:
With a total span of
5,780 feet (1,760 m),
and standing 135 feet
(41 m) over high water
in the Taunton River,
the Braga Bridge easily
accommodates the
high-traffic shipping
lane in the river. It is
approximately 101 feet
(31 m) wide, enough
six lanes of traffic.
The Julien Dubuque bridge
is continuous steel-arched bridge
that carries US 20 over the
Mississippi River connecting
Dubuque, Iowa and East
Illinois. It was constructed in the
early 1940’s in part, to help
facilitate military transportation.
The bridge has an 845 foot main
arch span with solid I-shaped steel
deck hangers. This project
performing routine biennial
fracture critical inspection of the
truss members and deck hangers.
Rope access was used to gain
hands-on access to inspect the
bridge.

Yoshima Bridge is a truss bridge
which connects
Wasa Island and Yoshima Island.
The scale of the
Bridge is beyond the example in
the world as the
bridge for highway and railway.
The Howrah Bridge is a
balanced cantilever bridge over
the Hooghly River in West Bengal,
India. Commissioned in
1943,[9][11] the bridge was originally
named the New Howrah Bridge,
because it replaced a pontoon
bridge at the same location linking
the two cities
of Howrah and Kolkata (Calcutta).
On 14 June 1965, it was
renamed Rabindra Setu after the
great Bengali poet Rabindranath
Tagore, who was the first Indian
and Asian Nobel laureate.[11] It is
still popularly known as the Howrah
Bridge.
The bridge is one of four on
the Hooghly River and is a famous
symbol of Kolkata and West
Bengal.
The George Clinton Kingston–
Rhinecliff Bridge is a continuous
under-deck truss toll bridge
that carries NY 199 across the
Hudson River in New York State
north of the City of Kingston
and the hamlet of Rhinecliff. It
was opened to traffic on
February 2, 1957 as a two-lane
(one in each direction) bridge,
although it was not actually
complete. The formal opening
was May 11, 1957. The original
cost was $17.5 million.[1]

The Don N. Holt Bridge is a parallel
chord, three-span continuous, modified
Warren-type truss bridge that carries
Interstate 526 (I-526) over the Cooper
River between Charleston and North
Charleston. It was built in 1992 by the
South Carolina Department of
Transportation and was designed by

Sewickley Bridge:
The Sewickley Bridge is a steel
continuous truss bridge spanning the
Ohio River between Sewickley and Moon
Township, Pennsylvania, carrying State
Route 4025 and the Orange Belt. It was
built by American Bridge Company and
opened on October 21, 1981. Its center
span is 750 feet (230 m) long and the
spans are each 375 feet (114 m) long. The
bridge deck contains two vehicle lanes
and a pedestrian sidewalk. It crosses 73
feet (22 m) above the river. The bridge is
owned by the Pennsylvania Department
Transportation.
we have just came across through some of the
masterpiece desgined by civl engineers.This is just
a simple sketch of what a civil engineer is capable
of and how they are collaborately working in
creating a fesible world and enhance the global
quality of life . Although the role of a civil engineer in
our society is recondit by average citizens, civil
engineers continue to shape the quality of life in a
punctilious manner.

An infrastructure is a basic physical and organizational structure that assists the progress of the operation of a society or enterprise.Bridges are indispensable infrastructures in the worlds cities and towns where either waterways or land barriers prevents traffic movements to the othe side , introducing significant impact over that regions economics , politics ,culture , communication as well as national defence. Amoung many other type of bridges,truss is a well known bridge as it amalgamates multiple triangles to support humangous loads. They are widely used and are most common with road traffic bridges due to their heavy load capabilities on the other hand the actual roadway can be directly placed on top in case of a truss bridge , which helps to make it easily integrated into the construction process. These types of bridges can be built across small or long spans while maintaining their strength. the momentous fact is that truss bridges are economical.

Ikutsuki Bridge: Design: Continuous truss bridge Material: Steel Width: metres Height: 18 metres Longest span: 400 metres (1,312.336 ft) Construction start: 1983 Construction end: 1991 The bridge allows automobile access from Ikitsuki to Hirado and the rest of Japan. Previously, the only option to travel off Ikitsuki was by ferry to various ports in Kyūshū.
  • 7. The Dashengguan Yangtze River Bridge: Traditional Chinese bridge. Crosses the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Construction of the bridge started in 2006 and it was completed in 2010. The bridge has two main spans of 336 m (1,102 ft) it is one of the largest arch bridges in the world. It carries six tracks: two for the Beijing– Shanghai High-Speed Railway. (opened on 30 June 2011). Two for the Shanghai–Wuhan–Chengdu high- speed railway (opened on 22 January 2011) and two for line S3 of the Nanjing Metro (opened on 6 December 2017).

The Francis Scott Key Bridge: Also known originally as the Outer Harbor Crossing (until renamed for FSK in 1977) or simply as the Key Bridge or Beltway Bridge, is a steel arch-shaped continuous through truss bridge spanning the lower Patapsco River and outer Baltimore Harbor / Port in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. The main span of 1,200 feet (366 m) is the third longest span of any continuous truss in the world. It is also the longest bridge in the Baltimore metropolitan area.
  • 9. Kuronoseto Bridge: Bridge details Bridge name japanese Span : 300m Length: 502m(1,647ft) Opened: 1974 Location : kagoshima. Kuronoseto is a strait between the city of Akune and the of Nagashima. The tide there flows rapidly, sometimes reaching a speed of 8 knots. You can observe massive whirlpools from the Uzushio Observation Deck during a spring tide.
  • 10. The Taylor–Southgate Bridge is a continuous truss bridge that was built in 1995. It has a main span of 850 feet (260 m), and a total span of 1,850 feet (560 m). The bridge carries U.S. Route 27 across the Ohio River, connecting Newport, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio. Some regard this bridge, which was a replacement for the Cincinnati- Newport Bridge built by Samuel Bigstaff,[2] as a little too plain in its design for a major urban bridge, especially considering many cities today are opting for a more elegant design, such as a cable stayed bridge.
  • 11. Braga bridge: With a total span of 5,780 feet (1,760 m), and standing 135 feet (41 m) over high water in the Taunton River, the Braga Bridge easily accommodates the high-traffic shipping lane in the river. It is approximately 101 feet (31 m) wide, enough six lanes of traffic.
  • 12. The Julien Dubuque bridge is continuous steel-arched bridge that carries US 20 over the Mississippi River connecting Dubuque, Iowa and East Illinois. It was constructed in the early 1940’s in part, to help facilitate military transportation. The bridge has an 845 foot main arch span with solid I-shaped steel deck hangers. This project performing routine biennial fracture critical inspection of the truss members and deck hangers. Rope access was used to gain hands-on access to inspect the bridge.

Yoshima Bridge- Bridge Type: Truss bridge with two and three continuous spans Ground Breaking Ceremony: October 10, 1978 Commenced on-Site Construction: December 15, 1983 Opened to Traffic: April 10, 1988 Yoshima Bridge is a truss bridge which connects Wasa Island and Yoshima Island. The scale of the Bridge is beyond the example in the world as the bridge for highway and railway.
  • 14. The Howrah Bridge is a balanced cantilever bridge over the Hooghly River in West Bengal, India. Commissioned in 1943,[9][11] the bridge was originally named the New Howrah Bridge, because it replaced a pontoon bridge at the same location linking the two cities of Howrah and Kolkata (Calcutta). On 14 June 1965, it was renamed Rabindra Setu after the great Bengali poet Rabindranath Tagore, who was the first Indian and Asian Nobel laureate.[11] It is still popularly known as the Howrah Bridge. The bridge is one of four on the Hooghly River and is a famous symbol of Kolkata and West Bengal.

The George Clinton Kingston– Rhinecliff Bridge is a continuous under-deck truss toll bridge that carries NY 199 across the Hudson River in New York State north of the City of Kingston and the hamlet of Rhinecliff. It was opened to traffic on February 2, 1957 as a two-lane (one in each direction) bridge, although it was not actually complete. The formal opening was May 11, 1957. Holt Bridge is a parallel chord, three-span continuous, modified Warren-type truss bridge that carries Interstate 526 (I-526) over the Cooper River between Charleston and North Charleston. It was built in 1992 by the South Carolina Department of Transportation and was designed by HNTB Corporation. Sewickley Bridge: The Sewickley Bridge is a steel continuous truss bridge spanning the Ohio River between Sewickley and Moon Township, Pennsylvania, carrying State Route 4025 and the Orange Belt. It was built by American Bridge Company and opened on October 21, 1981. Its center span is 750 feet (230 m) long and the spans are each 375 feet (114 m) long. The bridge deck contains two vehicle lanes and a pedestrian sidewalk. It crosses 73 feet (22 m) above the river. The bridge is owned by the Pennsylvania Department Transportation.
