This document discusses tropical otolaryngology practices in sub-Saharan Africa. Some common diseases seen include rhinoscleroma, noma, and Burkitt's lymphoma. Rhinoscleroma is a chronic infection of the nose caused by Klebsiella that presents in three stages and is difficult to treat. Noma is a devastating gangrenous disease of the face seen in undernourished children and leads to severe tissue destruction. Burkitt's lymphoma has the highest incidence of childhood cancer in sub-Saharan Africa, usually presenting as a maxillary tumor.
