2.
3.
4. Environmental Impact -Not such a good impact -Cattle are fed corn (naturally are grass eaters) -Uses Styrofoam (Plastic 6: polystyrene) packaging -Doesn’t recycle everything that can be recycled
5. Economic Impact Made a profit past 3 years 2009: 9% increase Does McDonald’s work sustainably?
6. Social Impact How does McDonald’s impact its consumers? Nutritional Value: Not Very High McDonald’s continues to sell unhealthy food and the people are paying the price American people are facing one of their biggest problems: OBESITY!!!
7. Environmental Solutions Cattle should be fed grass and should be allowed to graze Instead of Styrofoam (Plastic 6), there are bioplastics (derived from plant starches and oils) that biodegrade that can be used for packaging Many waste materials that aren’t being recycled can be recycled
8. Economical Solutions Not very many solutions McDonald’s is doing pretty well in its profits and losses but if they tried harder to be more sustainable their budget might increase and it might be harder to make a profit
9. Social Solutions Healthier Options: Salads with oil and vinegar based dressing Grilled chicken (rather than fried) Whole wheat buns/bread Etc. Have Nutrition Facts present People can know what they are eating; if they knew, they might not want to eat it
Oil Recycling- reusing for biofuels, composting (vegetable oil), usage in homemade organic pest sprayBiodegradable utensils, cups (hot and cold), plates, and packaging, Solar Paneled roofs- uses renewable electricity instead of chemically manufactured electricity
They do sell healthier foods now, but they could still improve some of their other menu items.
(it can cause serious health problems for cows to be fed grain)(oil, compost, biodegradable packaging, recycled plastics)
