This document discusses trends in the use of technology in engineering education based on predictions from the Horizon Report between 2004-2009. It analyzes technologies that were predicted to have impact and groups them into categories like knowledge web, augmented reality, social interaction, ubiquity, educational games, and mobile devices. The document finds that while some predictions matched technologies that did impact education, such as intelligent search engines and social networks, other predictions like augmented reality being adopted between 2009-2011 did not fully come to pass. It concludes that combining predictions with feedback from educational technology projects helps develop a more accurate view of which technologies will impact engineering education in the near future.
