Trees are for birds.
Trees are for children.
Trees are to make tree houses in.
Trees are to swing swings on.
Trees are for the wind to blow through.
Trees are to hide behind in ‘Hide and Seek.’
Trees are to have tea parties under.
Trees are for kites to get caught in.
Trees are to make cool shade in summer.
Trees are to make no shade in winter.
Trees are for apples to grow on, and pears;
Trees are to chop down and call, “TIMBER-R-R!”
Trees make mothers say,
“What a lovely picture to paint!”
Trees make fathers say,
“What a lot of leaves to rake this fall !”

3. Trees are for birds. (Line-1)
EXPLANATION:
Home of thousands of birds.
The birds build nests on trees, lay eggs and nurture their younger ones.

4. Trees are for children. (Line-2)
EXPLANATION:
The same tree which provides home to bird also gives enough
enjoyment to children.

5. Trees are to make tree houses in. (Line-3)
EXPLANATION:
Humans reshape and remodel trees to make tree house.
Small dwelling for humans which is built on tree tops.
Often built in resorts and camps.

6. Trees are to swing swings on. (Line-4)
EXPLANATION:
Human make swings and put them up on strong tree branches for them to
swing on it.
Children can hold on to them and swing from one end to the other.

7. Trees are for the wind to blow through
Trees are to hind behind in ‘Hide and Seek’. (Lines 5 & 6)
EXPLANATION:
The presence of trees arrest the flow of heavy winds.
Used by children to hide when they play hide and seek.
Huge trunks - cover a child when he/she hides behind them.

8. Trees are to have tea parties under.
Trees are for kites to get caught in. (Lines 7 & 8)
EXPLANATION:
Provide shade and space to organize tea parties under them.
Trap kites in their branches when children fly them.

9. Trees are to make cool shade in summer.
Trees are to make no shade in winter. (Lines 9 & 10)
EXPLANATION:
Provide shade in summer and helps to remain cool
and disease-free.The trees exist to not give shade in
winter.
Trees are cut to build hotels and industries -makes
summer more restless with heat.

10. Trees are for apples to grow on, and pears;
Trees are to chop down and call,” TIMBER-R-R!”. (Lines 11 &12)
EXPLANATION:
Known to bear fruit.
Give apples and also pears.
People also cut trees for timber- used to make furniture or to make fire when one is
cold.

11. Trees make mothers say,
“What a lovely picture to paint!”
Trees make fathers say,
“What a lot of leaves to rake this fall!” ( Lines 13-16)
EXPLANATION:
Season- autumn.
Beauty captivates the mothers to paint a beautiful picture
Make fathers say about the fallen leaves that need to be cleared during
autumn.
