Transparent electronics is an emerging field focused on producing transparent electronic devices using transparent materials instead of opaque semiconductors. Transparent conducting oxides (TCOs) like indium tin oxide are materials that have both optical transparency and electrical conductivity properties that are key for transparent electronics. Transparent electronics devices include transparent thin-film transistors and can be used for applications like see-through displays, solar windows, and invisible cameras and RFIDs.
