2. The Hour
Over the years I have tended not to
like the way training manuals were
written, so when I first had the
opportunity to write a training manual,
I wrote it the way I always wanted to
have read one. In the years since, I
have been able to write several
training manuals and have always
taken the opportunity to write them
from the users point of view.

3. The Hour
While working as the Assistant Prepress
and IT Director, I wrote and produced a
word-and picture training manual
which was to be utilized by the night
prepress person who did the layout for
the newspapers three newspapers.

4. Norwalk Veterans Memorial Committee
While working as the webmaster for
the Norwalk veterans Memorial
Committee not only did I provide
content (text and art) for both the
website and the Veterans Facebook
page, but I wrote and produced a
manual on how to do both.

5. VSI Communications
While working for VSI Communications,
I helped write an interactive training
manual for users of Netscape.
This CD-ROM was produced for VSI
Communications and contained
numerous instructional videos that
were produced to instruct users on
how best to access and utilize various
applications and tools on several
pieces of regularly-used software.
Each set of detailed instructions
(called a JIT, or “Just in Time”) on this
CD were instructions specific to
individual tasks that the user would
need to know to operate various tasks
in Netscape.

6. CT’s Secretary of the State
While working as the Deputy Registrar
of Voters for the City of Norwalk, I
helped write a training manual for
Moderators (individuals charged with
running polling places during
elections).

7. CT’s Secretary of the State
After assisting in the writing of the
Moderators training manual, I went on
to create a PowerPoint presentation
which was then utilized to train
Moderator in classes across the state,
which I assisted in teaching.

8. Training
While my son was in Cub Scouts and
then again while he was in Boy Scouts I
volunteered as a Scout leader and
trained several boys in Scouting.
When my children were in grade
school, I trained at least two fifth-
grade classes in how to use
PowerPoint.
While working as copywriter at Settlers
& Traders I trained the firm’s secretary
in how to use MS Word.
While working as a consultant at Pitney
Bowes, I trained the Chanel Marketing
staff how to re-create their
documentation using QuarkXPress
(instead of PageMaker).
