The Meaning of the Qur'an is a fresh English rendering of Tafhim-ul-Qur’an, Maulana Syed Abu Ala Moududi’s monumental and masterly Urdu translation of the Qur’an and a selection of his commentary. The translator has undertaken the delicate and difficult task of rendering this work in English under the guidance of the Maulana himself. Here is a work with a difference, by a dedicated scholar of an entirely different sort. An immense wealth of profound understanding of the Qur’an is here, a vast treasure of knowledge and deep insight, and a valuable exposition of some social, political, economic and legal teachings of the Qur’an.
This comprehensive Tafsir answers contemporary questions, and makes the Qur’an fully relevant to the concerns of day, yet it loses nothing of its timelessness nor sacrifices any of the traditional understanding. It demonstrates the unity and coherence of the Qur’an by centring everything on its message, like gems hung on a single string.

Allah informed the angels that He would place a deputy on Earth. The angels questioned if this deputy would spread corruption. Allah affirmed His knowledge is greater. He taught Adam all things' names, then asked angels to name them, showing Adam's superiority in knowledge. Allah commanded angels to prostrate to Adam. Iblees disobeyed and was arrogant, becoming the first disbeliever.

Transforming earth into a paradise – part 4Sabry Shaheen
The document discusses several key teachings of Islam based on verses from the Quran, including:
1) Islam teaches that there is one true religion revealed by God to all prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.
2) The Quran teaches that people will be rewarded or punished based on their obedience to God and their good or bad deeds. Those who believe and do good will be admitted into Paradise while disbelievers and those who spread corruption will be punished.
3) Several verses discuss signs in nature like rain, fruits, night and day as evidence of God's power and as reminders for people to be grateful and obey God.
The document outlines guidelines for success and failure according to Judaism teachings. It states that the Old Testament teaches obedience to God and keeping his commands will lead to blessings, while disobedience will lead to curses. It provides many scriptural references to support this, showing passages that promise blessings for obedience to God's laws and warn of curses for disobedience. It also discusses teachings on justice, loving foreigners, and seeking wisdom through obeying God.
The document discusses how true submission to Allah's will leads to peace and happiness. It argues that submission is a natural trait for all of creation, both animate and inanimate. For humans and jinns, they have been given choice and conscience to willingly submit to Allah or unwillingly through His laws. True submission involves reflecting Allah's guidance in all aspects of life, not just rituals. Submitted believers experience peace with Allah, themselves, and their surroundings. They find happiness through proper inward and outward behavior inspired by strong faith. The only way to perfect and lasting happiness is by prioritizing obedience to Allah in this life and the hereafter.

An Admonition to Humanity
According to the teachings of different religions, our life on earth is only a primary testing period. We are not supposed to relax and enjoy ourselves during the test, we should not expect that the test questions are clearly known in advance, we should expect difficulties during the test, and we will be rewarded according to our faith, our obedience, our compassion, and our good deeds
If we review the teachings of Judaism like Exodus 20:20, Deuteronomy 8:2, Deuteronomy 13:3, we find that God tests people to know who obeys and who does not obey
Exodus 16:4 teaches I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not
In Exodus 20:20, Moses taught that God tests you so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning
The same teaching is also found in Deuteronomy 13:3
God is testing you to find out whether you love him with all your heart and with all your soul
In Deuteronomy 8:2-3, Moses taught that God tests people in order to know what is in their heart, whether or not they would keep his commands.
Deuteronomy 4:30 teaches that in tribulations, people would return to God and obey his voice
The same teachings are confirmed many times in the holy book
Job 23:10 teaches when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold
Job 5:7 teaches that we are here for testing
People are born for trouble as surely as sparks fly upward
Job 5:17 teaches blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of God
PSALM 11:4-5 teaches He watches everyone closely; examining every person on earth. God examines both the righteous and the wicked
Psalm 66:10 teaches For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined
PROVERBS 17:3 teaches The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, but God tests the hearts
ISAIAH 48:10 teaches I have refined you, but not as silver is refined.
Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering
Jeremiah 17:10 teaches that God tests us and will reward everyone according to his works
Jesus taught that life is a test; he taught that we are in a temporary testing period and we are being prepared for a permanent life. He also taught that the rewards will be according to our obedience and our good works
Talking in parables, Jesus taught that God tests us by tribulation, temptation, trials, persecutions and promised rewards in heaven for those who pass those tests
Jesus has taught people to stand up for the truth even if persecuted by the bad multitudes who hate the truth. He taught that and also demonstrated it when he stood up for the truth against the bad chief priests who explained religion to their benefits
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven - Matthew 5:10
God has set the world stage for testing; every day we meet hungry and poor people; some will help and some will refuse to help; those would not be rewarded similarly
The document discusses the teachings of various religions about the objectives of life. It states that according to religions like Judaism, Christianity, Islam, and others, life is a test to determine who obeys God through their faith, compassion, and good deeds. Many religious scriptures are cited that say God tests people to see who follows commands and that people will be rewarded or punished based on their test results. Jesus' teachings are discussed as also emphasizing life as a test and rewards going to those who pass through obedience and good works.
The Meaning of the Qur'an is a fresh English rendering of Tafhim-ul-Qur’an, Maulana Syed Abu Ala Moududi’s monumental and masterly Urdu translation of the Qur’an and a selection of his commentary. An immense wealth of profound understanding of the Qur’an is here, a vast treasure of knowledge and deep insight, and a valuable exposition of some social, political, economic and legal teachings of the Qur’an.

Love of God in Islam
The Testimonies of Faith
The central creed of Islam consists of the two testimonies of faith
or Shahadahs1, which state that: There is no god but God, Muham-
mad is the messenger of God. These Two Testimonies are the sine
qua non of Islam. He or she who testifies to them is a Muslim; he
or she who denies them is not a Muslim. Moreover, the Prophet
Muhammad U said: The best remembrance is: ‘There is no god but
God’ ...2
The Best that All the Prophets have Said
Expanding on the best remembrance, the Prophet Muhammad U
also said:
The best that I have said—myself, and the prophets that
came before me—is: ‘There is no god but God, He Alone,
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
And may peace and blessings be upon the Prophet Muhammad

What does “Islam” mean?
The word الإسلام [Islam] is an infinitive word derived from س ل م [silm] root in if‘al pattern and used as noun and infinitive. The word silm means “release/keeping away; and to be distant from fear, doubt, trouble, lack of peace, unhappiness, fight, war, pain, suffering, material and spiritual inconveniences, weakness and decaying, and all the negativities.” This word is also the root of salim, selam, teslim, Islam etc. The word’s “Islam” form means “strengthening” [removal from problems, worries, fear, unhappiness, fights, wars, and similar negative things]. The document discusses the oneness of God in Islam and various monotheistic faiths. It provides verses from the Quran and Bible affirming that God is one and has no partners. Jesus is described as a prophet according to both Islamic and Christian scripture. The document emphasizes that all prophets, including Abraham, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad, preached the same core message of submitting one's will to God.
This document provides information about Surah Luqman, including its name, period of revelation, theme, and subject matter.
1) Surah Luqman discusses important themes like the meaninglessness of shirk (associating others with God) and the truth and reasonableness of tauhid (affirming the Oneness of God). It invites people to give up blind imitation and consider the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
2) It references the wisdom of Luqman the sage and notes that the teachings of Prophet Muhammad are consistent with what wise people of the past have said.
3) The surah addresses important topics like establishing prayers, enjoining good and forbidding evil, having
The document provides a summary of teachings from Islam's holy book, the Quran. It discusses over 50 verses that teach obedience to God and his prophets, doing good deeds, avoiding evil and disobedience, believing in God and the afterlife, being grateful for God's signs and blessings, forgiving others, caring for the poor and needy, resisting temptation, and preparing for the Day of Judgment. The verses urge following guidance from God rather than desires or opinions, and warn that people will be judged based on their deeds, not the sins of others.
The greatest teachings of Christianity according to the document are:
1) Jesus taught that believers should obey God and do good works in order to pass tests on Earth and receive rewards in heaven.
2) Jesus warned that the path to destruction is broad while the path to life is narrow, and that few will find it.
3) Jesus taught that salvation is based on good works, not just belief, and that God will judge people according to their deeds.
The document summarizes some of the core teachings of Judaism found in the Old Testament. It discusses passages that teach about obeying God's commands in order to receive blessings, and disobeying them will result in curses. It also discusses teachings about loving foreigners, being just especially to widows and orphans, and choosing life through repentance and obedience rather than arrogance and disobedience to God's laws.
Objectives of life as taught in judaism, christianity, and islamSabry Shaheen
This document discusses the teachings of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam regarding the objectives and purpose of life. It argues that life is a temporary testing period, with rewards in the afterlife determined by how one passes the tests of obedience, faith, compassion, and good deeds. All three religions see God as testing humanity to evaluate character and distinguish between the righteous and unrighteous. Suffering and difficulty are part of the test, and people should focus on pleasing God rather than enjoying earthly pleasures.
This document contains 15 inspirational quotes about change from various notable figures. Some of the key messages are: change can be scary but avoiding it out of fear prevents growth; focusing energy on building the new rather than tearing down the old is the secret to change; changing your daily routine is key to changing your life; and those who believe they can change the world are the ones who actually do.
The document discusses resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through following the original teachings of Moses, which promoted justice, equality, and conditional choice by God based on obedience. It argues the current teachings claim the Jews are unconditionally chosen, contrary to Moses. To achieve peace, it says the same laws should apply to Jews and non-Jews, justice must be maintained, and the prophets' teachings on non-violence and priorities like agriculture over military should be followed.
Book summary identification of the wrong teachingsSabry Shaheen
The document summarizes how religious scholars have distorted the core teachings of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in order to claim their religion is the only true one.
For Judaism, the document argues Jewish scholars do not teach the original teachings of Moses, which emphasized conditional blessings for obedience and curses for disobedience. Instead, they teach Jews are unconditionally chosen, contradicting Moses. They also ignore Moses' teachings on equal treatment of foreigners.
For Christianity, the document claims most Christian scholars teach distorted interpretations rather than Jesus' true teachings which emphasized deeds over faith alone.
For Islam, the document states Muslim scholars who justify killing or teach predestination contradict the Quran. The true teachings emphasize
Book summary identification of the wrong teachingsSabry Shaheen
The document summarizes how religious scholars have distorted the core teachings of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in order to prove their own religion is superior.
It provides examples of distortions made by Jewish scribes to the teachings of Moses, such as restricting justice and fair treatment only to fellow Israelites, rather than applying them universally as the original teachings intended. Christian scholars are said to have distorted Jesus' teachings of compassion in order to promote ideas like predestination. Muslim scholars too have allegedly ignored teachings of equality, freedom of religion, and nonviolence in order to claim superiority over other faiths and justify harmful actions.
The document discusses how many people prefer certain teachings of Paul over the harsher teachings of Jesus. It claims that people are drawn to teachings that emphasize salvation through faith alone or predestination, rather than teachings where Jesus calls for strict obedience or self-sacrifice. The document suggests that some scholars improperly focus on attractive teachings to get more donations, rather than conveying the true teachings found in the Bible.
The second coming - The Messiah is backSabry Shaheen
The document contains questions posed to a new Messiah figure about life's objectives and the teachings of religions. The Messiah responds that according to religious teachings, life is a temporary test period where people are tested on their faith, obedience, compassion, and good deeds. Religions teach that God tests people to see who obeys commands and that those who obey will be blessed while those who rebel will be cursed. The objective of life is to pass tests of tribulation and temptation, and there will be rewards in the afterlife for those who demonstrate righteousness through their works.
The document discusses guidelines for success and failure according to Judaism based on teachings from the Old Testament. It states that the Old Testament teaches that obedience to God and keeping his commands are necessary for success, while disobedience will lead to curses and failure. It provides numerous quotes from Deuteronomy and other books that emphasize blessing will come from obedience to God through keeping his laws and commands, while disobedience will result in curses. The document also discusses teachings on justice, loving foreigners, and not taking advantage of widows and orphans.

A375 Example Taste the taste of the Lord, the taste of the Lord The taste of...franktsao4
It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

them!

night, the day, the sun, the moon, the sea as a source of food
and to enable transportation via ships, etc. (such signs

in that is a sign for a people who give thought. And He
has subjected for you the night and day
Success and failure according to

people who give thought. And of His signs is the
creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity

does not like the disbelievers

over them. God is sufficient as their Guardian
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
19. 27:83-85 is a scene from the hereafter, when we are asked
‘what else have you been doing?’
On that Day We shall gather from every nation a
multitude of those who disbelieved Our revelations;
then they shall be arranged in classifications according to
their merits,
until when they have all arrived, God will ask: "Did you
deny My revelations without gaining their comprehensive
knowledge? If not this, what else were you doing?

[be able to] obtain any [helpful] answer from one
another

responsibility of guiding him? Or do you think that
most of them listen or try to understand? They
are nothing but animals - nay, they are even
further off track!
16:105 teaches that the disbelievers are liars (because they
conceal the proofs of existence of God which they see
everywhere)
Surely those who do not believe in the revelations
of God, are the ones who forge the falsehood and
they are the ones who are liars!
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
22. 27:14 teaches that some people reject God’s signs and

you, but [every time] you would turn about on
your heels

brought within sight of the hell, [they will be
told:] "You have exhausted your [share of] good
things in your worldly life, having enjoyed them
[without any thought of the hereafter]: and so
today you shall be requited with the suffering of
humiliation for having gloried on earth in your
arrogance offending against all that is right, and
for all your iniquitous doings!“
That is similar to the wisdom taught by Jesus in Luke 16:25
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
25. 4:150-152 Warns those who reject some of the prophets
those who disbelieve in God and His messengers,
and seek to make distinction between God and His
messengers, and say: We believe in some and
disbelieve in others, and seek to choose a way in
between; these are the real unbelievers and We
have prepared for such unbelievers a humiliating
punishment. As for those who believe in God and
His messengers and do not discriminate between
any of them, We shall give them their due
rewards. God is Forgiving, Merciful

yet they think that they are guided
7:146 teaches that God does not guide the arrogant who
ignore the signs and deny God’s message
I will turn away from My signs the eyes of those
who are unjustly arrogant on earth, so that even if
they see each and every sign they will not believe
in it. If they see the Right Way before them they
will not follow it; but if they see a crooked way
they will follow it; this is because they denied Our
revelations and were heedless of them

oppressed in the land.
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
28. (The angels) will say: Was not God’s earth
spacious that ye could have migrated therein? As
for such, their habitation will be hell, an evil
journey's end
28:59 teaches that God does not punish without sending

Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam

Himself has commanded us to do so." Tell them:
"Nay! God never commands what is shameful. Do
you attribute to God something about which you
have no knowledge?
37:69-70 warn those who blindly follow the father’s religion
They indeed found their fathers astray, and they
are eagerly following their footsteps
The same is confirmed in 43:23-25
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
30. Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers
upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps
[rightly] guided."And similarly, We did not send
before you any warner into a city except that its
affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a
religion, and we are, in their footsteps,
following."[Each Warner] said, "Even if I brought
you better guidance than that [religion] upon
which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed
we, in that with which you were sent, are
disbelievers." So we took retribution from them;
then see how was the end of the deniers

Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
31. And the idolaters say: "If God wanted, neither we

messengers have no more responsibility than to
convey the Message clearly

them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."

chosen, but are means for testing.
Success and failure according to
the teachings of Islam
36. Do they think that, in giving them wealth and sons,
We are eager for their welfare? By no means! They do
not understand the reality of the matter. Surely those
who live cautiously for fear of God, And those who
believe in the signs and revelations of God and who do
not worship other than God, who do good deeds, and
their hearts are full of fear by the very idea that they
shall have to return to God, These race to do good
deeds, and they shall win them in the race

guidance from God? Verily, God does not grace
with His guidance the evildoers
29:60 teaches that God provides the means of living to
people and to the animals (which cannot store food for

All-knowing

are bad and some are good (It is not an honor to get the task,
but the honor is to accomplish the mission)
Then We gave the Scripture as inheritance unto
those whom We elected. But of them are some
who wrong themselves and of them are some who
are lukewarm and of them are some who outstrip
(others) through good deeds, by God's leave. That
is the great favour!

the teachings of Islam
41. 35:37 is a scene from the hereafter to explain the conditions
of the disobedient who wish to go back to life to do good
deeds (although they are granted enough time to
demonstrate their behaviour)
And they cry for help there, (saying): Our Lord!
Release us; we will do right, not (the wrong) that
we used to do. Did not We grant you a life long
enough for who reflected to reflect therein? And
the Warner came unto you. Now taste (the

God you will deny?

is of the matters [requiring] determination

inherit for what you used to do
Success and failure according to

evil doers
Or do those who commit evils think We will make
them like those who have believed and done
righteous deeds - [make them] equal in their life

And God created the heavens and earth in truth
and so that every soul may be recompensed for
what it has earned, and they will not be wronged
