A touchdown is worth 6 points and occurs when the ball crosses the goal line or is caught in the end zone, followed by an extra point attempt worth 1, 2, or 3 points depending on the line of scrimmage. A safety is worth 2 points and results from tackling the offensive player in their own end zone.
