An argument or a persuasive paper has the power to make people change their minds about a topic, or allows them to really understand and accept your position as a valid one. You know how strongly people feel about their beliefs, so you can guess that writing a paper that will command the readers’ respect is challenging. So, in order to make strong arguments and to have the power to persuade people, follow some simple suggestions:
Get oriented:
1. Pick a topic you feel strongly about. It doesn’t matter whether you agree with it, or disagree with it. Think of points on both sides of the issue - the pros and the cons of each topic.
2. List some arguments from both sides and then think about how your audience feels about each of these.
3. Pick whichever side has the most convincing information - you might have to change your mind and change your main idea as you discover facts that you were not aware of as you started thinking about the topic.
4. Pay close attention to your audience. Think of what it believes in, and be prepared to discuss some of the points that would be most interesting to this group.
5. Once you considered both sides, and considered the audience, then you are ready to to take one side. Believe that you are right, and prepare yourself well to defend your thoughts. You will need good research to do this!
6. Make sure that there is reliable information available to support your position.
7. You will need facts, statistics, and reports from sources you and your audience can trust.
8. Make sure that you study the other side as well as you study your side. You don't want any surprise facts that you can't defend to show up after you finish your paper!
9. Be very well informed about the issue you want to discuss. Issues have different dimensions – there is always a social, a technical or scientific, an economic, or another type of intellectual aspect you will need to be aware of.

This paper asks you to identify an argument’s claim and reason. You will also need to explain the general context for the argument, the author’s purpose and audience and how you have been able to determine the context/audience/purpose based on clues from inside and outside of the text. It also asks you to describe the author’s (4) supporting evidence and (5) overall structure, and finally, evaluate the argument in terms of its purpose and audience.
Successful essays will include:
1. An introductory section that provides all the information the audience will need to understand your argument. 3. A discussion of the general context, author’s purpose and author’s audience, supported by evidence from inside or outside of the text
4. A description and evaluation of supporting evidence.

Assignment: write a 10-page persuasive research paper on the topic of your choice. Your task is to present your opinion on an issue or problem in such a way that your presentation reveals your understanding and attempt to convince others of its efficacy. Unlike argument, the persuasive essay requires an audience, which will consist of your classmates and instructor. The Research and Persuasive Essay (RPE) calls upon the skills of analysis and synthesis, i.e. “breaking” the larger issue into smaller components and incorporating opinions and evidence from sources into your own argument. You will also be using the skills of paraphrasing, summarizing and quoting sources to substantiate and support your position. One can post different messages letting all customers or potential customers know why they're company is the best company, why should one convert to them, and other reasons why ones company is the best way to go. With using the mobile, a small computer is in the palm of ones hand.

When talking about mobile computing, I think that it has changed the way businesses run and conduct their day to day activity. For instance, many jobs now have the option to let you work from home some if not most days of the week. Years ago, this was something that was almost never done. Why are we able to do it today? Because of mobile computing. Even in my position in Human Resources, I had a few appointments yesterday and was able to work from home. My email is on my phone, and I have a fax machine and scanner at home, I went to my appointments in the morning, and then went home and did everything at home that I would have been able to do at my office. It is very nice being able to not use your vacation time for things like that, and still get everything done in the day that you would have gotten done in the office.

I completely agree, Mallory. I feel that the question is racial because some people are born with different races including Black, White, Hispanic, and even a mixed race. Taking advantage of who they are going to hire is very wrong in so many levels, and I believe it is against the law as well because it does count against one person trying to get a job that they can do.

Planet Earth’s surface is over 70% water, but less than 1% of the water on Earth is considered accessible, usable freshwater for sustaining humans’ and other organisms’ lives. Unfortunately, humans are depleting the aquifers faster than they can be recharged by the hydrological cycle. Therefore, three quarters of groundwater is considered nonrenewable.
Conditions
The main reason we using groundwater resources mainly for drinking and irrigation. As a result, this not only decreases an important source of freshwater—it also can cause pollution of that groundwater by saltwater intrusion. The recharge rate of groundwater is further hindered by land clearing and deforestation caused by human development. When land is cleared for human development, more flooding occurs, the
transpiration rate
(the amount of water that evaporates into the atmosphere from plants) is reduced, and rainwater is inhibited from adequately
percolating
(penetrating the soil) into the ground to allow for aquifers and groundwater to be recharged.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
