Spending two to three hours per night on homework is linked to better results in core subjects according to a study of 3,000 children over 15 years. Previous research only found a modest link between homework and secondary school performance. The study found benefits to any homework, but greater effects between two to three hours per night. It also found that students who enjoyed school got better results, and that coming from a working-class family doesn't determine success if parents have high aspirations and encourage extracurricular activities and learning.
