Asian Dishes
Asian cuisine is one of the most popular cuisines around
the world. Using distinct ingredients and special culinary
techniques, Asian chefs specialize in creatingmemorable
flavors in every dish. Millions of people savor diverse Asian
dishes, from the iconic Japanese sushi to the Korean
bibimbap.
Japanese chefs deliver a wide range of sushidishes with
few ingredients. Combining white rice and seafood or
vegetables in a small but delicious package makes sushi
popular globally. Sushirolls vary based on their
composition. For example, nigiri typically consists of white
rice topped with a slice of raw fish. On the other hand,
maki rolls come wrapped in seaweed.
When Chinese food is mentioned, noodles often come to mind, but the rich cuisine
includes flavorful delicacies such as Peking duck. This dish is traditionally prepared with
well-seasoned duck that is deeply roasted to develop a thin but crispy skin. Once
cooked, the duck is served in thin slices, which can be wrapped in pancakes with
vegetables like spring onions and cucumber.
Vietnamese cuisine includes countless delicious dishes, but pho is the most well-
recognized. Pho is served as a bowl of rice noodles soaked in bone broth and meat.
However, Pho noodles are unique in texture as they are softer than the typical thick,
chewy noodles found in ramen dishes.
Although many Asian dishes contain a soup base, the
Thai tom yum goong is one of a kind. This soup dish is
a flavor bomb made from boiled shrimp heads mixed
with multiple aromatics, including lemongrass, fish
sauce, and red chili peppers. The intense flavor from
the shrimp blends with the spices and develops into a
hot, sour soup with a tasty aftertaste.
Another outstandingdish from Thailand is pad Thai,
which consists of stir-fried noodles cooked with
scrambled eggs, vegetables, and protein. The dish is
known for its sweet flavor, which can be traced to the
peanuts found in the sauce.
South Korea's bibimbap is the perfect meal as it combines several types of protein in a
single dish. It is composed of rice with various vegetables alongside beef or chicken
and eggs. Once served, a special chili paste called gochujang is added and mixed with
all the components, making it the perfect combination of healthy, spicy, and succulent.
The jajangmyeon is another Korean dish that cannot be missed. The dish has a thick
bean sauce that adds sweetness to the wheat noodles, accompanied by diced pork and
vegetables.
Crab can be a complex protein, but Singaporean chefs perfected it in their national
dish: the chili crab. Typically made with mud crabs, the dish has a thick chili-based
sauce containing eggs, which serves as the perfect dip for the fried mantou bread that
comes as a side with the crabs.
Bubble tea has taken the world by storm,
and it all returns to Taiwan. The drink is
made initially with black tea mixed with
milk and sugar, then topped with tapioca
pearls. Since its rise, bubble tea has
evolved into many variations featuring
different types of tea, like fruit and green
teas, as well as different toppings,
including jelly, whipped cream, and
cream cheese.
