Which Strategy to Adopt? which one to select First?
• College or Course or Combination?
• If your qualifying cut off marks for counseling are in the range of
First 2 / 3 days of counseling
 Strategy – “Great Focus (College) / Selective (Course)”
• If your called for counseling in the fag end, i.e., last 5 days either
you may
 Strategy – “Avoid & Pursue Alternative Career ”
• Applicants called for counseling after first 3 days but before the
last 5 days of counseling
 Strategy – “ Pursue Passion (Branch)”

Before you prepare “C Square Matrix” to take right decision
in the Counselling, you need to collect details about the
College & Course.
Collate details about the College:
• Profile of Faculty.
• Percentage of Visiting faculty & their profile.
• Feedback about Teaching / coaching by faculty members.
• Placement record in terms of no. of offers made branch wise with
compensation package and profile of role offered by the recruiters /
companies.
• Placements in & off campus details.
• Past students pursuing PG in India / abroad with details.
• No. of Academic activities held in the college such as Seminars /
Workshops / Visit & Speech by prominent personalities etc.
• Facilities of Laboratory & Library.

Before you prepare “C Square Matrix” to take right decision in the
Counselling, you need to collect details about the College & Course.
Collate details about the College:
• Refer to Engineering College Rankings published by MULTIPLE Publishers
because of more inputs would help to see that ranking – consistency / Trend
beware that such a ranking alone cannot be the basis to decide.
• Refer to feedback from known circles
• If possible visit to the college, talk to students, faculties to have firsthand info
• Any report about excessive fleecing by college management? Fees / Fines.
• Was there any unrest in the college & hostel campus in the past?
• Profile of College Management & Purpose of college – Business Philanthropy?
• No. of seats vacant after each day of counselling session and on the last day of
the counselling session.
• Previous year cut off marks for admission branch wise.
• Total Cost of Pursuing education in the college.
• Look at the advertisements Only to decide about to be a day scholar or
Hosteller?

How to select a Course / branch to pursue Study & Career?
• Parents’ Wish / desire?
• Friends’ recommendations?
• Any other input?
• Study about the Job opportunities in each field such as – Civil,
Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Computer Science etc.
since we don’t have sufficient information of India specific and career
guidance facilities in schools, suggest to visit web pages to learn more
about the career in each field, then you can choose as per your likes.
• No Career / Field is superior / inferior – it depends up on you.
