- Utilizing the WordPress Customizer to configure theme options without code changes.

WordCamp Finland 2015 - WordPress SecurityTiia Rantanen
This document discusses WordPress security best practices. It outlines common threats like injection attacks and cross-site scripting. It recommends server-side measures like proper file permissions, limiting admin access, and monitoring servers. Client-side recommendations include using SSL, blocking PHP execution in directories, and obscuring details in wp-config.php. Specific plugins are also mentioned for enhancing security. Regular backups, updates, and monitoring are advised to help prevent and recover from hacks. The key message is that no system is completely secure, so diligence is important.

YLE, the Finnish Broadcasting Company, underwent a Lean-Agile change initiative over the course of a year involving three main efforts:
1) Improving collaboration within YLE's development organization through daily meetings and a shared backlog.
2) Creating shared understanding of YLE's Internet Vision 2015 through a series of workshops and establishing transparency of work across units.
3) Implementing new Areena portfolio management with continuous planning, prioritization of ideas, and increased visibility through weekly meetings.
The initiatives led to successes like strengthened collaboration and transparency but also highlighted the challenges of managing expectations and finding the right level of abstraction for plans. YLE is continuing its Lean-Agile transformation including benchmarking against the

The document discusses the opportunity in Japan's funeral consumer market. It notes that demand is growing as the population ages and consumer needs diversify. Most funeral operators are small. The document proposes an online one-stop shop SNS platform that connects aged Japanese, small funeral operators, and advertisers. It would offer integrated services like a family bulletin board and customized planning. Revenue would come from referral fees from operators and advertisements. A SWOT analysis identifies strengths in being a first mover platform business but weaknesses in lack of experience and capital. The management team backgrounds and financial plan with projections over 5 years are also summarized.

Yle (Finnish Broadcasting Company) is the pioneer in digital transformation and one of the leading public service media companies in Europe. We are public funded and share the experiences and knowledge we have within industries. Two years ago Yle received “The Best Lean Performance of the Year” award in Finland. What we have achieved in Lean-Agile is now one of the top benchmarks as well in Finnish corporates as in European Broadcast Union (EBU).
We have travelled a long way but we are still at the beginning of our transformation story. The transformation in Yle started from the development of digital services. In that area, there were plenty of benchmarks to draw upon, even when this transformation work started ten years ago. Even at the company strategy and portfolio levels, there were benchmarks in software development to draw influences from.
Currently, our Lean Agile Culture Accelerator´s evolutionary purpose is to ensure Yle´s competitive advantage through the Lean culture adaptation in creative and knowledge work.
Toward that goal, we have focused in other areas than the development of digital services: creating creative cross/transmedia content, modern journalism (both broadcast and online) and all the disciplines related to these including creative concepting, production, shooting, arranging sets, producing graphics, etc.
Working to transform this work at Yle to the Lean Culture with the people responsible for this work, we have often faced this question: "where are the benchmarks for an agile way of doing this?" This being journalistic work in news desks, creative transmedia productions, strategic prioritization of company key product portfolio etc.
After reaching out in our networks and making visits to several companies world-wide, we have come to the conclusion that it is us at Yle who have the task to create benchmarks in these areas.

Case Study: TPG Project Management Solution Delivers Big Savings to Emmi Schw...TPG The Project Group
With improved project management reporting alone, Emmi Schweiz AG – Switzerland’s largest milk processing company and one of Europe’s most innovative premium dairies – has achieved savings of over 100 person-days a year. This is the result of the new IT solution, based on Microsoft SharePoint and Project Server 2013, which was recommended and implemented by TPG The Project Group’s Swiss operation. The streamlined and automated project reporting process has delivered time savings of two days a week along with easier access to up-to-date data – but these are not the only advantages. Emmi also benefits from increased efficiency, fewer resource bottlenecks, more transparency and better knowledge sharing among project teams. The company initially wanted the system to manage a very complex project – the implementation of a new, enterprise-wide ERP system. However, the clear benefits of the project management solution soon prompted other departments to ask if they could use it. Today, Emmi’s marketing, human resources, product development, production planning and other departments are using the popular solution too.

15. WP’s pros and cons from our viewpoint
PROS
+ Intuitive admin UI
+ Huge amount of (free) plugins
+ Easy to customize
+ No license costs

CONS
- Optimization problems: we customized admin
the system became a bit too heavy
16. Pros and cons from our viewpoint
QUESTIONS:
- We don’t have in-houseWP developers.Yet?
17. Our vision in 2011 vs. assessment in 2015
In 2015 we use both licenced CMS and open source CMS.
• “More speed for development by using open source CMS” –
CHECK
• “Easier workflows for journalists” - CHECK
• “Lower costs” – CHECK
• “More efficiency on development with multiple open source
