Talent management is the systematic attraction, identification, development, engagement and retention of individuals with high potential who are valuable to an organization. It involves integrating recruiting, performance management, rewards, succession planning, learning and career development, and strategic workforce planning. Companies that effectively manage talent outperform their competitors. While talent management is an important topic, it lacks a consistent definition and clear conceptual boundaries. This document aims to develop a clear definition of strategic talent management and a theoretical model to aid future research.
