Analog clocks have two hands to tell time - the long hand shows minutes and the short hand shows hours. It takes the long hand 60 minutes to go around the clock face and the short hand 12 hours. Though there are 24 hours in a day, clocks only have numbers from 1 to 12 with the numbers spaced at 5 minute intervals and smaller lines in between showing individual minutes. Digital clocks display the time in hours and minutes as two numbers separated by a colon and are easier to read than analog clocks.
