Tim O'Brien is an American author known for his works about the Vietnam War. He was born in 1946 and graduated from Macalester College in 1968 before being drafted into the Vietnam War, where he served from 1969-1970. After leaving Vietnam, O'Brien enrolled in Harvard but left to pursue writing. He has won numerous awards for his fiction works exploring the Vietnam War experience and detailing his service, including National Book Award for Fiction.
